Lacey Sculls[edit]

Regarding the page you created, since we don't need two articles on the same person, you may wish to formally propose that the already existing article be moved to the page you created. You can do so on the talk page of the existing article. 331dot (talk) 10:23, 10 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I have redirected it back to Lacey Conner. Please do not restore it. You did a copy-paste move, which screws up the attribution. If you want the page renamed, you'll need to contact an administrator. You can do so by following the instructions at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. I'll post a standard template that explains copy-paste moves. May 2016[edit]

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give a page a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. PLEASE HELP. I am the personal assistant to the reality tv star Lacey Sculls. Lacey hired me to transfer all webpages relating to her, so that they will reflect her NEW, LEGAL last name. Her maiden name "Conner" is no longer being used. So far, I have successfully switched "Lacey Conner" to "Lacey Sculls" on Facebook. I successfully switched "Lacey Conner" to "Lacey Sculls" on instagram. I successfully switched "Lacey Conner" to "Lacey Sculls" on twitter. Now I am trying to do the same on her wikipedia page, and it is proving to be extremely difficult. I created "Lacey Sculls", but editors keep reverting it back to Lacey Conner, which Lacey explicitly asked me to correct this. I have tried multiple times to correct this, but I am at a loss, because editors keep putting it back to the name she is not using. Someone on wikipedia then told me to use a "move" button, which I cannot find. I don't know what to do anymore. Things are so seemingly so strict on here. Can you please help me? I am so frustrated. I am spending hours on something that I thought would only take a few minutes. I would like the Lacey Conner page to redirect to the Lacey Sculls page, not the other way round. I kindly ask for your help. You are welcome to verify this by contacting Lacey directly: LaceySculls@gmail.com Thank you. 08:45, 11 May 2016 (UTC)JSSanders

Thank you for posting on this page. Please read the following:
  • Please review the paid editing policy(as Sculls' representative) as well as the conflict of interest policy. You have already complied with the paid editing policy by stating how you are paid, but you should still be aware of it and conflict of interest. In short, you should not directly edit in areas where you have a conflict, instead suggesting edits or changes on the talk page first.
  • The issue with the name change you are attempting to post isn't the name change itself, but the manner in which you are doing so. The original page at her maiden name needs to be moved to the new name by an administrator, so the edit history of the page is maintained. Simply copy and pasting the page content does not do that, which is why your efforts were reverted. Please post the explanation of the need for the page move on the article talk page, Talk:Lacey Conner, and I would be willing to help you get the attention of an administrator with your request.
  • I would lastly clarify that things are likely more strict here because this is not social media, but an encyclopedia with certain standards and requirements for inclusion, as well as community processes to make notable changes. Unlike social media, article subjects do not own their pages, nor does anyone.

I hope the above has helped you. If you have further questions, please post them here. 331dot (talk) 09:21, 11 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I made the request for you, JSSanders. I think it will go through very soon now. If there's a problem, we can resolve it easily enough – hopefully. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 04:26, 13 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Bearcat (talk)

@Bearcat:

Hi Bearcat! Thank you so much for taking the time to let me know what some of the issues are, regarding the Lacey Sculls wikipedia page. I truly appreciate your assistance. :-) In response to your comment - you said: "I also note that you have declared yourself in past edit summaries as Lacey's personal assistant" .....to respond to this - it is true that I WAS Lacey Sculls' assistant. However, I stopped working for her about a year ago due to scheduling conflicts, and I am simply a fan now. That said, I am still very much a fan of hers. Also - I am a fan of wikipedia. I love wikipedia, and I'm on here all of the time, reading articles that interest me or that education me. Honestly, I was also using Lacey Sculls' wikipedia page as a learning curve for me, so that I can gain education and a little experience, so that I can *hopefully* become a better editor and have the ability to contribute more to OTHER wikipedia pages, in the future. Also, just to shed some light on the Lacey Sculls wikipedia page situation....I was *not* the original publisher of Lacey Sculls' wikipedia page. It existed long before I came along, or ever made any edits to it. Also, when you wrote, "it has to meet our standards of notability and sourceability, not standards of Lacey's own personal choice"....with all due respect, this is not Lacey Sculls' doing. To reiterate, I am simply a fan of hers. And again, others have contributed to her page too, during the first year that it existed on wikipedia (before I came along). And lastly, you wrote that "quality of sources is more important than quantity -- one good source can count for more..." and you also stated that the sources that I listed were not good quality, or they only "mentioned" Lacey Sculls. I truly appreciate your feedback on this, and for your help it giving me better insight into how to become a better editor for wikipedia. With all due respect, to respond to what you wrote - several sources that I listed DID features on Lacey Sculls - they were NOT just "mentions" of Lacey Sculls. And most of them ARE creditable sources! (1) The Dallas Observer, (2) Chicago Music Guide (3) Vh1 - the television network (4) Cleveland Pride.org (5) The Herald, in Sharon, Pennsylvania, (6) Thrillist, and (7) Blabbermouth *are all reputable newspapers and/or publications* that have been in existence for well over a decade, and all have done full articles or write-ups on Lacey Sculls (formerly Lacey Conner), NOT just "mentions". These 7 sources that I mentioned specifically, are also not written by bloggers. They are legitimate publications, newspapers, and/or magazines (and one is a TV network!) that wrote articles on Lacey Sculls, by legitimate writers and editors. That said, would you suggest that I should delete the sources that are not considered to be "good" sources? (For instance, you mentioned Buddy TV as not being a reliable source - I can delete that "source" if you think it's necessary, as well as some of the other sources that you mentioned as not being "good" ones.) Would that help, if I did that? Lacey Sculls was a primary character on one of the highest rated TV shows in Vh1 history, she has been the lead singer for multiple prominent bands, and is listed on at least 4 other wikipedia pages for her contributions to entertainment, music, and animal welfare & legislation - AND, she had a wikipedia page that was written by someone else long before I came along, and was allowed to exist on wikipedia for a couple of years. Lastly, I must point out that I've seen many current wikipedia pages that exist right now, of people who worked alongside Lacey Sculls in the SAME bands and in the SAME television shows that Lacey Sculls was simultaneously also a part of, and those people ARE allowed to have a wikipedia page. As a fan of hers, this confuses me why they are considered to be "notable" enough to be on wikipedia, but Lacey Sculls is not considered "notable", when they all worked in literally the exact same bands and tv shows. That said, I truly appreciate your time, assistance, and consideration. I hope I can bring this wikipedia page to a place that you find suitable for wikipedia, and again, I appreciate your feedback which in turn helps me to become a better wikipedia editor. :-) I also hope this e-mail and text comes across in the respectful tone that I intended it to be. :-) Thank you for your time. Take care. Sincerely, Jen Sanders JSSanders JSSanders (talk) 07:07, 26 October 2017 (UTC) JSSanders (talk[reply]
