Problems

  • For a few days last week, edits that were suggested to newcomers were not tagged in the Special:RecentChanges feed. This bug has been fixed. [1]

Changes later this week

  • The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 5 April. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 6 April. It will be on all wikis from 7 April (calendar).
  • Some wikis will be in read-only for a few minutes because of a switch of their main database. It will be performed on 7 April at 7:00 UTC (targeted wikis).

  • Access to Special:RevisionDelete has been expanded to include users who have the deletelogentry and deletedhistory rights. This means that those in the Researcher user group and Checkusers who are not administrators can now access Special:RevisionDelete. The users able to view the special page after this change are the 3 users in the Researcher group, as there are currently no checkusers who are not already administrators. (T301928)
  • When viewing deleted revisions or diffs on Special:Undelete a back link to the undelete page for the associated page is now present. (T284114)

CSD G5s

Hello, Itcouldbepossible,

Please review WP:G5. Do not tag a page as a CSD G5 unless it is the page creation of a confirmed sockpuppet of a ban-evading editor and the article does not have substantial contributions from other editors. If the page creator has not been blocked for sockpuppetry or if there is no sockmaster identified who is evading a block, a page can't be tagged CSD G5. If you just suspect sockpuppetry and it hasn't been confirmed, please don't tag a page CSD G5. If other editors have worked on the article, it shouldn't be tagged CSD G5. Every page tagged for speedy deletion has to be reviewed by an administrator and it wastes time when pages are inappropriately tagged. Thank you for all of your contributions to Wikipedia. Liz Read! Recent changes

  • There is a new public status page at www.wikimediastatus.net. This site shows five automated high-level metrics where you can see the overall health and performance of our wikis' technical environment. It also contains manually-written updates for widespread incidents, which are written as quickly as the engineers are able to do so while also fixing the actual problem. The site is separated from our production infrastructure and hosted by an external service, so that it can be accessed even if the wikis are briefly unavailable. You can read more about this project.
  • On Wiktionary wikis, the software to play videos and audio files on pages has now changed. The old player has been removed. Some audio players will become wider after this change. The new player has been a beta feature for over four years. [3][4]

On so many talk pages, I see your messages about improving articles and from that I have known you since. I really appreciate your work. But here, would you please spend your valuable time in explaining what you meant by Please add details of reviews of the series in reliable sources. What reviews do you want me to add? For example, my other TV articles like Sona Roder Gaan, Nayantara (TV series), Aalta Phoring or Harano Sur (TV series) are like the subject article. So could you please elaborate on what you said. Hi thankyou for your kind words and great content work. By reviews I mean a critical reception section such as you would see in a film article that summarises reviews of the show in reliable sources such as The Hindu, New Indian Express and other newspapers and magazines (non-English sources are ok as well). If your articles have such a section they are more likely to survive an AfD discussion than they would without it because critical reception is given a higer value than general news stories, regards Atlantic306 (talk) 22:22, 15 April 2022 (UTC)

Changes later this week

  • The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 19 April. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 20 April. It will be on all wikis from 21 April (calendar).
  • Some wikis will be in read-only for a few minutes because of a switch of their main database. It will be performed on 19 April at 07:00 UTC (targeted wikis) and on 21 April at 7:00 UTC (targeted wikis).
  • Administrators will now have the option to delete/undelete the associated "Talk" page when they are deleting a given page. An API endpoint with this option is also available. This concludes the 11th wish of the 2021 Community Wishlist Survey.
  • On selected wikis, 50% of logged-in users will see the new table of contents. When scrolling up and down the page, the table of contents will stay in the same place on the screen. This is part of the Desktop Improvements project. [5]
  • Message boxes produced by MediaWiki code will no longer have these CSS classes: successbox, errorbox, warningbox. The styles for those classes and messagebox will be removed from MediaWiki core. This only affects wikis that use these classes in wikitext, or change their appearance within site-wide CSS. Please review any local usage and definitions for these classes you may have. This was previously announced in the 28 February issue of Tech News.

Hi,
We've been trying to submit a page about established trade bank "Euro Exim Bank" (EEB) however it is always flagged as advertorial. We've used sources that reference EEB such as Forbes, and simply stated the year it was established and the location of head office. What is the issue here? Do we need more sources? @Eximuser Good evening! I totally understand what you are saying. I problem here is that your draft or what you are creating looks like you are advertising about the bank. Sources doesn't always contribute to improving the article. You have to write in a neutral point of view. A more detailed help can be got at the Teahouse. IAbot stuck

Sorry for this as well as the pings, I just want to make sure you see this even if you have pings turned off. On meta:User talk:InternetArchiveBot#Stalled on job 9878 I have raised an issue with IABot being stuck. Of course, you aren't a maintainer of IABot, but you do have the ability to "kill" the job, as you had created the job (for fixing up Donald Trump). If you could please try to do so, it may get the bot unstuck, as it has been stuck for more than two weeks now. Recent changes

  • On many wikis (group 1), the software to play videos and audio files on pages has now changed. The old player has been removed. Some audio players will become wider after this change. The new player has been a beta feature for over four years. [10][11]

  • The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 26 April. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 27 April. It will be on all wikis from 28 April (calendar).
  • Some wikis will be in read-only for a few minutes because of a switch of their main database. It will be performed on 26 April at 07:00 UTC (targeted wikis).
  • Some very old browsers and operating systems are no longer supported. Some things on the wikis might look weird or not work in very old browsers like Internet Explorer 9 or 10, Android 4, or Firefox 38 or older. [12]
