Cutting down the Hugo Chavez article's size

OK. I agree. You guys are absolutely correct, and I put back the verylong boilerplate. Feel free to remove any content you need to from the Hugo Chavez article. I just ask that the content that you remove goes somewhere — into a daughter article (a daughter article is , as you said, just a linked article), a new article, etc. Please don't just delete content without first putting a copy of it in some other article. Hola, mi inglés es muy precario así si no te molesta te escribo en español, muchas gracias por neutralizar el articulo de Luís Tascón, el sesgo que tenía era muy evidente. Este usuario y este otro son un autentico dolor de cabeza, solo realizan ediciones para alguna u otra forma falsear cualquier cosa referente a Hugo Chávez y aprovecharse además el desconocimiento de muchos angloparlantes de la situación en Venezuela. Sírvase por ejemplo las ediciones realizadas por ellos también en la biografía de Norberto Ceresole, únicamente realizadas por ellos dos para vincular de forma malefica a Chávez con lo anti-judío y el fascismo. Yes. That policy is rather new (and very welcome). It wasn't yet in effect at the time I was disputing the reference. And even now, matters could be unclear if someone came forward and tried to argue that the trashy reference was valid. - Jmabel | Talk

Venezuelan-Israeli relations

If possible, I would like to keep this article from being merged by reaching a compromise. Is there a particular reason you would like to see it merged with the foreign policy pages? If you look at my talkpage, Sandy has posted several links with info to be added to the page, which I will try to add later today. Respectfully, Republitarian 14:56, 11 August 2006 (UTC)

I think that having an article specially devoted to the Venezuelan-Israeli relations is an exageration. Israel is not an important priority for the Venezuela foreign policy. There is a lot of media attention these days but in the long run it is not an important issue. From the Venezuelan point of view there are more important countries such as Colombia. I guess that from the Israeli point of view Venezuela is not very important either. Unfortunately some enemies of the Venezuelan process love these kind of media scandals and don't seem to realize that Venezuelan voters don't decide what they think or who they will vote by reading the wikipedia. They think they can harm Hugo Chávez with this but in fact they only harm the WP by filling it with unimportant information JRSP 23:25, 11 August 2006 (UTC)

I'm having a hard time following this seemingly bizarre tangent about Venezuelan voters. I've seen no reliable source or account or even any individuals expressing the belief that there is any chance that Chávez will not win the December elections, and many agree that he will likely be "president for life". United States-Venezuela relations

You may be interested in United States-Venezuela relations. It's in a very poor and largely neglected state. Thanks for helping with Venezuelan-Israeli relations. Venezuelan Economy

It is actually booming right now, and some models place continued similar growth for a few more years (we could double GDP by 2010 but granted it would be including the rebound. That said lets hope that imports do not continue to skyrocket as well, at least luxury imports most of it is machinery and other goods.Flanker 17:48, 16 August 2006 (UTC)

Informal Sector

I know it also includes maids, etc. Basically all employment that is denied social benefits of employment, Just removed the iirrational accusation that it just recently included in employment when it always has been, it is so irrational that if it were removed then unemployment before Chavez was 66% because the informal sector was half. I was disappointed on that hack piece it took all critiscism at face value without doing the slightest research Flanker 23:14, 19 August 2006 (UTC)

Mercenaries 2: World in Flames

Hola, JRSP, en el articulo sobre el videojuego Mercenaries 2: World in Flames agregué una información sobre su posible prohibición de venta en Venezuela, he buscado bien en varios sitios web y parece que sólo es una posibilidad y estaría siendo propuesto en la Asamblea Nacional, aunque hace algún tiempo no se habla del tema, después de pensarlo mejor no me parece un aspecto muy relevante y quizás sería mejor quitarlo, ya que dicho videojuego en mi opinión precisamente está siendo creado para el público joven videojugador de Estados Unidos para crear una matriz de opinión a una posible invasión a Venezuela más que de grandes ventas y meras ganancias (puede al final llegue a PC, Xbox 360 para mayor difusión del panfleto-videojuego). De hecho el grupo creador del videojuego es Pandemic, esta compañía hasta ha hecho videojuegos bajo pedido del gobierno estadounidense para entrenar su ejercito como el Full Spectrum Warrior. Parece que habrá que acostumbrarnos de ver panfletos de este tipo contra Venezuela. Saludos. Yes, that's my understanding. I'm just driving home the point that Tannim needs a source for the information—and lacking that, shouldn't add to the article. We're trying to do the same thing, albeit in different ways.

Chavez's relations with Cuba are understandable and don't really isolate Venesuela in any way. (The US doesn't like Cuba. That of itself is hardly noteworthy in this article, being so many steps removed from Chavez himself.) North Korea is a different story entirely: nations doing much of anything with the DPRK are almost surely out of step with the rest of the world. But I would like to think that I would know about any North Korea–Venesuela relations. Certainly I know more about North Korea than Venesuela. CRGreathouse (t | c) 13:48, 14 October 2006 (UTC)

I'm amused to see that my above paragraph is an echo of Zleitzen's post in the Chavez talk. I didn't read it until after I wrote the above. Our points are essentially the same: "rogue nation" is a tricky label, but it doesn't seem appropriate (here at least) for Cuba. I think it is quite appropriate for North Korea, but since we seem to agree that there's no evidence that NKorea and Venesuela have particularly warm ties that's a non-issue. It is clear you are exhaustive in defending the Chavez government. My knowledge of Spanish is limited. However, I have re-read and translated the many articles and only a very dense person would ignore the jarring photographs of this shooting, and the numerous reports indicating participation by the government-controlled policia metropolitana, policia sucre, the government food chain mercal--all of whom have identifiable persons, and view this as anything but a government-sponsored shooting. the Chavez prosercutors freed these guys for chrissake's! Halvorssen entry

JSRP, you speak Spanish. The men caught on camera shooting Maritza Ron are free. This entry is becoming silly in that it has so many references to meet your standards. The many sources contain all of the information that needs to be verified. It may not be immediately following every claim but it is all there. For instance you wrote that Sucre Mayor Jose Vicente Rangel (calling him the Vice President's son is needed inasmuch as they have the same name) info needs to be verified. It's there. see [2] and [3]. It has always been there. Your constant toying with this (which I am happy to respond to given the amount of time I have devoted to this entry) is a form of vandalism. Would that someone applied these standards to you...it would make editing impossible and wikipedia unworkable. Julie411 18:24, 17 October 2006 (UTC)

Alphabetical Order

Don't use alphabetical order as an excuse to put chavez first everywhere you see it. I have balanced it having them swithc on and off. Every article that has been on the main starting page in the past three days have stuff not in alphbetical order, obviosly your trying to slant it a certain way. I don't often agree with JRSP, but he is right on this one. There are two ways we can choose how to list candidates: alphabetically, or by incumbency first - either way, Chavez ends up first. I don't think it a matter much worth worrying about. SandyG 02:00, 5 November 2006 (UTC)

I can not remember anymore where it was that I read it, so I agree with your removal. ALBA Removal

Excuse me, but how is what you just deleted from the page on the Bolivarian Alternative for the Americas (ALBA) justified? How is it POV to contrast ALBA with FTAA by stating that it is more of a barter system of state-controlled resources and services when the rest of the article clearly and unambigiously says so in its examples? There was no value judgment in the text as to whether this is good or bad, so how is it POV? This is a classic example of something that should be discussed on a talk page *BEFORE* something is deleted as you've done, and I'm going to watch your next move on this carefully. I don't know much about Venezuela...only that it supplies like 15% of the oil in the US. So is oil the major production in Venezuela, or is that overstated?
