Conflict of interest in Wikipedia[edit]

Hi Jb4WIKIacc0. All your edits are focused on Jürgen Brosius and are somewhat promotional. Please do be aware of the conflict of interest guideline in Wikipedia. Please see the notice below.

Information icon Hello, Jb4WIKIacc0. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;
  • instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or to the website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies.

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you.

If you have any questions, you can leave me a note below. Do let me know if anything is unclear. Jytdog (talk) 09:59, 18 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Jytdog, the only compensation I obtain from editing certain Wiki entries is the knowledge that everything is correct. To the best of my knowledge, all citations that I added or linked to are rock-solid scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals. Please advise. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jb4WIKIacc0 (talkcontribs) 12:47, 18 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, thanks for your reply. That does not explain your almost singular focus on the Jürgen Brosius article, including adding mentions of that person in other articles like this and this, nor the very close collaboration with Kipepea, who has acknowledged editing that article for pay on behalf of the subject of the article. The evidence makes a connection with Brosius very apparent. Most COI in Wikipedia is not paid editing, but rather external relationships of various kinds. Please do read WP:COISELF for example. Hi - yes, the two additional links to alumni was done by me. If necessary, it can be proven by report cards or other information that the two persons whose profiles were linked are in fact alumni of that school.
What do you suggest? Do you want me to remove those links and ask you to add them again, after you verified the facts? For at least one recent graduate, this link was very beneficial. He contacted the scientist for career advise and was very happy about the information he received.
Likewise, for the links to scientific publications, should I remove them and provide you with the articles (as pdfs). Once you or someone else verifies the facts, you could add them again. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jb4WIKIacc0 (talkcontribs) 09:29, 19 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your reply. Please reply here to keep the thread in one place.
Your response does not address your connection with the subject of the article. Please address it. Thanks. Jytdog (talk) 13:12, 19 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I do not know how o to reply in your thread "Thanks for your reply. Please reply here to keep the thread in one place."
Also, why do I receive 3-4 emails at the same time? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jb4WIKIacc0 (talkcontribs) 14:29, 19 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
You have a talk page just like I do, at User talk:Jb4WIKIacc0. This page. Please reply here. You edit this page just like you edit my talk page.
You are getting emailed notices because that is how your preferences for "notification" are set. You can change how you receive notices by clicking on "preferences" at the very top of this page. The link is here if you cannot find that. The "notifications" tab is all the way to to the right. Jytdog (talk) 14:40, 19 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
