Hello, I'm Binksternet. Wikipedia is written by people who have a wide diversity of opinions, but we try hard to make sure articles have a neutral point of view. Your recent edit to Madman Across the Water seemed less than neutral and has been removed. If you think this was a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. - Apologies if my removal came off as anything other than neutral. The album is closer to the country-rock or even blues-rock of Tumbleweed Connection than prog, and it’s inaccurate to say Elton did not dip into prog again (if he did to begin with) until Blue Moves, when even the Wikipedia page for the opening track of Goodbye Yellow Brick Road calls it prog. Someone looking for similar albums to Madman would find themselves listening to Pink Floyd, Renaissance, Genesis, or ELO, and I think anyone would agree those are very different. - It's certainly possible to add more sources talking about the album's genre. And perhaps you'll find a majority of those sources agreeing with your own analysis. But all of those sources would need to be factored into the article rather than removed... Wikipedia's mission is to summarize the literature about each topic, not to have Wikipedia users analyze the topic and decide who is wrong and what is right. A neutral representation of the album's genre would give the most weight to whatever genres were explicitly stated multiple times by music critics and career journalists. We would represent those genres as the mainstream consensus, and then we could add some outlier findings like saying Publication X also called it Genre Y.
