Khet (disambiguation)

I believe this was your edit but please disregard if not. Just wanted to let you know that your edit of the Khet disambiguation page lead to some bold redefinitions. Khet is not a the name of a district in Bangkok, Thailand, nor the name of a province in Cambodia. These are administrative subdivisions in those two countries based on a Pali word. Bangkok's districts are especially referred to as khets (which differs from the rest of Thailand where other they are called amphoe) and Cambodia's provinces are referred to as khets (in the Khmer language). --Dara (talk) 00:05, 7 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Please do clarify the entries on the disambiguation page if they aren't worded well. -- JHunterJ (talk) 11:51, 7 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know what makes you think that people searching for "Derekh Eretz" are really searching for the philosophy of Torah im Derech Eretz (Hebrew for Torah with Derech Eretz). Maybe thei'r searching for Derech Eretz itself (lit. "way of land"; often refers to proper behavior, or proper ethical behavior). Or maybe thei'r searching for tractate Derekh Eretz Rabbah (as is the case if someone happens to click the link at Jose_ben_Halafta#cite_ref-31). -- -- -- 19:52, 10 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If there's a change in primary topic (to no primary topic), just changing the redirect results in WP:MALPLACED, so WP:RM should be used to move the dab to the base name in that case. -- JHunterJ (talk) 19:56, 10 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the explanation and for your recent edits. I fixed the link at Jose ben Halafta as well. -- -- -- 23:24, 10 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

"partial title match in See also" Sorry, but I do not see what you're referring to. These are the publications listed in the comics section:

The other two both specify ongoing/monthly comic book series. Without "graphic novel," there's no similar specification for The Dark Knight Returns. The Dark Knight Returns was not a miniseries. It's the graphic novel that compiles the pieces of the miniseries 'Batman: The Dark Knight. The "graphic novel" part is an important distinction. Doczilla @SUPERHEROLOGIST 23:21, 10 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

"Dark Knight" is not ambiguous with "Legends of the Dark Knight" -- the latter is a [{WP:PTM|partial title match]]. "Dark Knight" is ambiguous with "The Dark Knight", the post-colon part of the titles "Batman: The Dark Knight" and "Batman: The Dark Knight", so those entries are not partial title matches. -- JHunterJ (talk) 10:57, 11 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Ma'aser

  1. The term ma'aser always refers to a tithe in Jewish law. (In other contexts, a different Hebrew word for a 10th (asirith) is used.)
  2. I don't see what's wrong with "tithes in Judaism include". Why change that to "see also"?
  3. Perhaps it can be written something like this:
  • Ma'aser is the Hebrew word for a tithe. Tithes in Jewish law include:
    • First tithe
    • Second tithe, etc. ...

If you insist on using "see also" (for some reason, I'm not that thrilled about that option), then perhaps we can just turn the page into a redirect to "Tithe#Hebrew Bible" or "Tithe#Judaism"; or maybe rename it "List of tithes in Judaism" or "List of tithes in Jewish law"? What do u think would be best? -- -- -- 07:17, 14 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, redirecting to a section of Tithe and linking from there to a List of ma'aser or List of tithes in Judaism would be good. -- JHunterJ (talk) 10:46, 14 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
 Done. -- -- -- 02:47, 15 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Darrin Drader

Hey there, thanks for improving Feargus!  :)

If you are stuck on Darrin Drader[1] at all, I can tell you that he has also written a novel called "Echoes of Olympus" and a serial called "Heroes of Gracia". Since his article was PRODed I didn't want to restore it without additional RS'es, but maybe there is something available now that wasn't found previously. Invitation to join a discussion

Through this way, I inform there is a discussion about partially disambiguated titles, known as "PDABs". This subguide of WP:D was approved at VPP, in a discussion you participated. Note there was a discussion of PDAB at WT:D the last weeks (everything is explained in the RFC). You are welcome to give ideas about the future of this guideline at WT:D. Tbhotch. Grammatically incorrect? Correct it! See terms and conditions. 05:33, 24 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Not Assuming Good Faith on Village Pump

Your response to points being discussed were not assuming good faith. I know your failure to apply WP:BRD and instead apply WP:JUSTAPOLICY in 3 reverts was a bit embarrassing, but nobody reported you. There's no need to get defensive. Your accusation that I was forum shopping are unfounded. I've used the appropriate forums for 3 separate issues. Although events may have been related in that one event may have lead to the other, the goals were all separate. My goal in the article page was to improve the article. My goal on the MOS talk page was to improve the MOS. My goal in the village pump was to discuss a conflict of interest that can occur in any MOS guide, not the one in particular. If you keep appearing in every discussion I have regarding guides or policy and accusing me of form shopping when the goals are obviously different, I will report you for WP:HOUNDING. Oicumayberight (talk) 02:33, 30 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

There's no need to get defensive. I did not fail to assume good faith. Please do go ahead and report me for the reverts and/or the hounding. I think, in particular, you may be further embarrassed in trying to make a case for hounding from my participation at the village pump. -- JHunterJ (talk) 10:38, 30 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
No need to report you unless you continue. You've been warned. Despite your daring me to report you (which isn't very civil) instead of just clearing up any misunderstanding of your intent, I have no interest in ruining your good reputation. That's the reason why I'd didn't mention names or even the digital article where the incident occurred in the village pump. Nobody is beating a dead horse. If anyone isn't letting the incident at digital go, it's you. Oicumayberight (talk) 21:14, 30 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
There's no need to report me unless you feel you haven't sufficiently embarrassed yourself. There is no dare nor incivility above. Kindly steer clear of my talk page; I waive any need for "warnings" from you on any breech you feel warrants official report, so anything else here will just be harassment. -- JHunterJ (talk) 01:27, 31 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Kurdish–Iranian conflict

I suggest you to remove article to most earliest name since dispute is resovled. I don't know is there any change for discuss with person who is removing reliable sources without any talk explanation just because he don't like it. --HistorNE (talk) 15:23, 9 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Use WP:RM to suggest a page move. Further undiscussed page moves when protecting expires will be disruptive. -- JHunterJ (talk) 15:25, 9 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

HistorNE disruptive editing also included moving Template:Campaignbox Kurdish separatism in Iran -> Template:Campaignbox Kurdish insurgency in Modern Iran. It should be restored unless WP:RM is issued (per above). Thanks.Greyshark09 (talk) 15:41, 9 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

You changed name without any discussion, isn't that disruptive considering misusing sources? --HistorNE (talk) 15:48, 9 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I created the "Kurdish separatism" template back then - it was many months ago. Now it is simply HistorNE disruptive behaviour and violation of WP:CIVIL. He is also suddenly an advocate of "Kurdish-Iranian conflict" title, while actually he has been pushing "Kurdish insurgency in Iran" (or modern Iran) title until one hour ago.Greyshark09 (talk) 15:56, 9 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Returned to the pre-August name and protected. -- JHunterJ (talk) 16:15, 9 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
No problem, but it's my right to exclude any revolt which is not described in WP:RS as "separatism". --HistorNE (talk) 16:23, 9 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
You misunderstand the problem. It's not your supposed "rights", but the move war. You do not have the right to move war. -- JHunterJ (talk) 16:37, 9 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I got it, but now we have different issue because content is beyond title. Something like content of United Kingdom named under England. Still, to be honest I believe if some other admin took resolution we would both be banned now, so please accept my sincere thanks in the name of both. --HistorNE (talk) 17:18, 9 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

@JHunterJ: While finally issuing a WP:RM move request, HistorNE still performs disruptive edits - he still insists to radically alter the content of requested page and topic related articles ([2], [3], [4]) in accordance with the desired result of his requested move, even though the move is in process. In general, he is also particularly unfair with WP:RS, removing credible historians who don't fit his world view (like removing McDowall [5]) and misusing others, as well as trying to stalk his edits ([6], [7]). I don't think this is helpful for the Kurdish and Iranian topics, and considering his general disruptive behavior for the last 2 months and suspiciously bold and professional edits, i'm thinking of asking an investigation on this user in general. In the meanwhile, i would like a suggestion how to pause his aggressive edits and forcing him into standard procedure of WP:RM.Greyshark09 (talk) 15:26, 12 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I've explained everything on talkpage, Greyshark09 misused all three sources. Considering other edits, when I remove something it isn't without reason; I always give explanation on talkpage (examples: [8][9][10]). When Greyshark09 don't like it, he never replies on article/user talkpage but simply undo my edits (including WP:RS) and call it as "disruptive". When he does reply, he's doing it with very aggressive and arrogant attitude (refers to upper comment also which I consider as insulting and frame-up). You're free to check any of my edit and consult me about it, and if you find out that I don't have referenced explanation for any single of them, you're free to block me indefinitely. Best regards. --HistorNE (talk) 16:11, 12 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Is the request that I edit protect the articles (in addition to the move protection already in place)? If you need other help resolving a content dispute, you'll have to pursue the usual Wikipedia:Dispute resolution processes, as I have no expertise in this content space. -- JHunterJ (talk) 16:15, 12 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure whether edit protection will be enough, since something has to be done with the editing culture of Histor; thanks anyway - i will ask administrator resolution.Greyshark09 (talk) 16:58, 12 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think there's any problem with my editing because I helped you on many occasions, like improving this article, finding sources for other, etc. If you did personally asked me for any part of book related to subject, I would help you. You should start to assume good faith. --HistorNE (talk) 17:18, 12 August 2013 (UTC)--HistorNE (talk) 17:18, 12 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to IP may have broken the syntax by modifying 2 "[]"s. If you have, don't worry, just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

List of unpaired brackets remaining on the page:
  • * [[Workers' Initiative]] or ''Inicjatywa Pracownicza]]'', a Polish trade union

Pyramid online reviews

Hi there, JHunterJ. Can you tell me if you have access to the Pyramid archives at Steve Jackson's website? If so, would you like to help out with reviews on D&D articles? BOZ (talk) 00:40, 28 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I don't have that access. -- JHunterJ (talk) 17:15, 29 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm... it doesn't seem like anyone does. There's got to be someone, LOL! BOZ (talk) 19:40, 29 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Attempt to delete an article

Hi, a user Trust Is All You Need tried to delete an article 1970 Syrian Corrective Revolution by copy-pasting it into "Corrective Movement" [11][12] (non-standard WP:RM), and later blanking the new page and creating a redirect [13], which technically resulted in merging/deletion without any discussion. He also tried to edit-war on this [14], and even wrote some insults [15] (doesn't matter so much). Can you protect the original article 1970 Syrian Corrective Revolution from blanking? Thanks.Greyshark09 (talk) 19:46, 31 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Restored and watchlisted; I will protect it if needed. Thanks. -- JHunterJ (talk) 15:47, 1 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Corrective Movement

Its not a notable event in itself, and its not a controversial change .... And the information in the article is false... "Corrective Movement" means the reforms which Assad initiated after he ousted Jadid, he corrected his mistakes.... It's not controversial, and the article of Hafez al-Assad details the topic much better, and the article does not deserve a separate page.... --TIAYN (talk) 15:52, 1 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Good information. Please use Talk:1970 Syrian Corrective Revolution, as it is obviously controversial since the two of you are not in agreement. -- JHunterJ (talk) 15:54, 1 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Can you please post the following at the top of 1970 Syrian Corrective Revolution since that article is blocked? Thanks. —  AjaxSmack  03:39, 2 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

{{Merge to|Hafez al-Assad|discuss=Talk:1970 Syrian Corrective Revolution#Request merge|date=September 2013}}
Thanks. AjaxSmack  16:47, 2 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Please remove the Coup infobox, and all information about the coup... The Corrective Movement was not a coup, the Corrective Movement was a serious of reform initiated after Assad seized power... PLease fix. --TIAYN (talk) 19:12, 2 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Use {{edit protected}} on the article talk page for content changes, if there's consensus for the change. -- JHunterJ (talk) 20:57, 2 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I'm trying to get the list List of Presidents of Syria to FL standards, since i'm planning to nominate it, but a user keeps reverting it since he means that the list doesn't need to meet FL standards... It can't be wrong to try to improve a list so that it could pass, can it? --TIAYN (talk) 15:27, 3 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Are you asking me to protect the article? Or block the other editor or possibly both of you for revert warring? -- JHunterJ (talk) 15:36, 3 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I'm asking you tell him/her that opposing the list's promotion to FL is illogical. That you can agree?--TIAYN (talk) 15:47, 3 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Please use Talk:List of Presidents of Syria to discuss the contents of that article, and improvements to it. -- JHunterJ (talk) 16:01, 3 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Disruptive editing complaint regarding user HistorNE

Dear JhunterJ, a complaint over disruptive editing of user HistorNE at Kurdish separatism in Iran and related articles was opened at [noticeboard - incidents section]. As an involved administrator in this incident you are welcome to express your opinion. Thank you.Greyshark09 (talk) 22:34, 2 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

G4 revert

Hey, I'm already at 3RR for the G4 article for today, can you revert this? Thanks. DKqwerty (talk) 00:50, 4 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

 Done -- JHunterJ (talk) 01:03, 4 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Again, another edit by this obnoxious anon. editor: diff. Please and thanks. Any suggestion on what can be done here? Obviously a block of IP range 66.87.xxx.xxx is pretty extreme, but (s)he seems insistent on not using the {{Official website}} template. But semi-protecting the article to mitigate an external link vandal seems equally extreme. Suggestions welcome. DKqwerty (talk) 03:14, 4 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I blocked anon edits to the page for three days. -- JHunterJ (talk) 14:40, 4 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. Missing Requested move discussion for Byron Scott

Hi, talk:Byron Scott cryptically refers to the move discussion taking place on... talk:Byron Scott. I suspect that the discussion actually was on Talk:Byron Scott (disambiguation), which you deleted. This seems an unusual RM scenario, where the result is to delete one of the pages that was proposed for moving and replace it with hatnotes. No problem there, but can you restore the discussion to talk:Byron Scott by a history merge, or copy it there so a record of the RM discussion is retained? Thanks, Wbm1058 (talk) 20:04, 20 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Good point. Fixed. Thanks! -- JHunterJ (talk) 17:14, 21 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
