License tagging for Image:Jayshelton.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Jayshelton.jpg. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 06:05, 3 May 2006 (UTC)

It is felt that the article you created at Jay Shelton is not suitable for a Wikipedia article, which must have a notable subject and be verifiable. I have moved it to User:J-annastasia, which is where users are free to write about themselves. You are at liberty to move it back into the (Main) namespace but bear in mind that if you do so, it is likely to be nominated for deletion.

Note, however, that the purpose of a user page is to enable active editors of Wikipedia to introduce themselves to other editors. Wikipedia is not a general hosting service, so your user page is not a personal homepage. Content unrelated to Wikipedia or its editing is likely to be removed.

Please refrain from adding nonsense to Wikipedia, as you did to Jay Shelton. It is considered vandalism. If you would like to experiment, use the sandbox. Do not repost deleted content! Wickethewok 07:21, 3 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

OK, this has now been deleted three times and is protected against re-creation. If you genuinely think that the subject is notable feel free to take it to deletion review but I have to say that as written it doesn't stand a snowball's chance. Sorry, that's just how it is. Please see WP:BIO for guidelines on what constitutes an encyclopaedic subject for a biography. Thanks, Just zis Guy you know? 09:00, 3 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, this was my first attempt at adding an article to Wikipedia. I did repost it because it disappeared as I was editing and I was confused. I am gathering that I should have had it perfect BEFORE posting it, and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I do believe that Jay Shelton, as a published author, in accordance with the Wikipedia rules, does warrant an entry here. I guess that's not up to me though :)

I don't think this entry should be on my personal page, as I am not him. I just like his work. j-annastasia 21:30, 3 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, articles don't need to be perfect before creation - many articles start out rather poorly, and are improved to perfection over time (that's part of the beauty of Wikipedia). But they do need to have a notable subject to begin with, which presumably was not the case with Jay Shelton. Anyway, you probably should familiarize yourself with Wikipedia before creating new articles - here are some links that can help:
