Re: Disputed edits to Mahmoud Asgari and Ayaz Marhoni article[edit]

Hi, Jcvaughan2004 and welcome to Wikipedia. I am sure an administrator, or another Wikipedian will arrive soon to welcome you as well and give you some tips on editing Wikipedia. I'm sure you'll enjoy being a contributor! If ever you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. I am glad you contacted me about the edits to Mahmoud Asgari and Ayaz Marhoni and took the time to explain your edits.

Ok! I reverted your edit for a few reasons - firstly, blogs are not usually considered a reliable source on Wikipedia for various reasons. Generally, anyone with access to a computer can have a blog and merely type what they please. This doesn't make for very reliable source material and blogs often conflict with Wikipedia's policy of maintaining a neutral point of view. Wikipedia articles have to be as objective as possible without a predertermined POV (point of view). We have to let our own personal opinions fall by the wayside and strictly adhere to reliable sourcing and not conjecture, or our own opinions on the article. Secondly, I reverted your edit, because it was a copy and paste from a source, rather than a summation. This could lead to a copyright infringement of the original author. Small, brief quotes attributed to an individual or individuals are fine, but we can't simply reprint an entire section of a source to a Wikipedia article. So, in short, to be safe in the future, please refrain from citing blogs or other overtly POV-pushing sites, do not copy and paste entire written articles, and try to be as non-biased and encyclopedic as you can possibly be. Try to be impartial and not let your own opinions guide your editing, and use reliable sources.

Thanks for your time, and your questions. I am sure you will became a great editor here, and hopefully you'll have a lot of fun doing it! ExRat (talk) 21:33, 22 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
