Regarding Kiefer and {{retired}}

Regarding the template; My interpretation of {{retired}} and the sentence Editors should promptly remove this template from their user pages if they resume editing for any reason indicates that anyone can remove the template if the person resumes activity. Off course my interpretation could be wrong. AzaToth 14:26, 2 August 2013 (UTC)

You may be right. But that doesn't mean it's the correct thing to do in all circumstances. I can think of a couple other editors with retired tags who are still editing and no one has pulled the tag. It might be better to prompt him on his talk first before taking unilateral action that might be seen as provoking or hostile. Just a thought. Intothatdarkness 14:40, 2 August 2013 (UTC)
Perhaps you are right; But I think the retired tags should only be allowed to be used on user pages which are really retired. When people starts to use them as a statement, I think they should be removed. AzaToth 16:25, 2 August 2013 (UTC)
I tend to agree, honestly. But it's far too common to single out just one person, especially since he tends to be controversial and your action could be misunderstood. Just my take, of course. Intothatdarkness 17:43, 2 August 2013 (UTC)

I have put up two discussions of this article at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Battle of Signal Hill Vietnamand at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject Copyright Cleanup#Complicated issue with possible user-donated material. Your input is invited for both these discussions. Thank you. Mangoe (talk) 17:02, 13 August 2013 (UTC)

You're welcome! I see nothing wrong with EotW, and frankly get a bit pissed when people only pop up when someone they don't like happens to be recognized. The way I see it, EotW more or less recognizes a single, discrete, instance (or maybe more than one) when someone did something in the realm of article writing (which in theory is what this place is supposed to be about) that was appreciated by someone else. Why not recognize that? Intothatdarkness 16:30, 31 January 2014 (UTC)

how about this

Wikipedia:List_of_policies --Obi-Wan Kenobi (talk) 02:17, 11 June 2014 (UTC)

Helpful, but is the originating link featured on the main page in a location where it can be easily found? Like, say, in the "navigation" box. It's good that something like this is out there, but right now the proliferation of policies (and the many essays that tend to be used or abused as policies) is something that makes it difficult for newcomers to really settle in, let alone thrive. Your comments on Talk Page of Standardbred

The issue is that my contributions were reverted without any attempt at improving or adding to them, nor the issue first being discussed on the talk page. If you look at the editor who made the revert, she has made more deletions than additions in her 7 years of editing this article. Why? Why not add to and/or improve what others are attempting to contribute? As for Daniel R. Gernatt, Sr., adding a section about notable breeders, I believe, is relevant to the article. And, contrary to your comment, the section was not lengthy, but only two sentences. I didn't even have a chance to add more to it before it was deleted. Very sad, but not surprising. Daniellagreen (talk) 01:02, 25 June 2014 (UTC)
There isn't a compelling reason to add to or improve them when they really don't belong there in the first place. If you believe there's a need for a section on breeders, it's on YOU to add more than one...especially when it seems you have a COI with regard to that breeder. Intothatdarkness 13:53, 25 June 2014 (UTC)

Naw...this is clearly someone who's not used to being questioned in any way. Looks like it's already been closed in any case. Intothatdarkness 14:30, 26 June 2014 (UTC)
No worries, others seem to have attempted to apply cluebats, to no avail, but the waste of bandwidth continues. /snark. Montanabw(talk) 19:58, 27 June 2014 (UTC)
Yep...but that's what happens with an editor who's effectively a single topic person. I had a bit of a COI go-round with a guy and then just gave up on it. He couldn't understand that it was a conflict of interest to use his own books as sources in articles where they weren't appropriate. COI board wasn't much help, either, but again not surprising. I suspect they're more used to hunting down the "evil minions" of BP than they are dealing with historical COI and the perils of using a poorly-document memoir as a source. Intothatdarkness 20:04, 27 June 2014 (UTC)

PONY!

Pony!
Congratulations! For your support of sanity on wikipedia and assistance on equine articles such as Morgan horse, you have received a pony! Ponies are cute, intelligent, cuddly, friendly (most of the time, though with notable exceptions), promote good will, encourage patience, and enjoy carrots. Treat your pony with respect and he will be your faithful friend! Montanabw(talk) 20:07, 27 June 2014 (UTC)

Thanks! One thing I have found interesting about that little spat is the number of times people have tried to turn it into some sort of gender conflict. Anything to divert attention from a possible competency issue, I guess... Intothatdarkness 20:11, 27 June 2014 (UTC)

I have a saying from some of my RL work: assholes are not a protected class. More to the point, though: Have you ever noticed that a trait of almost all bullies is that when confronted and challenged, they are the first ones to claim they are the victim? Montanabw(talk) 23:18, 27 June 2014 (UTC)
I notice that all the time...especially here. Intothatdarkness 14:40, 30 June 2014 (UTC)
I see it a lot IRL too. Scary as it may sound, wiki is a microosm of the world. Montanabw(talk) 21:13, 30 June 2014 (UTC)
Like most things on the webz, it's an amplified microcosm of the world. One that's amplified many times over. Too much fun...Intothatdarkness 21:42, 30 June 2014 (UTC)
