UC berkeley advertisement[edit]

Hey, I'd like to hear your concerns on the UC Berkeley article in regards to what sounds like a blatant advertisement. I have tried to keep advertising at a minimum, but university articles by their nature will have some sort of it. If this article is biased enough to receive a tag, then you can say the same for every university related article on wikipedia, and by that extension, articles like Duke University, University of Michigan, and Cornell University that have reached Featured Article status.Arcimpulse 03:59, 3 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I would then direct you to the Tufts University page, which has received a similar tag while containing like commentary, a tag with which I do not in that case agree and which was not placed there by me. I argue that the self-aggrandizing of this page is indicative of gross over promotion and needs adjustments in both its tone and tenor. I would suggest that UC Berkeley’s page not be geared to such self promotion and hyperbole. Therefore I request that the tag be left until suitable changes are enacted, and that the page be made more impartial and further that visitors to the page may make their own decisions as to the biases inherent to the page. The tag should be left on until a further consensus is reached among other visitors, and ones without an agenda to promote and advertise for UC Berkeley. I would also direct you to wikipedia policy on advertising.

RE: New Userboxes[edit]

(cross-post from original discussion here)

I can certainly put together a few simple boxes for the WAC. I'll get started on that soon. So that you can help, here is the basic look of an NCAA userbox:

<div style="float: left; border: solid black 1px; margin: 1px;">
{| cellspacing="0" style="width: 238px; background: [major background color];"
| style="width: 45px; height: 45px; background: [minor background color]; text-align: center; font-size: {{{5|{{{id-s|14}}}}}}pt; color: [minor font color];" | '''[School initials]'''
| style="font-size: {{{info-s|8}}}pt; padding: 4pt; line-height: 1.25em; color: [major font color];" | This user is a [Wikilink to school] fan.
|}
</div>
<noinclude>
[[Category:Sports fan user templates|NCAA-School Initials]]
</noinclude>

Play around with the places marked with braces in your sandbox and see what you can come up with. There are a few things to remember, though. First, you can not use the school's logo anywhere on the userbox. WP's fair-use critera (WP:FUC) does not allow the use of fair-use images anywhere but in articles. Second, play around with the colors. It's frequently the most challenging part to get as close as possible to your schools colors with the fairly limited HTML pallet, but once you do you get a real feeling of accomplishment. Third, feel free to ask for help from anyone in the college foot ball wikiproject (WP:CFB). Mecu and NMajdan are both really good with tables and templates and I've done a lot of these NCAA userboxes. Have fun, and welcome to WikiPedia! z4ns4tsu\talk 15:32, 2 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:2006FresnoStateMedia.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:2006FresnoStateMedia.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MER-C 10:27, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:2006FresnoStateMedia.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:2006FresnoStateMedia.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 22:08, 29 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Template:User Bakersfield[edit]

A tag has been placed on Template:User Bakersfield requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a deprecated or orphaned template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.

If the template is intended to be substituted, please feel free to remove the speedy deletion tag and please consider putting a note on the template's page indicating that it is substituted so as to avoid any future mistakes (<noinclude>{{transclusionless}}</noinclude>).

Unreferenced BLPs[edit]

Hello Intrepidsfsu! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 3 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 940 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

  1. Vic Rowen - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL
  2. Zhang Dachun - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL
  3. Leopoldina Fortunati - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL

Thanks!--DASHBot (talk) 09:06, 25 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article Leopoldina Fortunati has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

no evidence of notability. The Italian wikipedia does not include her, which may indicate something (or not)

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Scott Mac (Doc) 14:17, 10 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Northern California Athletic Conference[edit]

Intrepidsfsu, glad you appreciated my edits on the Northern California Athletic Conference article. I've been working on a little clean-up for all of the NCAA/NAIA conference articles. I also recently did some work on Vic Rowen, which you created, and started an article for his predecessor at San Francisco State, Joe Verducci. Jweiss11 (talk) 18:03, 25 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
