Reference 1 (The water resources and characteristics of Xi River Basin) is the introduction of Xi River Basin. It mentions the basic characteristics of Xi River. Some useful information can be found in the abstract part of this journal.

Hi JackJiangZZ - I’m a limnologist, and I did my PhD at Simon Fraser University. I studied water quality and chemistry in a large arctic river delta, and am particularly interested in the times of year when things change rapidly – for example, when ice cover melts in the spring or when high-water (flooded) periods occur. You’ve done a nice job improving the Wikipedia article on the Xi River. You’ve added quite a bit of useful, relevant information to the article, and I really liked the sections that you added about environmental impacts and current issues. I have some feedback and suggestions for you to consider as you wrap up your assignment, which I’ll outline section-by-section here:

Lead

  • I think your lead section is good, but contains some information in the last two sentences that is out of place. Each of the uses that you mention (agriculture, shipping/transportation, power generation) could be expanded into a few sentences, with all of this information organized in a separate section of the article (maybe “Human Uses of the River”?) This would give some more context to the river basin and how it’s used by nearby communities.
  • Make sure you link to other Wikipedia pages whenever possible – this allows readers to quickly access additional information. For example, you could add links to China, the Yangtze River, and Qujing City.
  • There’s some information in the lead in the existing version of the Xi River page (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xi_River) that could be incorporated into your lead as well.

Environmental Impacts

  • Add a reference (with inline citation) to back up the first sentence in this section.
  • Add links to other Wikipedia pages whenever possible (organic and inorganic carbon, the two rivers that are mentioned by name).
  • Can you expand on the information in this section to discuss how these environmental impacts affect the biotic and abiotic environment in the river? For example, do the environmental impacts lead to changes in nutrient levels, algal blooms, or changes in sediment transport in the river? I think this would be interesting to include.

Current Issues

  • There’s a lot of interesting facts in this section! You’ve done a good job pulling them together.
  • Each sentence in this section makes a statement of fact, and therefore requires a reference (and inline citation) to support it.
  • Can you quantify the population increase in the basin? This would be good information to include.
  • Add links to other Wikipedia pages whenever possible.

Other Suggestions

  • The existing page for this article (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xi_River) has some good information in it as well. When you merge your edits and additions into the existing article, make sure you keep the sections listing the major cities along the river and the other parts of the Xi River system.
  • If you have time, it would be helpful to add a section on the general ecology of the river basin. This would be a good place to discuss the climate in the basin (which is currently discussed in your lead), as well as landcover.
