May 2016[edit]

Please take the time to read and understand wikipedia's policies on referencing - including what is and isn't a reliable source and how to use the same source more than once. In particular, IMDB and other fansites are not acceptable as references - see WP:UGC. thanks, Melcous (talk) 00:27, 25 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

So you're saying that IMDB isn't reliable? Iridona (talk) 00:55, 25 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, it does not meet wikipedia's guidelines for reliable sources because anyone can edit it - just like wikipedia itself cannot be used as a reference. Melcous (talk) 04:39, 25 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

IMDB Question[edit]

I saw your post on AN/I, and before I could answer it was deleted. Check out WP:USERGENERATED, specifically this:

Content from websites whose content is largely user-generated is also generally unacceptable. Sites with user-generated content include personal websites, personal blogs, group blogs, the Internet Movie Database (IMDb), the Comic Book Database (CBDB.com), content farms, most wikis including Wikipedia, and other collaboratively created websites.

From this, IMDB is NOT to be treated as a reliable source, as it is user-generated content. RickinBaltimore (talk) 20:49, 25 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

ah ok. So should i still repost it in ANI? Iridona (talk) 20:50, 25 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
What's the direct issue? RickinBaltimore (talk) 20:51, 25 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I deleted the IMDB references but he keeps reverting my deletion. Iridona (talk) 20:51, 25 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I put it in ANI so that someone could tell him. but thanks! Iridona (talk) 20:53, 25 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

list of natural horror films[edit]

but there are many wikipedia pages that use imdb. also, what's a "jersey attitude"? --24.184.132.160 (talk) 20:54, 25 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Imdb generally unacceptable since the content is fan generated. Iridona (talk) 20:54, 25 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. Curious as to why you may be reverting edits on the Senate election in Georgia? It is protocol to use the most up to date photo, and Senator Isakson does indeed have a more up to date photo. The content was not removed, it was updated. If you could please provide a reason for your reverts or I will have to report your unnecessary reverts to Wikipedia. Thanks. 173.68.7.51 (talk) 22:00, 25 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I am looking at the revert right now. You removed some edits that showed primary results. its best to leave them, unless you can show it is a duplicate. Understand that the results its for the primary, not the general election. There is a difference. It is a separate issue from the photo itself. You have to add it manually instead of adding and removing the items. Iridona (talk) 22:05, 25 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I did not realize I was removing the primary results. That was not my intent. I do apologize about that. 173.68.7.51 (talk) 22:08, 25 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Its fine man. no worries. Iridona (talk) 22:28, 25 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom Elections 2016: Voting now open![edit]

Hello, Iridona. Voting in the 2016 Arbitration Committee elections is open from Monday, 00:00, 21 November through Sunday, 23:59, 4 December to all unblocked users who have registered an account before Wednesday, 00:00, 28 October 2016 and have made at least 150 mainspace edits before Sunday, 00:00, 1 November 2016.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2016 election, please review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 22:08, 21 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
