Some cookies to welcome you!

Welcome to Wikipedia, Jambay! I am Matthewrbowker and have been editing Wikipedia for quite some time. Thank you for your contributions. I just wanted to say hi and welcome you to Wikipedia! If you have any questions check out Wikipedia:Questions, or feel free to leave me a message on my talk page or type {{helpme}} at the bottom of this page. I love to help new users, so don't be afraid to leave a message! I hope you like the place as much as I do and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Also, when you post on talk pages you should sign your name using four tildes (~~~~); that should automatically produce your username and the date after your post. Again, welcome!

Thanks for the cookies... looks like I don't deserve them from response to edits I've made so far. Hope to earn them, or at least enjoy them, in the future. Jambay (talk) 23:01, 28 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

In addition to the cookies, appreciate your edits - even when you User:Matthewrbowker removed my text :).

Links![edit]

These should help get you up to speed. But not as much as your first 1000 edits. 1 at a time!

Cheers! Ocaasi c 04:08, 1 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks - including "whack", "go here", and, try "this", (sorry) - only been online for a week and already got the "you should know this" from anyone I have tried to "talk" to. It has been fun, and hope it will be so in the future. No disregard or retribution meant at User:Ocaasi, you have been helpful, and I appreciate that.

The only problem with acting like you know what you're doing is then people expect you to know what you're doing. Ask questions and feign ignorance for a few weeks; You'll get plenty of help. Use talk pages prodigiously. Read help documentation. Read talk page archives. Carpenters measure twice and cut once. You should read 8 and edit 1/2. Good luck!! I've done both, and gotten help and disappointment. The latter made me sad; I will try to do better - Observe and learn. Not meant to be an "act" - I actually know what I'm doing, just don't know how to do it for you. (now that's funny).

Easier said than done: Be an example of civility, then move on. Find good editors and hang around them. Make sure you're not missing something (how can you know what you're doing here if you just started). Knowing what you're doing is different from knowing a lot about a lot. Wikipedia is its own language and culture. Spend some time there before you become an expert. No need to go native before you can speak. Don't burn out. You have a lot of promise. After several discussions, would like to nominate Ocaasi as an excellent mentor, reference, and aid for WP general staff. Jambay (talk) 08:08, 6 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Bad grammar[edit]

Yes, it's atrocious, wish I never did it. I have misused "you're" for "your" (sometimes You are is more suited to the context than "your" as in "it belongs to you"); though still get my point across; or so I believe. My apologies to any and all offended. I'd Like to say "get over it", but I must first "get over" my point of view, and then bring you to understand what I am trying to say.

That's it in a "nut shell". Have fun with it... Punctuation, that's a whole-different problem.

Smash!

You've been squished by a whale!
Don't take this too seriously. Someone just wants to let you know you did something really silly.
