Okay, sorry but at this point, I really can't promise to do a review. RL is about to become really busy for me, too. I could just do a relatively cursory ER for you, but whenever I do something like that, I always prefer instead to do a more thorough job. When I come on Wikipedia I generally do maintenance and some editing, so things like this usually slip my mind. Emjaymj, I understand that you think the article Chromium polynicotinate is promotional. However, it doesn't qualify for being speedy deleted as a spam page; myself and another administrator both declined your speedy deletion tags, and leaving me a warning template is not going to get you anywhere. Hi Deepak. I deleted the article as a result of this deletion discussion ("AfD"): Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Prevail Health Solutions. It looks like the article did have sources, but the organization failed to meet our notability guidelines. Four editors researched and agreed that the subject was not notable per Wikipedia's standards, and so I closed the discussion as "delete". Unfortunately, there's not much you can do at this point. PHS doesn't meet Wikipedia's requirements for general notability; and if you recreated the article at this point, it could be deleted as "recreation of deleted material" (as decided through a deletion discussion). If you wish to contest the deletion, DRV is an option. However, you might not be very successful since the company doesn't seem have enough external reliable source coverage to be deemed "notable". Requested move James Anaya

Thanks JamieS93 for so promptly responding to request. All that happened is that I received e-mail notice of James Anaya's arrival in Australia, in which he was referred to only as James Anaya, with link to his biography page referring to himself as James Anaya.

On doing Wikisearch I found no article for James Anaya and only one for S James Anaya, which is a name not entirely consistent with Wikipedia:Naming_conventions#People, and I find it hard to imagine talking about him or meeting up with him and calling him "S", or "S James"!

Will, howver, leave it with you! Again, thanks!

Discussion logs

Sorry for not posting the logs, but there is some difficulty in abuse reports. Currently, there are only 3 active participants at abuse reports, JamesR, bsmithme, and myself. JamesE is working on the bot that will automatically archive and move the reports as necessary, while bsmithme and myself are handling the cleanup of abuse reports. bsmithme and I have been communicating through AIM, so there are minimal logs on WIkipedia. Would it be possible for you to ask bsmithme about the discussion on no longer using talk pages? We came to the conclusion through AIM. Sorry for any difficulty I might have caused. I toned it down.

I did tone down the rhetoric on my warning. The user is currently continuing the streak of creating non contextual articls past your requests. I do feel the level of warning was warranted however as I see one person prior to you counseled him on the same thing and four articles later we were still having the same issues. Yeah, a warning is definitely warranted in this situation, since I just noticed that he's continuing to create a group of incomplete articles, and apparently not checking his talkpage. Not sure about this case; I usually try letting some time elapse in case the author didn't realize what they were doing, but it may call for either improving or deleting a big group of pages after some time has passed. I'd usually rather save articles than delete them, but I'll just keep an eye on this user and hopefully will be able to eventually deal with it (if I'm still around). As I view it, it doesn't exactly hurt the encyclopedia to let a bunch of short articles stay in the mainspace for an extra hour (unlike attack pages or copyvios), because I'd rather the author have a chance to realize their mistake. Undeletion request

Hi. Please could you undelete Talk:British Birds Rarities Committee\FAC? This page exists to enable a discussion on the outstanding points resulting from a recent failed FA nomination. The FA nomination as now been closed, and so users cannot edit that page. There are three editors waiting to add contributions on topic within the discussion, but they now don't have anywhere to make those contributions. Sure, I've restored it. As long as somebody has a decent use for it, the page doesn't have to be deleted. :) From an outsider's perspective, it just looked like an unnecessary copy of the FAC; sorry about the trouble. Can't think of any other method of doing what you described, since a sub-page would probably work fine. BTW, I moved the page from "\" to "/", since subpages are formatted with a forwardslash. Yeah, I'd say it would be best to create the article on the day (or 1 day before, for the sake of public readers) it releases. And if the single doesn't chart much within a month or two, that bridge can be crossed when we get there: the article can then either be redirected to the album, or brought to AfD for discussion of notability. I just read this discussion at your talk page. If it were me, I'd still create the article upon the release date, but you may want to reconsider the idea or give it some thought. The view JD represented (at your talk page) is a more policy-based mindset, and probably the norm for most of the community. My view (under the important condition that you have good reliable sources) is based on the "readers first" concept, something that I believe is important and should always been considered to one degree or another. The idea "have a decent article out there for the readers, and deal with the notability question once the charts come in" might not be agreed upon by everybody. However, I've worked a lot with articles and notability, and to me it's the most reasonable idea. Otherwise, we'll have some frustrated newcomers who want to write an article for the song. It's proper to stick to a good standard of notability in most cases, but rules should be forfeited every once in a while, if it's the most reasonable choice. A high-profile band's latest single, if it's confirmed through some reliable sourcing, deserves an article. And if it doesn't chart, people can talk about it and nuke the page if necessary. ;) But make sure that you have a) reliable sources about "Strawberry Swing", and b) be prepared for the possibility that it might lack notability (later on) for its own long-term article. Subhuti Dharmananda, Michael Tierra, Christopher Hobbs

Please reconsider. The only credential for Dharmananda, apart from having a degree and owning a company, would be teaching at "Platonic school of Herbal Studies". The other "faculty members", Michael Tierra and Christopher Hobbs (herbalist) have been added in 2007 by KSvaughan2 as a part of the same advertisement campaign. These people are simply a company of practitioners trying to promote themselves. This is a blatant ad. There are thousands of such practitioners. They would belong to a page "List of alternative medicine practitioners in California", if such page existed. Btw. Tierra and Hobbs are both speedy candidates (I didn't tag them yet). The purpose of speedy deletion is generally for cases where deletion doesn't require reasoning, debate or agreement among editors. To be honest, this sounds like a point that has to be persuaded. You could be very right in your assessment of those articles (I personally haven't done a notability search), but the Dharmananda article is not a speedy candidate as it stands. G11 is primarily used for two purposes: 1) alleviating content that has a strong positive POV in the literal verbage, or 2) a page that's being promotional by only having external links and basic info ("for more information, call 555..."). Like I said, there's WP:PEACOCK problems, but an average reader wouldn't go "wow, the author of this article is trying to be awfully positive about this guy". Since you're also challenging the article(s) notability, it sounds like an AfD is the next option. Present your rationale at AfD, and that way you can get the input of others. I read the article again and reconsidered the speedy decline, but I still hold to my initial decision. I hope that clears things up. Best, JamieS93 13:01, 13 September 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for your explanation, it's been a long time since I did something on WP. Ksvaughan2, herself an initiated webmistress with an online store, seems to have PR reasons only for being a WP editor. She carries out her own business presentation on her user page, which is of course completely O.K., but for this reason or that, she also keeps adding to WP her herbalist buddies from California. Nobody cares about them enough to edit them, but I seem to care enough to AfD them. No. 1 US ethnobotanist is (objectively) James_A._Duke. If her intention is to improve WP in general, why doesn't she begin with him? Irish Countrysports and Country Life

I would like to ask you specfically how you reckoned our Irish Countrysports and Country Life magazine piece lacked notability. I have reviewd some of your own submissions compared to ours and on a simple browser count ICS&CL comes out well ahead of them!

However I consider ICS&CL is notable because not only is it Ireland's premier hunting, shooting, fishing and country lifestyle magazine but also Ireland's longest continuously published magazine of its type or in fact any type. Although it serves a primarily Irish market through its companion portal www.countrysportsandcountrylife.com it serves a fairly large international audience who wish to know about country sports in Ireland.

Hi Albert. The article was originally tagged for "proposed deletion" because an editor believed the subject to be non-notable per our notability guidelines for magazines. Nobody contested the proposal over 7 days, so I deleted the article based on the process. Since you contested deletion, though, I've undeleted the page. I would recommend, however, that you add information (backed by reliable sources) that might prove that the subject is notable. The standard of "notability" on Wikipedia is objective, so take a look at this specific list of criteria for magazine notability, and it may help you. Best, JamieS93 12:24, 13 September 2009 (UTC)

I believe it's more of a difference of opinion rather than a "problem", but it's the Singles list (under the "focused" section of the GA review). I basically replied saying "I can't agree", and pinged Zeagler about it. He's been less active recently, so he might not get back to the review yet. I was going to wait for him to return, but like I said, it wasn't a major point on the GA review, so I wouldn't be surprised if another editor came along and passed the article. What happend was that I moved (redirected) the page by mistake (i was confused over the number in the title). I wanted to undo this. So I recreated the original page, and speedy-deleted the "moved to" page. Hi there. On Wikipedia, our main goal is to write a "neutral" encyclopedia source; and thus, we cannot accept material that sounds either positive or negative about a certain subject. For example, "Dr. Hossein Eslambolchi is one of the greatest minds of the 21st century [...] His illustrious and unparalleled career began in 1986..." is not coming from a "neutral point-of view"; instead, it sounds slanted in a positive direction about the subject. More importantly, the article's text was copied from your website which is fully copyrighted. Wikipedia is a open content website, so all contributions must be in compliance with with the GFDL. This, along with the fact that the text was promotional, is the reason that I deleted the page.

You mentioned that you work for Eslambolchi; please note that editing with a conflict of interest is generally discouraged. However, if you wish to recreate the page, remember these points: 1) Use your own words, without copying from the website, to give a basic description of him. 2) Keep the description fairly simple and netural. It's not one particular comment, but the persistence of them all. I'm all for pointing out faulty RfX rationales and bluntly/politely giving somebody "what for" with a particularly weird oppose, but Matt unfortunately took this to an extended level that became unhelpful. People like to throw around the "badgering" term too much, but I think this was an example of it. I think his comments only made the situation, an already hectic RfB, a more contentious place. I agreed with Anonymous Dissident at oppose #28. Matt's behavior in Julian's RfB is only an example of my gut feel, and I don't think I'd oppose over that issue alone. I'll have to think over this one, but I do agree with OwenX that his behavior there (and for me, in general from what I've seen) is concerning. Best, JamieS93 13:46, 19 September 2009 (UTC)

Nah, I don't think so. The RfB was only contained within itself (no outside ANI threads), but it was just especially "high-activity" because Julian is so well-known. And a very well-known editor in a split-opinion RfX inevitably attracts drama and dispute from both sides. I actually think that MBisanz's RfB wasn't as stressful/drama-causing with the candidate, even though there was a WP:BN discussion about the closure, as I recall. Main page image protection

Hello! Please remember to protect an image (after uploading it locally if it's stored at Commons) before placing it in a DYK queue or otherwise adding it to the main page. The cascading protection feature no longer functions reliably, so File:Palms - Southern Pacific Railroad Depot.jpg appeared on the main page unprotected (and therefore subject to vandalism) for more than ninety minutes. Undeletion request

Can you please undelete STUDENT_SENATE_FOR_CALIFORNIA_COMMUNITY_COLLEGES?

I spent SOOO long on it and to find it deleted really set me off. It was my first ever page that I created and since I was a statewide student representative actually A PART of this organization it really reflected badly that you deleted it out of no where. I finally discovered just now why you deleted it and you said because "it was a direct copy off of a powerpoint presentation" ON OUR OWN SITE! Well, I didnt know I had to give my own organization kudos for something we created. Furthermore, I wouldnt know how to source it anyway. But I will learn if you undelete it and show me how? :P I would seriously appreciate it and the 2.6 million community college students of California would also. Thank you very much.

I have no idea what you just said. Please restate that in laymen's terms. I THINK what you are trying to say is that our 30-student council, made up of students ELECTED, by 110 California Community College Student Body Presidents, from ALL OVER CALIFORNIA, is not NOTABLE? Is that what you are trying to say? Because if that is the case, who are you to say it is not? The Board of Governors of the California Community College Chancellors Office as well as .... THE GOVERNOR OF CALIFORNIA, recognize us as a legal entity. I sincerely hope I misunderstood what you meant by "Notability and Verifiability." If the only thing that was need was a simple citation to our studentsenateccc.org website then so be it. Why would you delete something instead of just copying and pasting the link in there where it needs to go?? I mean, you went through all the trouble of LOCATING it... why not just place it in there?? Can you please just put it back and put the link where it needs to go? Or replace the page, and I will go and do it? It really is no big deal. I just dont know all the codes and stuff that I used to edit the page. It took me like LITERALLY 8 HOURS to do it.

Sorry, I hadn't gotten back to you yet. Let me try to explain this from the ground up.

• The entire Wikipedia website is under the GFDL copyright license; that license gives any other website the permission to redistribute our work, as long as Wikipedia is given credit for it. This means that almost all of our text and image content must be newly-created material using your own unique words, and not from fully-copyrighted websites or sources, or else it would technically be a copyright violation to that external website.
• Your article Student Senate for California Community Colleges was heavily copied from this url (I found it through a Google search). Since that url does not appear to state that it's under a GFDL-compatible license, we assume that it's fully copyrighted, like many, many websites are.
• Even if you give a link or attribution to a website that you copied from, it's still not acceptable to have large portions of copyrighted text in articles. Please see WP:NFC#Unacceptable use for info.

I'm sorry that you had to work on this text to have it deleted—I really am sorry. But it still looks like it was a copyright violation, so I'm afraid we can't allow it; it's not just my own opinion, this is a legal matter. Btw, just so you know: whenever you edit a page, there is a notice right above the "save page"/"show preview" buttons that says: Content that violates any copyrights will be deleted ... You irrevocably agree to release your contributions under the CC-BY-SA 3.0 License and the GFDL. You may not have noticed this, I understand, but you were already warned about the copyright issue.

• Also, I'm not sure if the student senate is "notable" or not – again, it's not my own opinion, but instead I'm going by the Wikipedia guidelines laid out here: WP:ORG. If you want to recreate the page, make sure to add several reliable sources that discuss SSCCC (reliable/trustworthy websites that are not related to the organization itself) as references, using the <ref>Citation or url here</ref> coding within the article. Hi Jamie, I SINCERELY appreciate your candor and warmth in what you wrote. I know it wasn't personal. I also understand better now thank you. I do want to know if you can at least email me the coding of the page so that I may redo it with all the necessary edits as per your request. This will help me save hours and hours of work I would have to redo since I am not a computer savy individual. Secondly, (just FYI, the powerpoint presentation I took the large portions of the article from, is not copywritten... and neither is the website). In fact, the powerpoint was written by a dear and close friend and colleague of mine that was ecstatically DELIGHTED that I used her presentation. Her name is Vice Chancellor Linda Michalowski. I am no lawyer, but if the powerpoint she created, that I used for this article, is NOT copywritten, and I indeed ALSO give her credit for writing it, AND I ALSO put enough "reliable/trustworthy" website references in the article, then can it be reposted? Please help me out. I am just a college student really trying to give the students of California a voice as a student leader. Well, on Wikipedia we have certain notability standards for inclusion. For instance, U2 is a very notable band, because they are quite well-known and have received worldwide acclaim. On the other hand, if you decided to start a band in your garage today, it would not be "notable" enough. It's a similar situation with the article you wrote; I'm not questioning whether or not the YouTube videos/channel actually exists. The issue is that it's likely non-notable for inclusion in this encyclopedia. If it somehow has received national recognition or a good deal of media coverage, then it might meet the notability standards. Well, the article was originally split from a section of the Camborne town article. Another user tagged the page as a copyvio, because a good section was copied from [4]. Turns out that the lead of the article was not in violation, though. At the time of deletion, I thought I had searched certain phrases of the lead and it turned up on another copyrighted website. Why was my speedy deletion request declined? I just got done manually changing all the pages the template was transcluded to: Krumping, B-Boy, BOTY, Napoleon and Tabitha D'umo, Vibe Dance Competition, Turfing, Hip-hop dance, World Hip Hop Dance Championships, Dave Scott, and R16. Sure,  Done. :) When you first tagged the redirect, I went to WhatLinksHere, and it looked like the page was transcluded in several locations. The use of "Łódź", with the slashes follows standard wikipedia practice, per WP:Place. It is also used in English language sources, for example [5], [6] (yes, "Lodz" is also used). Furthermore, the inclusion of the, for example "ó", is no different then inclusion of the umlaut in Mödling for example. I would object to this, because Siberian is not a synonym for indigenous peoples of Siberia, and the indigenous peoples are not even a majority in Siberia. It would be like redirecting "Canadian" to a page about the indigenous people of Canada. I agree with Soap. As it stands, the term "Siberian" redirects to the nation. Since the article about Siberian people ("Siberians") was PRODded and deleted because the topic was essentially nonexistent, you actually might be right about that redirect. However, I'm not sure it's accurate, so I might bring the redirect to RfD for discussion. I'm not an expert on the subject, so input from others at RfD might help. RichGirl

Your action of not deleting RichGirl (album) is puzzling. Not least because as an administrator i thought you of all editors would be aware of the need and importance of sources. This article requires extensive sources because the group/artist is borderline on notability. However you declined the speedy deletion citing that the album is soon to be released. Neither of the TWO sources given actually contain the release date and neither give an insite into the album. Without independent coverage, a confirmed name, a confirmed track listing or cover-art how can you justify not deleting this article? (Lil-unique1 (talk) 23:52, 13 October 2009 (UTC))

AfD consensus for deleting an article per WP:CRYSTAL, by default, is a generally temporary decision. Oftentimes future albums which do not have a title are deleted and recreated a few months later when it's sufficiently confirmed and discussed in reliable sources. Thus, that AfD is moot. The RichGirl album article was originally deleted in August. Now it's October, with the release supposedly slated for November. One-month off albums are not commonly deleted via AfD, or at least there's a good chance that the previous decision is now "old consensus". You're right that the article lacks RSs, and maybe the sources aren't out there (I haven't really searched). I'd rather have fresh consensus in this case, purely due to the time lapse - I encourage you to open a second AfD, and we'll see how it turns out. :) It's quite possible that it's best off deleted, although I still tend to think that G4 didn't apply here because we're relying on consensus that was partially dependent on the "future" aspect of the subject. Okay, I got a bit mixed up at first, until I realized that this was the IP's first block. The case was a duplicate and seems unnecessary, so I've redirected it to Mdphd2012's case and made note of the IP's block at Mdphd's archive. I didn't delete it because it was mentioned in 66.134's block summary, and redirects are best to retain history, and makes it easier to track down what happened. Are you aware of the general community standards at RfA, by the way? You only have 600 edits, which is typically considered not enough experience to be an administrator, so your RfA would likely be unsuccessful. If you wish to continue, though, follow the steps at the linked page. Don't be surprised if several people start opposing you due to lack of experience, though. I placed the deletion tag since I would've moved the page anyways, but there is that nagging issue that is all to well known. UnBlocking request for IP Addresses of BOLT Browser

Hi,

I am Lokesh Joshi and work for Bitstream Inc. (http://boltbrowser.com). We have a very popular mobile browser called BOLT Browser which works on server client architecture. This has minimal load is on the client (mobile phone), and user can experience the Desktop Like browsing experience. For more information please see http://boltbrowser.com.

Recently many of our users reported the following error from Wikipedia while editing the content:

"174.132.56.156 has been disabled by the following reason(s): This IP address has been blocked because it is believed to be an open proxy or xombie computer. To prevent abuse, these proxies may be blocked from editing Wikipedia."

I request you please consider BOLT as legitimate cloud computing based mobile browser. This is not at all an open proxy and users will have to use BOLT client to work through the BOLT servers. More over the originating IP of the handset is available in the headers, so the individual user can be tracked in abuse cases.

Please let me know the steps we can do for the same. I can send the list of the IPs owned by BOLT Browser.

IP reverting edits

Hey Jamie, I don't want to be a pain in the neck, but I have an IP that is making redundant edits on The Chariot (band) and I thought I would notify you so we can avoid an edit war. I have already undone his edit once--it is a genre/style issue, go figure--and he promptly reverted that. Basically, the IP is making it say "Christian metalcore band" when I believe it should be "Christian metal band"; I believe the genre mentioned in the lead should always be a broad definition and then have style goes in the infobox, where it already says metalcore. That's not a bad idea. :) The discussion has already been closed, but I don't think it would be controversial if you'd re-target the redirect to either the "demographics" section, or the Demographics of Siberia article (which would probably be better).
