Hi @La lopi sorry for the late response. I've been on wikibreak, but I'll try to finish the map up in the next few days. — Berrely • TalkContribs 17:55, 10 June 2022 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image File:BBC Persian titlecard.png

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:BBC Persian titlecard.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 17:04, 11 June 2022 (UTC)

Question from Deeptisinha123 (04:36, 17 June 2022)

Hi Berrely,

I have been here for a while as reader. I am from India and I love technology and sports. I wanted to take a moment to say hi and hope you are doing well. --Deeptisinha123 (talk) 04:36, 17 June 2022 (UTC)

Question from Python Drink (13:55, 18 June 2022)

How do you find references? I know there's already Wikipedia pages on this but I was just thinking I might learn something from you. --Python Drink (talk) 13:55, 18 June 2022 (UTC)

Python Drink. I mostly edit around topics where I have some knowledge of, so I find it easier to locate references. Resources like Google Books and Archive.org are useful, and The Wikipedia Library is a great collection of free resources that you can access once you reach 500 edits and 6 months of editing (so 2 months and 200 edits to go). Your local library may also have some premium resources that you can access for free, for example mine allows me to view a newspaper archive. — Berrely • TalkContribs 14:02, 18 June 2022 (UTC)
Thanks. The Wikipedia Library sounds most interesting to me! Python Drink (talk) 16:57, 18 June 2022 (UTC)

Question from København Ø (07:58, 20 June 2022)

Hello Berrely! wonderful to have a mentor. I would like to edit the article about Unitarianism https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unitarianism regarding its history in Denmark, which is missing. This was Saturday 2022.06.18, if my memory seres me right I succeeded in adding the word ‘Denmark’ to the list of countries, but the next parts, adding text and a reference, have no yet appeared. How can I check whether my editing is noted? and how long does it usually take to appear? --København Ø (talk) 07:58, 20 June 2022 (UTC)

Hello København Ø, and welcome to Wikipedia. Looking at the page, I can see the section you added underneath the Denmark header. However, I have tagged it with a maintenance template as it cites no sources. All statements on Wikipedia require reliable sources, and you have not include any. Please make sure to go back to your section and add reliable sources: this guide is a useful start. Happy editing! — Berrely • TalkContribs 17:16, 20 June 2022 (UTC)

Hi Berrely, I get the impression you are on vacation? I just wanted to note that my forst version of the rticle I could no figure out to add references in text (as I wrote to you) but of course I had the reference at the end. I usually use Vancouver. I would appreciate any advice. I also cannot figure out how to remove your comment. It makes no sense now. — Preceding unsigned comment added by København Ø (talkcontribs) 11:19, 23 June 2022 (UTC)

New Page Patrol newsletter June 2022

New Page Review queue June 2022

Hello Isochrone/Archives/2022,

Backlog status

At the time of the last newsletter (No.27, May 2022), the backlog was approaching 16,000, having shot up rapidly from 6,000 over the prior two months. The attention the newsletter brought to the backlog sparked a flurry of activity. There was new discussion on process improvements, efforts to invite new editors to participate in NPP increased and more editors requested the NPP user right so they could help, and most importantly, the number of reviews picked up and the backlog decreased, dipping below 14,000[a] at the end of May.

Since then, the news has not been so good. The backlog is basically flat, hovering around 14,200. I wish I could report the number of reviews done and the number of new articles added to the queue. But the available statistics we have are woefully inadequate. The only real number we have is the net queue size.[b]

In the last 30 days, the top 100 reviewers have all made more than 16 patrols (up from 8 last month), and about 70 have averaged one review a day (up from 50 last month).

While there are more people doing more reviews, many of the ~730 with the NPP right are doing little. Most of the reviews are being done by the top 50 or 100 reviewers. They need your help. We appreciate every review done, but please aim to do one a day (on average, or 30 a month).

Backlog drive

A backlog reduction drive, coordinated by buidhe and Zippybonzo, will be held from July 1 to July 31. Sign up here. Barnstars will be awarded.

TIP – New school articles

Many new articles on schools are being created by new users in developing and/or non-English-speaking countries. The authors are probably not even aware of Wikipedia's projects and policy pages. WP:WPSCH/AG has some excellent advice and resources specifically written for these users. Reviewers could consider providing such first-time article creators with a link to it while also mentioning that not all schools pass the GNG and that elementary schools are almost certainly not notable.

Misc

There is a new template available, {{NPP backlog}}, to show the current backlog. You can place it on your user or talk page as a reminder:

Very high unreviewed pages backlog: 11280 articles, as of 16:00, 10 May 2024 (UTC), according to DatBot

There has been significant discussion at WP:VPP recently on NPP-related matters (Draftification, Deletion, Notability, Verifiability, Burden). Proposals that would somewhat ease the burden on NPP aren't gaining much traction, although there are suggestions that the role of NPP be fundamentally changed to focus only on major CSD-type issues.

Reminders
  • Consider staying informed on project issues by putting the project discussion page on your watchlist.
  • If you have noticed a user with a good understanding of Wikipedia notability and deletion, suggest they help the effort by placing {{subst:NPR invite}} on their talk page.
  • If you are no longer very active on Wikipedia or you no longer wish to be part of the New Page Reviewer user group, please consider asking any admin to remove you from the list. This will enable NPP to have a better overview of its performance and what improvements need to be made to the process and its software.
  • To opt-out of future mailings, please remove yourself here.
Notes
  1. ^ not including another ~6,000 redirects
  2. ^ The number of weekly reviews reported in the NPP feed includes redirects, which are not included in the backlog we primarily track.

Question from Torquinian on User talk:Torquinian (21:01, 23 June 2022)

Hello. Thank you for your comments. This is my first attempt at Wikipedia so I’m sorry if I got it wrong. My comments and corrections about St Matthews Hospital are based on my own personal knowledge. I lived in a house owned by the hospital. My mother was Night Superintendent there and I did my nurse training there and worked as a staff nurse. I don’t know how else it can be verified. --Torquinian (talk) 21:01, 23 June 2022 (UTC)

@Torquinian apologies for the late reply. On Wikipedia, all content must be verifiable. If your source for this data is your own knowledge, this constitutes original research, and is not allowed on Wikipedia. As an encyclopaedia, Wikipedia only cites reliable secondary sources and, in some limited cases, primary sources. I would recommend finding reliable sources for the information you added. A good guide is available at this Wikipedia page. Happy editing :) — Berrely • TalkContribs 19:08, 27 June 2022 (UTC)

Question from Python Drink (18:02, 24 June 2022)

Good day. Another lazy question from me (lazy coz I prefer to get the answer and relevant pages from you rather than search haha):

We both know whenever some organization or website is the main subject of a Wikipedia article, its URL is mentioned in the infobox. Now what if the URL leads to what people might deem extremist, pornographic or offensive, is the URL linked in the infobox regardless? Does Wikipedia have a policy on this. I'm asking coz I just came from XVideos and although the URL is mentioned, it's not linked.

Just curious. --Python Drink (talk) 18:02, 24 June 2022 (UTC)

Hi @Python Drink and thanks for your question. Yes, Wikipedia does have a policy on this, WP:NOTCENSORED. As we can't please anyone, we instead choose not to redact any offensive content with censors. However, obviously having pornographic images in an article when they are not necessary to illustrate the text is inpractical. Hence, consensus is to include possibly offensive images based on the principle of least astonishment. However, naturally this is a very controversial area, and you may find differing views on whether an image falls under that criterion. — Berrely • TalkContribs 19:17, 27 June 2022 (UTC)
