Late Welcome[edit]

Hi, J Smithy, Late welcome to Wikipedia!

I'm sure you like this place — I sure do — and want to stay. Before getting too in-depth, you may want to read about the Five pillars of Wikipedia and simplified ruleset. If you need help on how to title new articles check out the naming conventions, and for help on formatting the pages visit the manual of style. If you need help look at Wikipedia:Help and the FAQ , plus if you can't find your answer there, check the Village Pump (for Wikipedia related questions) or the Reference Desk (for general questions)! There's still more help at the Tutorial and Policy Library. Plus, don't forget to visit the Community Portal. And if you have any more questions after that, feel free to post them on my user talk page or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and someone will be by to help you shortly.

Thanks. Will make sure to do it in the future. Smithy

Happy Wiki-ing, and sorry for the late welcome ;)

2000 AD[edit]

Thanks for the starting those entries. I also thought I'd pop in and point in the direction of a list of entries that need doing on the 2000 AD talk page so if you are wondering what to do next ;) Whatever you do keep up the good work. (Emperor 19:31, 2 July 2006 (UTC))[reply]

A quick note to say 2000AD have updated the prog 1500 details and I added links to the sereies profiles. I also agree that the cover of prog 1502 would be a good one to illustrtae Stone Island (see the talk page for others thoughts). Also I've expanded my thoughts on splitting off the glossary and timeline from the main entry [1] and all input on it is greatfully received, especillay if I'm barking up the wrong tree ;) (Emperor 23:59, 24 August 2006 (UTC))[reply]

Caballistics[edit]

Just a quick note to say there is a Caballistics, Inc. entry (with a comma apparently). It seems pretty good but I have noted a few areas that could be expanded on the 2000 AD to do list. (Emperor 12:56, 6 July 2006 (UTC))[reply]

Bit of a late thank you[edit]

Just a quick wee post to say thanks to the both of you! And Emperor (if you can read this), don't suppose you can give me a link to a page where I can join the 2000AD page or just basic comics page? Cheers dudes! Smithy

No worries - its always good to have an enthusiastic and knowledgable contributor. Looks like you've found what you were looking for but mst comics pages have a panel at the top going to the comic project page and you can dig out the comic portal too. I tend not to get that invovled with the community aspect - that might just be me, of course, but the comics area is rather US-focused and you can usually spot the right people to talk to by looking at the Talk pages and the editting history so if you need to consult you can find the right person quite quickly. I've been using the 2000 AD talk page to keep the whole 2000 AD moving along so people can drop in and everything keeps moving without too much need for a lot of hassle. Basically you'll pick things up as you go along (I have a Notepad file with scraps of code and useful categories and stubs so I can usually fix up a page and add the relevant bits in (like the categories I added to the Malone and Stone Island pages). A couple of tips on things I noticed from recent edits:
  • Naming conventions - if the entry you want is taken, like Stone Island then the next step is to go with the name plus something like (comics). Its not a big issue with the 2000 AD stories and if someone does object to it they can always move it (the important thing, after all, is to have the information in - it can be tweaked and tidied up or moved with little fuss).
  • Using the "pipe" (i.e. = |) on links - it neatens them up so John Burns (comics) becomes John Burns (click edit to see the example working).

Anyway hope that helps (feel free to ask if you have any other queries) - happy editting :) (Emperor 23:46, 10 August 2006 (UTC))[reply]

Please Use Edit Summaries[edit]

When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labeled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:

Edit summary text box

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field, especially for big edits or when you are making subtle but important changes, like changing dates or numbers. Thank you. Metros232 14:20, 11 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for that. Is that what appears on an articles history? Smithy

Yep. When you look down the history list you can see what people have said they've done. Clicking on "last" shows the changes that were made as soemtimes its just a letter or comma (or "is a big poopy head" which can often go undetected for a while if you aren't careful). (Emperor 01:48, 12 August 2006 (UTC))[reply]

Origins[edit]

Yeah why not add the plot as things go on? I've sketched out a quick outline and as new issues emerge it might as well be updated. I've already thrown in the "future comic" tag and while it doesn't allow for crystal ball attempts at guessing the plot it covers the regular updating of an entry like that as the information comes in - it can then be tidied (and tightened) up later on.

I also added an image to the Lobster Random entry - I had a look at the TPB cover but it is rather confusing and unclear and would look poor shrunken down so I went for that one which also includes little plot elements too. (Emperor 01:48, 12 August 2006 (UTC))[reply]

Just a quick note to say I removed the "Part 1" header as there is no real need for it. The plot should be kept as concise as possible and cover the main part of the story - its not really necessary (or desirable) to just precis the action in each installment (not much of an issue here but the Stone Island one is probably a bit more than is required. (Emperor 02:54, 13 August 2006 (UTC))[reply]

Suggestions[edit]

As you are working in the general area with the Malone and Stone Island entries do you fancy starting the Simon Coleby and/or Simon Davis ones? I have bits and bobs I can scrape together and throw in once things are up and running ;) (Emperor 13:34, 20 August 2006 (UTC))[reply]

OK no worries - I'm a fan of starting of a stub strongly and so its best not to rush in if you don't feel confident about it. I reckon I can scrape together bibliographies from a lot of what has been added to other entries so I'll look into that. I want to get Shakara started and then I'll look them. (Emperor 01:13, 23 August 2006 (UTC))[reply]
Oooo - how about Go-Machine? (Emperor 01:39, 23 August 2006 (UTC))[reply]
Not having part one shouldn't be a big deal - these things are collaborative ventures so somoene (me?) should be able to fill in any gaps. (Emperor 13:25, 23 August 2006 (UTC))[reply]
They've now fully updated the past progs so the Stone Island cover is here (I can sort it out if we are agreed on this) and another possible suggestion springs to mind: Banzai Battalion [2]
OK cool. If you want me to sort out uploading the image then let me know (you have to get the licensing right - but I can always double check so its no biggie). Also it doesn't matter if you can supply all the information to a new entry - the iportant thing is that it is there (so other people can add things without much hassle) and has enough inforation to justify its ongoing existence ;) (Emperor 18:20, 25 August 2006 (UTC))[reply]
Go-Machine and Banzai Battalion have now both been started. I've expanded them a bit but they need more info (Emperor 18:06, 31 August 2006 (UTC))[reply]

Images - The V.C.s and others[edit]

OK I added in the image there as well as an info box for the team and some other information. Thanks for the feedback. On the images front I have suggested a couple that could go with the Banzai Battalion entry on its talk page. I also realise I haven't added the Stone Island one yet - if we are agreed on that I can sort it out asap. I suspect a Malone one will be along soon. (Emperor 15:13, 3 September 2006 (UTC))[reply]

Oh and a bit further afield I was wodnering about a Judge Giant image (Emperor 15:15, 3 September 2006 (UTC))[reply]

Which I see you added. Looks good. Anything needed to be done on the article itself? Smithy 23:29, 16 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Info on The Polity, pictures of the aliens and an expanded plot.--SGCommand (talkcontribs) 12:48, 18 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

2000 AD glossary and Universe[edit]

They are now both moved out of my sandbox: 2000 AD glossary and 2000 AD Universe. I have dropped a few thoughts in on expanding them both onto the talk pages. (Emperor 19:15, 14 September 2006 (UTC))[reply]

Hi!!! (The V.C.s) related[edit]

Hi, I noticed that you contributed to some 2000ad articles. If you like to help futher, you can "flesh out" the Alien Races section on The V.C.s, particulary the Geek or the Polity section.--SGCommand (talkcontribs) 20:42, 16 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

2000 AD Universe up for deletion[edit]

2000 AD Universe has been put up for deletion - we'd appreciate input on the discussion to gain as balanced a view as possible (Emperor 22:01, 19 September 2006 (UTC))[reply]
