Wikipedia's policies[edit]

Hello, Jdelpeon.

The bulk of changes you've made to Apple Leisure Group have been reverted, as they violate our copyright policy and also continue to reflect the conflict of interest discussed on the talk page of your now blocked account, User talk:Algdev.

You cannot copy content from your company's websites, news articles about them or press releases unless we have verified license. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for more. Please be advised that verified license does not make content appropriate for Wikipedia; we are not here to serve as a business resource for organizations, but rather to reflect what uninvolved, second-handed sources say about them. While we may quote a source describing a company as a "pioneer", we do not quote the company itself or permit such content to be added with a reliable source and attribution. This is required by our policy on neutral point of view.

This article has a history of being used to promote the company; please be aware that in such cases we may take steps to caution readers - such as flagging promotional content on the face of the article - or protect the article by limiting who is permitted to edit it.

Again, I advise you to read Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 18:15, 22 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Jdelpeon. Thank you for stopping to discuss these issues.
The problem lies in content like "Apple Vacations was a pioneer to many of today’s most popular vacations destinations, such as Cancun, Punta Cana, and Huatulco", " the company carries more leisure travelers to Mexico and the Dominican Republic than any tour operator worldwide", "Each upscale resort combines romantic and holistic experiences with expressive architecture and personalized service", " Each luxury resort combines a high standard of service that few all-inclusive resorts can offer with casual, yet sophisticated style" and "Each resort is luxe, modernist and chic with trendy restaurants and lounges, high-end spas and vibrant nightlife and entertainment." - basically, language that companies are free to use and often do use in describing their own services is just not appropriate for Wikipedia. I appreciate that your more recent edits are much more in line with our goals, although the copying is still an issue, but we need to be mindful that Wikipedia has a very different purpose than webhosts that allow businesses to talk about themselves. You can read more about this at WP:BROCHURE.
Our goal is to be a strictly neutral compendium of what reliable sources say about notable entities. We may quote positive and negative statements about entities, but only in due balance to what sources say, and such quotes must be attributed to a reliable source that is independent of the subject. This is really critical to putting together a good Wikipedia article that will not be challenged or reverted.
I completely understand the impulse to work in an area you know well, but as I noted in your last account we really do not recommend this. It's much better to familiarize yourself with the conventions in articles that are not in any way related to you. If you're going to update information on entities that are in some way connected to you, you should follow the recommendations at WP:COI and update errors only, using the talk page to suggest more extensive changes. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 19:00, 22 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, Jdelpeon. Unfortunately, when copy-pasted content is scattered through an article as it was with your edit, it's often best to simply revert, as I did. I found copy-pasting liberally throughout the article, from https://www.amstardmc.com/pages/about_us.html, http://hispanicexecutive.com/2015/apple_leisure_group/, http://www.travelagentcentral.com/tours-tour-operators/american-express-sells-travel-impressions-apple-leisure-group-40048 and http://www.travelpulse.com/news/features/apple-leisure-group-acquires-competitor-travel-impressions.html. Other editors do not have time to check sentence by sentence to ensure that the content meets our policies, so when problems are scattered as that one, our policy is simply to restore the last version presumed to be clean. I did add back your changes to the infobox, as these are not a copyright concern.
If you are not connected with the source, but just happened to come upon this content and decide to restore it, you take responsibility for it. If you wish to add content to the article, you may do so, but you must make sure the content complies with our policies on copyright, neutrality and verifiability. Please do be aware, however, that there are technical means for determining when two accounts are linked. If you are the same individual who was blocked the day before you registered for adding some of the same content to these articles that you have added, your denial of this could lead to an indefinite block of this account as well for sock puppetry and block evasion. If you have a connection to the subject, it is far better to acknowledge this and work within WP:COI than to risk the article being flagged for conflict editing, as this generally doesn't reflect well on the subject to our readers. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 14:32, 23 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Verifiability[edit]

I'm afraid that you can't verify a claim that "In 2015, the tour operator carries more leisure travelers to Mexico and the Dominican Republic than any tour operator worldwide, and is a large provider to the Caribbean, Costa Rica, and Hawaii." with a source published in 2013. That source doesn't seem to say anything to support that statement being true even as of 2013. Please make sure that you reference reliable published sources to support material you put into the article, especially extraordinary claims like that. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 16:14, 23 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I've removed a few other sentences that do not meet our verifiability policy, including an estimate of visitors to the Caribbean that is sourced to a company statement in a press release related to a partnership. Please review "identifying reliable sources" for the kinds of sources that should be used for remarkable claims. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 16:27, 23 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
