revision[edit]

You asked me to review the Appian article. I have incorporated most of your changes, and made some edits for compactness. There still seem sto be considerable duplication of references; I will get to it when I can. After I do, I'll probably remove the banner. There are 3 remaining problems--how much about the CEO to incorporate, if he does not get his separate article (which I am not going to judge or review), and whether to describe the firm as engaged in Enterprise software and cloud computing software. I think it's important to gkeep enterprisein somewhere to describe the business level being aimed at. For attribution purposes, it is necessary for you to retain your draft page. DGG ( talk ) 07:00, 24 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@DGG: Thank you for taking the time to review, implement changes, and share your thoughts - much appreciated.
  • For the CEO information, your version looked fine to me, but I see it was removed by an anonymous editor. Here's another variation to consider:
“Calkins is currently the CEO of the company. Before co-founding the company in 1999, Calkins was a director at MicroStrategy.”[1][2]
I can understand that the original version may have been more detailed than needed on a company page. At the bare minimum, the coverage he’s received appears to be enough to include “Calkins is currently the CEO” within the text per WP:DUE.
  • For his separate article, you have already declined the submission based on the available sources at the time, which is understandable. Would a redirect be appropriate until he receives enough coverage for his own article?
  • Lastly, can we use both enterprise software and cloud computing for the first line?
“Appian corporation is a cloud computing and enterprise software company…”
Thank you again for the time you’ve put into this and all of your help! Truly appreciate it! JMGAppian (talk) 15:24, 26 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

1. Saying Calkins is currently the CEO is not merely appropriate but necessary content. If a company is worth covering, we always include the CEO 2. A redirect should be made. I'll make it, by converting the article into a redirect. The earlier infromation will still be present in the history of the redirect. If an article on him is ever accepted, it will automatically replace. the redirect. 3,Your solution to cloud computing / enterprise software is a good solution. 4, I may edit a little more for conciseness and to reduce duplication. DGG ( talk ) 17:51, 26 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@DGG: Thank you for your quick response and for setting up that redirect. I corrected a few formatting errors / typos on the page, and all looks good. Please don't hesitate to reach out regarding the flag removal. I'd be happy to draft up more suggested changes as needed to address any of your concerns. Thank you again for all of your help! JMGAppian (talk) 20:51, 26 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, except for updating, it would probably be better if you did not concern yourself with this article further, but leave it to those without COI. I think that even for those who are in favor of permitting paid editing, the ideal situation would be if there were never need for a person with coi to make or edit an article, because o others would do it. DGG ( talk ) 23:49, 26 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Understood, thanks again for taking the time to work on the page. JMGAppian (talk) 17:56, 1 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Undisclosed paid activity[edit]

Hi JMGAppian. I mentioned before that some accounts engaged in undisclosed paid editing in the Appian Corporation article. I'm trying to better understand the behavior of these accounts. As far as I know, it is an American digital marketing company, also outsourcing some activity in South East Asia. By any chance, do you know why would they edit Appian Corporation. Thank you! MarioGom (talk) 19:39, 25 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi MarioGom, I remember seeing that. I wish I could be more helpful, but unfortunately I have no information about that. I've confirmed with Appian as well, and no one is aware of any other involvement with a marketing agency that would have been editing the page outside of my own edit requests. These accounts are not associated with Appian as far as I'm aware. If there's anything else I might be able to help with, please don't hesitate to reach out. JMGAppian (talk) 12:19, 26 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your response. The mentioned marketing agency does edit articles that are not about their customers, but this one was not really obvious to me. Thanks again. Best, MarioGom (talk) 16:15, 26 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi JMGAppian, Wikipedia went on the fritz when I reviewed the draft so you did not get the automated notice. Please see the draft for my comments. S0091 (talk) 16:25, 12 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
