Hello, Jackheart314, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few links to pages you might find helpful:

You may also want to take the Wikipedia Adventure, an interactive tour that will help you learn the basics of editing Wikipedia.

If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or click here to ask for help on your talk page, and a volunteer should respond shortly. Again, welcome! --David Biddulph (talk) 18:41, 12 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I can find this image elsewhere on the Internet. Did you take the photo yourself? If not, then we may have a problem: We take copyright very seriously, and most photos on Wikipedia have to be either your own work or someone else's work but free to use. Most pictures on the Internet are not free to use in the sense we use. Anon126 (notify me of responses! / talk / contribs) 19:32, 12 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The image now does show up, but its placement in the article on the Poe Cottage is unnecessary. The article, for its length, is already well illustrated. Further, Wikipedia frowns on stacking images one on top of another, even on different sides. I would recommend that you do not re-add until the article is long enough to justify another illustration. Good luck with your editing. --Midnightdreary (talk) 11:39, 13 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I hope this helps, but I fixed the categorization for the two images of the rocking chair you added. They can now be seen by any user reading the Poe Cottage Wikipedia page by clicking on the link to the photo gallery at Wikimedia Commons at the bottom (under External Links). So your images are easy to find and viewable by others, even if not actively on the page itself. I hope that's useful to you. --Midnightdreary (talk) 11:47, 13 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Jack, you might want to familiarize yourself more with Wikipedia before making big edits. The information you added to the Poe Cottage article was cut and paste from a different web site. This is a violation of copyright (see WP:COPYVIO). Any text you add should be something you wrote yourself but which can be attributed to reliable, published sources using proper citations. I'm also somewhat suspicious of one of the images you uploaded -- are both these photos ones that you took yourself? --Midnightdreary (talk) 18:28, 13 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Co-op mentor[edit]

Hi Jack! I'm Jethro, a coordinator at The Co-op. Thanks for making your profile. I wanted to introduce you to your mentor, Yunshui, who should be coming around shortly to get things started. I see you're interested in uploading an image to Wikipedia. I think a good place to get started is to ask whether you own the image (or not), and where you're interested in uploading it. You can reply back here, just below my message. Thanks, I, JethroBT drop me a line 20:32, 12 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Jackheart314,I'm Yunshui - and conveniently, I'm about to be offline for the next four days; how's that for timing? However, I do have something useful up my sleeve for you - take a wander through User:Yunshui/Images for beginners, which will hopefully give you a starting point for working with images on Wikipedia. I'll look in on you on Tueday once I'm back at my screen. All the best, Yunshui  21:12, 12 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent editing history at Edgar Allan Poe Cottage shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you get reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.
You are edit warring to include very poorly written content and a very poor quality photo that adds nothing useful to the article. Theroadislong (talk) 19:28, 13 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
