I am referencing a document outside of wikipedia, is there a way to upload the document to wikipedia in case the website is gone in the future? — Preceding unsigned comment added by JMueller248 (talkcontribs)

Hi @JMueller248: in the future you can ask this type of question at the teahouse -- I only stumbled upon your user talk page after seeing your draft. If you are not the copyright owner of the document, you cannot upload it here, but you can use the Wayback Machine to archive it at https://web.archive.org : assuming you are referring to https://physicsphorphun.com/uploads/1/2/2/5/122590908/a_periodic_table_of_dimensions__2020_.pdf, I have done so and it is now available here.

On the other hand, if you are the copyright owner, you are able to upload to Wikimedia Commons (the file respository for Wikipedia and similar projects) by clearly noting somewhere that the document is licensed under something such as CC-BY-SA 3.0. Also, I saw you'd copied some text in from that doc; I've removed it as it violated Wikipedia's copyright policy -- please paraphrase it (or license and attribute).

By the way, the same is true for the image you uploaded -- I marked it for deletion as there was no indication that it was not a copyright violation, but you can license it as CC-BY-SA 3.0 or CC-0 (essentially public domain) on your own website to verify. Hello, JMueller248. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Periodic Table of Dimensions".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been deleted. If you plan on working on it further and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. Liz Read! Talk! 23:42, 9 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
