I put up on my user page a userbox that mentioned communists so I took it off after thinking of it cuz it could offend someone. I am not a communist, it was just a joke from The Simpsons made by Grandpa Simpson. I do not in any way support communism. I think that the things they did were just plain evil. Sorry if it offends you that I would put something like that up. ONly reason I put it up is cuz Grandpa Simpson is my favorite character and it was the only userbox that had to do with him. Plus it was sort of funny that he said he wasn't a communist then changed it to saying he was one, but saying he wasn't a porn star. Seth71 07:22, 19 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Seth, stop it. :) I don't care if you are communist. It doesn't matter. What matters here on Wikipedia is that we can write a reliable encyclopedia despite our political leanings. Cheer up, and be yourself. On an aside, I once had a few very good, "sane" conversations with a former "grand dragon" of the KKK, and was not offended. :)- Jeeny Talk 16:10, 19 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm Not a communist just to say it's just a simpsons joke. Seth71 18:04, 19 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I know. I worded my above comment wrongly. I meant to say I understand it is a joke, BUT even IF you were a communist it wouldn't offend me. Not that you were one. I don't watch the Simpsons, not that there's anything wrong with watching it. I personally know people who do, so I am a bit familiar with the un-PC comedy. I find that stuff funny too, even though, like I said, I don't watch the program. lol. Take care. :) - Jeeny Talk 19:14, 19 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Just thought it would bring up the whole white people page thing again about Hitler. Seth71 19:39, 19 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No don't worry about me. Even Hitler had good qualities, as he loved dogs and was a very good painter. ;) - Jeeny Talk 19:55, 19 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Not to mention he conquered all of Europe without ever attending a military school, after fighting in WW1 hoping for nothing more than to die for his country. He took over a Reich in ruins from the aftermath of the Treaty of Versaille, a crippled economy and fragmented government and with his own will, daring and determination formed the most powerful country in the world, with the most powerful armed forces the world has ever seen.
If I had the chance to choose between him and George Bush as my leader, I know who I'd choose. --Phral 11:15, 20 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Why leave the Big Brother article riddled with Spoilers?[edit]

Jeeny, sorry if it seems I am singling you out. That's not the case, but I needed to share my opinion with someone, and you are a major contributor to the BB article.

I really feel that it should be spoiler free. My reasons?

1. The article is about the show, not the live feeds. 2. The live feeds have NO evidence except for OTHER fan run websites and word of mouth, which should not be considered canon until confirmed by CBS. 3. In previous seasons we've seen things changed by CBS. One thing will happen, and then sometimes they will turn off the live feeds and change the outcome. Ive seen it myself, a few years ago someone got into some trouble and they made him eat PB&J as if he lost the competition, and they refilmed it to reflect it. 4. People want to view information on the show, this should not be a spoiler site for people to check and see who's going home, it's informational.

Please consider this.

Fourdee[edit]

Looks like he won't be joining us for a bit, as he got blocked for vandalising a user page and then harrassing them [1].--Ramdrake 22:59, 20 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

BTW, looks like both him and Phral are admirers of Hitler... You thinking what I'm thinking???--Ramdrake 23:05, 20 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yup, saw it, earlier. I think I'm thinking what you're thinking, I think. :) - Jeeny Talk 23:07, 20 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

While it is difficult because he hasn't edited many articles aside from white people, Phral (talk · contribs) reminds me of Hayden5650 (talk · contribs)/Nordic Crusader (talk · contribs). Shared points include the inappropriate use of "negro" on article and talk pages (compare [2][3] with [4][5][6][7],...). I also noticed that they both seem to think of "OJ Simpson" as their example black (note Phral's use of OJ Simpson in the Negro edits and compare to [8]). That's a minor point but it seems more meaningful in the greater picture.

Also, Phral has focused almost entirely upon undoing Muntuwandi's edits and opposing Muntuwandi, much as Hayden5650 did. A simple look at the the contribs of the accounts in question confirms this. It is very odd for a new user to appear with the primary purpose of undoing a certain editor - usually this means that the user is not actually new. On this note, Phral has claimed (as many apparent socks have claimed) that he has been editing as "anon" for awhile [9]. While it is nearly impossible to negate such a vague and unverifiable claim, it does not even explain his familiarity with images [10], nor the obsession with Muntuwandi.

As for his Romani name, I gave a possible explanation here [11]. I also think that there may be a common point over Hitler & Nazi-related issues, but frankly I'm tired of sorting through diffs on dialup. Tell me if you see anything of the sort.

Overall I have trouble believing Phral's creation myth about his account, and am more inclined to think that he is a sock of Hayden5650 primarily because of the agenda against Muntuwandi and the use of "negro." Y'all tell me what you think of this possibility. I've been considering opening a 'suspected sockpuppet' page. Thanks, The Behnam 05:20, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. Add Fourdee too. I think that he may by Phral. Fourdee is blocked, and Phral has not edited since. I wish I could lend you my cable account. :) - Jeeny Talk 05:25, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wow, I seem to have stumbled upon the Anti-Phral club. Go ahead and run a checkuser, looking at Hayden5650 we are not even on the same continent! lol! --Phral 10:56, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

AGF[edit]

It's assume good faith, not blind faith. You are deleting maps with RS. [12] I do believe you are just being stubborn at this point. After our map reverts in White people article, what you are doing now may be considered Wikistalking Enough...KarenAER 04:46, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I see no maps that refer to that source. - Jeeny Talk 04:47, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It is Frost's article [13] "Why Do Europeans Have So Many Hair and Eye Colors?" published in Evolution and Human Behavior journal. [14]. Maps are there, I can access. As I said, enough...KarenAER 04:50, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Then put the maps back, but with those sources, but do not remove the fact tags, or enlarge the images, please. - Jeeny Talk 04:52, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I added the sources in maps' main page, that is what comes when you click on maps. I can add in the main page too if you stop edit warring. You are free to ask for citations but stop deleting blatantly correct and uncontroversial statements such as "A good example of this is the European American, to identify a person from the United States with European ancestry." of a NEW ARTICLE. And you are Wikistalking me. And you are supposed to be an adult woman with a child. Enough...KarenAER 05:03, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Do not tell me enough. That is rude, and against guidelines, And do not accuse me of Wikistalking, which is against policy too. Do not get personal with me, thanks. - Jeeny Talk 05:07, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You have followed me to European people article and continued your edit warring with respect to the maps. I consider it as Wikistalking. I will ask the admins next time. Thx. And you have violated the 3rr rule again, undo your last edit please. KarenAER 05:11, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Karen, I did not revert. I added some fact tags, left the maps in, and deleted the images sizing. You have broken the 3RR, and I am not following you. You were not on that article when I was editing. Sheesh. If you think you can change European people to white people you can't do that, because the white people article is locked down. - Jeeny Talk 05:22, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Consider undoing one of them, or at least the "native" part. It looks like an oversight on your part but I think you should do it. The Behnam 06:57, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I undid the native part. Is that enough? <sigh> - Jeeny Talk 07:03, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Do the rest too just to be on the safe side. The 400px & tags may be counted for 3RR too. It may require complex editing rather than simple uses of "undo" in order to accomplish. The Behnam 07:09, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Well there are the 'fact' tags to consider, but I'm not sure how much of that you can undo or if it is even a problem. I suppose if you can undo it you may as well, even though it doesn't make much sense since they were legitimate tags (as the information was unsourced). Anyway I've got to go to sleep, so goodnight! The Behnam 07:27, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I am an awful typist/speller - what would I do without you? And thanks for the valuable substantive points you nave been making as well! Slrubenstein | Talk 04:24, 22 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

LOL. You're welcome. And thank you! Ramdrake scolded me once for changing other's (his) postings (spelling). But, he's calmed down now, and actually corrects my spelling. It's a bad habit of mine. A boss I once worked for was a brilliant writer/director/producer who could not spell for crap. He always asked me how to spell such and such a word (very simple words too), even though he was much smarter than I. I also had to proof-read his scripts. Intelligence does not mean one can spell or type well. :p - Jeeny Talk 04:41, 22 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I am glad you don't think less of me, but I recognize that sloppiness is not a virtue (for what it is worth, my office is more of a mess than my writing!!) - I sometimes find my own typos and correct them ... the fact is, I know it is not very collegial, it must make it a pain in the ass to read my comments. I'll try to be more careful! But I don't think I ever got upset for someone correcting my mistakes (otherwise i would spend too much of my life upset)! Mulatto[edit]

Hi Jenny!

I welcome your comprimise solution. But i just wonder what meant mulatto with questionmark on your edit summary? hope to hear u soon! Luka Jačov 13:45, 22 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Luka. The question mark was a typo, I meant to use > and explain more, but decided to keep it short. The reason I changed it is because she is American, and the term mulatto is not in common use for mixed race in America. Her father was American, in fact, he wasn't half. I believe he was a 1/4. So I may just change it to say "part". I know mulatto is used in other parts of the world and I have no objection to its use where it is commonly used. That's all. - Jeeny Talk 13:55, 22 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Jenny! I agree with changes on afforementioned article. However I am still not convinced mulatto is inapropriate term. First its word english dictionary describes as people of 50/50 black-white ancestry (and this is english language encylopedia, right?) and second google search gives 851,000 pages with word "mulatto" and little bit more for "mulato" which proves its used in both english speaking and hispano-luzo speaking countries. Anyway what I wanted to ask u, is what term would u use for person of white/black ancestry? Regards! Luka Jačov 22:03, 23 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, Luka, first my name is not Jenny, it's Jeeny (Jeannie). As for your Q, I would used the term mixed-race or biracial. Cheers. - Jeeny Talk 22:17, 23 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

HELP[edit]

Hi Jeeny-

How do you deal with people who are crazy, and don't listen to you? I think that this is over with now, but I've been arguing with this Comedy240 about the Americas Player stuff (You know, TBA or Completed). Now, you know it has come to agreement before that it would stay TBA until verified by CBS, but this guy just wouldn't let up. Now that there is finally a CBS web page that confirms all this, I get a message from him that says "Ouch better luck next time [4], looks like you owe a bunch of people apologies on the talk page of BB8. Comedy240 06:22, 22 August 2007 (UTC)". So all I did was say "I don't owe anybody an apology. This was decided by many people and I am glad it has finally been confirmed by the most reliable source. This is a good thing. - Rjd0060 15:19, 22 August 2007 (UTC)". Arghhhhh. - Rjd0060 15:51, 22 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

LOL, I'm laughing because I understand. Well, you try very hard to ignore/avoid them, not call them names, and don't do more than 3RRs. I've been blocked for for both. :/ I'll take a look at the page in a few. :) Stay cool. easier said then done, but it's good advice - Jeeny Talk 16:00, 22 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Easier said than done..That's for sure! I try not to stoop down to that level, and I think I'm doing good. Thanks for the note. Thanks for coming back too! - Rjd0060 16:34, 22 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

America's Player[edit]

  • Actually, my last edit (after I was asked not to list those tasks as complete) was to source various fan sites and Eric's own comments saying many believe Eric has completed the tasks, but CBS had not officially said anything, yet leave it TBD, but that was reverted for reasons I can not even guess. See http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Big_Brother_8_%28US%29&diff=152585813&oldid=152584112. I obeyd WP:RS by leaving it TBD, but was the only one who tried to provide multiple opinions of various people instead of just those few narrow minded wikipedians. I am not mad at you or Zackinthebox at all, but am upset at Rjd0060 for claiming I was in a revert war (which when he actually looked at my edits he found he was wrong). Also he refused to let others write prose and cite un-official sources to show the general opinion of the fan community, yet he is right that the tasks should have been left as TBD which I respected. I just wish new members would not elect themselves as leaders of what deserves to be mentioned to provide a balanced article. Comedy240 16:55, 22 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
No one is a leader/owner of an article. Everyone has a right to edit articles of their choosing, as long as Wikipedia guidelines are respected. Some people do become protective, but should allow others to edit too, and work together. We all have to assume good faith until proven otherwise. Fan sites are not good sources for Wikipedia, or else the article would become like another fan site. Also other thing is WP:OR, even though others outside Wikipedia have opinions, they must come from a reliable source too. Even Eric was actually wrong, it turns out, when he said to the camera he had $30,000. So we cannot take his word for it neither. CBS now has the tasks outlined which is GREAT! Now we have a reliable source for those tasks. Cheers! :) - Jeeny Talk 17:06, 22 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Comment[edit]

Just throwing in a comment on the whole "pictures in the negroid article" thing. It really does seem redundant, and not necessary to repeat that it's outdated, as it says it in... the first paragraph of the article, I think? Just really seems to me like it's not worth all the fuss that you folks are making over it. Lychosis T/C 07:46, 23 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You're right. I left it alone. You may not be aware of the history of this situation, though. Thanks for the comment. :) - Jeeny Talk 07:52, 23 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Who do you think Jessica will nominate. Seth71 01:02, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have no idea. But, if she's smart, she should find a way to boot Daniele. Maybe do a backdoor. Even though she has a deal to the final four. I'm thinking game here, not on who I like or not. If I were in her place I would definitely try to break up Dick/Daniele, with Daniele going home. She's a tough competitor. - Jeeny Talk 01:07, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, but america will probely chose Amber for Eric to get nominated and Jessica will probely nominate her. Seth71 01:09, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Or maybe Zach. He's been kinda floating around. They have to be very clever here. I hope they have it in 'em. Who do you want Eric to convince Jess to nominate? - Jeeny Talk 01:14, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Zach, just voted for him for the america's player thing. I think Eric mentioned her earlier in the week that he should be this weeks target. Seth71 01:15, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"Beware" post[edit]

I've removed that whole issue from the talk page of that article - it was getting out of hand. While I agree that the possibility of WP:POINT violation is worth discussion, posting like that isn't the best place or way to address the issue. In fact, it is a minor sin on my part for adding my bit to it. Anyway, it isn't on the page anymore, but if it needs further discussion we should keep it on our user talk pages. Thanks. The Behnam 06:09, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Fouree.just went through his contribs and it seems to be a common tactic from him. Just noticed his editwar to push a racist image from 1914 into an article wich led to page-protection. Someone who is familiar with this editor should take it up to higher power in my opinion to prevent him of further trolling and tendencious editing. If I would have taken a closer look through his contribs earlier I wouldn't even had discussed but ignored him. Thanks for your contribution on talk page even it is deleted now. European people[edit]

Hi Jeeny. I really don't like this idea of having galleries on article pages. For example there are thousands of European ethnic groups, we can't possibly have pictures of people from all of them. Besides no individual can be "representative" of an ethnic group. The Ogre seems not to be too enamoured of them either. I'm also disturbed by the attitude that European people who are Black or Asian should not be represented. I wondered what your opinion was. All the best. Alun 04:56, 25 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I 100% agree. I do find it intersting that native Black Africans have the most diverse DNA, while Europeans and white people have the most variation in hair, eye and skin tone. Yet, I believe this article is a ruse, to replace the White people article. It's very disturbing, because it is not objective, encyclopedic, nor scholarly, etc. Having such a broad term as "European people" and as the article now stands is embarrassing, because it is a narrow POV. I believe it was created to promote a white race bias. Call me a cynic. There are many avenues to push this agenda already, OUTSIDE of Wikipedia. It does not belong in an encyclopedia, IMO. Not the way it appears its creators think it should be and which people are the "true Europeans" -- whomever they may be. It's like Stormfront revisited. - Jeeny Talk 05:19, 25 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I couldn't agree more. Alun 10:52, 25 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Target[edit]

Who's this weeks target on BB8 Amber or Zack. Last week they were mentioning Zack as being this weeks target. Seth71 18:42, 25 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Zach, I think. - Jeeny Talk 21:16, 25 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Even though eric is POV I still think it will be Zack only if Amber didn't when a lot on Power of 10 if she even beat Danielle. If they reveal Danielle won a lot before the veto happens Eric might use it to get her out maybe. Who do you want to see gone Zack or Amber. Seth71 21:47, 25 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Amber. - Jeeny Talk 22:28, 25 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No, but on her page on here says it is. The RIAA doesn't confirm it. To go gold you have to ship half a million to stores and the person was confused by the world wide shipments of over 600,000. Seth71 05:05, 26 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I find it very difficult to believe she has sold that many. And if that info is in the article and not reliably sourced it should be deleted. - Jeeny Talk 05:11, 26 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Who do you think[edit]

Who do you think is gonna be evicted Zack or Amber. Seth71 23:02, 28 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Um Zach? Who do you think? - Jeeny Talk 23:07, 28 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Zack too, I think that Dick and Danielle will still want to keep amber because of her promise to them, and zack is sort of a loose cannon, if he were to win HOH they wouldn't know who he would nominate.Seth71 23:19, 28 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes! Very good logic. He's more of a wild card than a loose cannon IMO, though. I think it would be a smart strategy for the others to evict him. How are you holding up? - Jeeny Talk 23:27, 28 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Good, movin' today won't be on here for about a week or two, if amber is evicted though i will be so dissapointed, just like when Janelle was evicted on BB6 and BBAS. Seth71 23:30, 28 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

LOL, I know. It's OK, I'm not. Anyway it's good to hear you're doing well. Moving is stressful, at least it is for me. If it were easy, I would NOT be living where I am now. Also, I loved Janelle!!! I don't have the same feeling toward Amber though. In fact, I have no favs this year. Oh well. Hope the show is good tonight! - Jeeny Talk 23:43, 28 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I also wanna see power of 10 to see how Dani and Amber do on the show. Who do you think will win.Seth71 23:46, 28 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, that's right. I wan't to see that too. When is that on, at 8pm? Goodie. I do not think Amber won, because of the way she talked about needing clothes. But, I could be wrong. If it's on at eight then that's just a few minutes away! :) - Jeeny Talk 23:55, 28 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ancestry[edit]

Hi Jeeny. I often listen to NPR podcasts. There was one recently from the Kojo Nnamdi show called "Searching the Family Tree". It was very interesting, they talked a lot about African American and Native American ancestry amongst White Americans. There was an interview with a woman who has recently written a book about her ancestry. She grew up "White" and had no conception that there was Natve and African American ancestry in her family. I can't remember her name though, but the podcast may still be available for download. If you have iTunes it's available for free, you can subscribe via the NPR podcast directory here, it's under WAMU and Kojo Nnamdi Show. Thought you'd be interested. All the best. Alun 05:22, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, but I'm technically challenged, and don't know how to access it. I do not have iTunes or any such device, but my computer. It's been a long time since I've listened to NPR. I loved it. I don't know why I stopped, well I do, it was part of my routine, which has changed substantually. I only listen to radio while driving, and that's not often anymore as I only drive short distances now. - Jeeny Talk 05:38, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You can download iTunes from here if you have a Windows PC. If you have a Mac you can get it from here I don't think there is a version for Linux. Once you have installed iTunes (which should be very easy) you can just click on the tab that says iTunes in the link I posted to the Kojo Nnamdi show above. This should automatically subscribe you. You should get a list of previous shows, so you need to "GET" the show called "Searching the Family Tree". If you have problems I'll try and find out the name of the book they discuss on the show for you. Cheers. Alun 05:48, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

new policy[edit]

any thoughts about this? Slrubenstein | Talk 22:59, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, pfft! ......... I was blocked for 48 hours for calling him racist and ugly and he was left to spew is views. Even Jimbo wrote "ugh" when he blocked him. I believe his block was just. He was more disruptive than construction IMO. So, I'll leave this to more impartial editors, in this case I can't be, which would be unjust because of my prejudice. Thanks though. - Jeeny Talk 23:16, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ah you shouldnt have called him ugly! I understand your frustration but physical appearance really isnt releavnt to very much. He wont be spewing his virulence any longer, and thank goodness for that, his attack today on black female murder victims was one of the worst I have had the misfortune to see on wikipedia and his response was worse. Regards, SqueakBox 23:25, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Squeak, it wasn't his physical appearance, but his attitude, comments and views that I concidered ugly. Which was kind, since I meant "evil". lol. - Jeeny Talk 23:28, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

lol I know, but can't it be proposed someplace else? Anyway, I just refered to the most scholary book, the dictionary, on the word "ugly"

Of cource the first entry is physical appearance, which I left out:

  • ug·ly
2.
a. Repulsive or offensive; objectionable: an ugly remark.
b. Chiefly Southern U.S. Rude: Don't be ugly with me.
3. Morally reprehensible; bad.
4. Threatening or ominous: ugly black clouds.
5.
a. Likely to cause embarrassment or trouble: "Public opinion in both nations could take an ugly turn" George R. Packard.
b. Marked by or inclined to anger or bad feelings; disagreeable: an ugly temper; an ugly scene.

helping hand[edit]

Hi, Jeeny. Just wanted to offer any assistance I'm able to for any projects your working on. Me and Taharqa collab quite a bit on stuff and i'd like to lend a hand to anything u might be working on as well. I'm sure you've heard of or seen JSTOR. Basically scholarly journals online relating to virtually any topic u can imagine. I use them quite a bit for my sources and have hooked Taharqa up with some great articles on subjects he's working on (namely songhai and ghana empires). The only thing that sucks about JSTOR is that you gotta have access to a university to get entire articles. You may already have access, and if so u already know how great JSTOR articles are. If you don't have access, I make a trip to my university every weekend download the articles in PDF form that i need (i'm currenly working on central african stuff, mainly Kingdom of Kongo). Me and T really appreciate ur work on here (especially the anti-vandalism and anti-bias work). So as a token of my appreciation I wanted to offer to share some articles with u. Just let me know what your email is and what subjects ur looking for. I'll download whatever i can find and email the PDFs to u. They are really great sources. holla back when u can and keep up the good work...Scott Free 21:52, 27 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yep, offer is an open one so hit me up whenever. just let me know on my page what subject u need. my email is scottfree001@gmail.com take care :) Scott Free 22:38, 27 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Jeeny. Why haven't you added your name to the member's list on Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa? You contribute more than most of them on that list!Taharqa 23:30, 28 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

T, I belong to the Wikipedia:WikiProject African Diaspora I think that covers a bunch, don't you? :) I'm working on discrimination and blantant racism at this time. But, as you well know, it's pretty difficult to concentrate on bettering Wikipedia, when one is constantly baited and stalked. - Jeeny Talk 23:38, 28 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, ok, I wasn't aware of that, no wonder. I believe that you invited me to join a long time ago, but I forget and am just now remembering, as before hand I didn't know that project existed. Very noble of you, like 4shizzle says in so many words.. Oh, and yes, I know exactly what you mean about the baiting and stalking. I noticed that trend with the user Karen, who has even resorted to attacking and baiting anyone who agrees with you. Pretty sad to say the least, but hopefully she'll learn how to behave sometime in the near future. Not assuming bad faith, but of course this is based on what has been observed. In any event, I'm glad that you're able to keep a level head in the face of such nonsense. Keep it up! Hotep..Taharqa 06:58, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Jeeny :) Yeah I got the email. I will shoot u the PDFs after work. i'm going by the university today. gonna do some major work on the Kingdom of Kongo. Don't worry, your email is in good hands. i'll also make sure to find the article linked to on my talk page. look for my email in about 2 hours. Scott Free 20:16, 30 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Comments requested[edit]

It looks like we're finally managing to put all the POV pushing, extremist right-wing view and so forth behind us on White People. I've arbitarily drawn a line under all the stupid Neo-Marxist talk and asked for a straight vote/comment on the future of the article. Please can you join in with your opinion on what you feel the article's future should be. Concensus has already determined that it will be a disambig page but the debate is over whether it should be a short or long disambig. I know you've been involved in the article and I suspect you got quite jaded by all the tripe in the talk page but the only way this will be settled will be if folks such as yourself return to comment. Thanks Jeeny, take care.AlanD 09:15, 1 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"White pride" and the US[edit]

Hi there Jeeny. I think you'll note in the text that we never suggest that the "white pride movement" exists "only in the United States"; on the contrary, the text reflects its international pervasiveness: "primarily in the United States (though its usage has spread internationally)" I think you'll find that this particular breed of racism (reactionary, "pro-white" movements loath to actually conceive of themselves as racist/"racialist" or even necessarily nationalist but, rather, as a so-called necessary counterbalance to civil rights movements) are a particularly American phenomenon. See Occidental Quarterly, a pseudo-academic journal, which is an example of this. And all the major white pride demagogues are Americans. - Maggie --67.71.121.253 15:14, 1 September 2007 (UTC) [reply]

Actually, no...[edit]

The "bad faith accusations" comment was actually directed at Muntuwandi, I hadn't noticed your comment after his. I apologize if you had taken it another way. :3 Lychosis T/C 21:43, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, OK. I thought it was far out there. You have to know the history of those involved. Tensions do get high, making it pretty stressful at times. Cheers! - Jeeny Talk 21:45, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

From what I saw Babblefish wasn't the source of the translation - someone who spoke German was. But regardless, frankly there's a debate going on, people are going to agree or disagree, and to say everyone who disagrees with you is "not helping" is rather selfish. A straw poll was taken - 4 people including myself supported that image, one person supported the current image, and one person supported no image - and a debate followed. There's nothing else to discuss.-danielfolsom 23:35, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This is true, Babelfish was just used later on in lieu of someone else who spoke German. And, what it translated was fairly close to what we were originally told. :3 Lychosis T/C 23:43, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I was moving it to the talk page, because there was no discussion about adding it. The article is in dispute. Please see the talk page of the article where there are objections to it's inclusion, at least the way it was in the article. I thought I had removed that section and provided the edit summary "moved section to talk page for discussion". NOP[edit]

"wikipedia is not about truth but verifiability"

I don't know how long have you been lived in Poland but I think that I know better than you about NOP... NOP isn't "marginal,Far right organisation" - See Polish Wikipedia if you can read in Polish.

In Polish Wikipedia :

"Narodowe Odrodzenie Polski (NOP) – polska nacjonalistyczna partia polityczna o charakterze katolickim." -

So it will be...

"NOP (NOP) - Polish nationalist politic party, catholic in character."

More (Polish Wikipedia) :

Ideologia polityczna/Poglądy gospodarcze - nacjonalizm (Nationalism), narodowy radykalizm ("national radical"), terceryzm (Third Position), Narodowy katolicyzm ("national catholicism"), korporacjonizm (Corporatism).

In English Wikipedia :

"Narodowe Odrodzenie Polski (National Revival of Poland) is a Far Right, nationalist, marginal political party in Poland..."

More :

Official ideology/political position - Nationalism, Corporatism (nothing more !)...

So this is not same like in Polish Wikipedia, right ?! In Polish Wikipedia you don't have "marginal political party and far right" things...I think we can work together and make it to be correct.

Sry for any language mistakes...I think you will understand me.

Greetings. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Krzyzowiec (talkcontribs) 04:08, 8 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, but this is the English Wikipedia, where there are definitions of far right and far left examples of politics, perhaps in Polish there is no equivalent to distinguish the differences? - Jeeny Talk 04:21, 8 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No, we have "far right" and "far left" things but NOP isn't "far right organisation" (like nazi or faschistic one's, NOP is antisocialistic so anti nazi) and it is not a "marginal" one...

Mission Hill edits[edit]

Jeeny,

I noticed after I had added some info to the history section of the Mission Hill article that you had made some substaintial edits. I changed it back (which, after thinking about it, may not be very polite), but only with the goal of understanding why your edits were made. Let me explain. I made the edits to the History section to put it into a sort of timeline and not jump all over the place. Then I added some new information about streets I've uncovered in my research. Can you explain why you removed these additions/edits? Thanks!

Okay, saw your message on the IP page. Am adding anything citable (sp?) now. However, what about the rearranging? Is that okay? It made much better sense to me. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Snathaniel (talkcontribs) 04:23, 12 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

LGBT[edit]

Hi, I simply reverted your removal of the LGBT tag at Pederasty, as we get hit all the time with all kinds of random attacks, but then I noticed that you edited likewise at Pederasty in the Renaissance. The manifestations discussed in those articles largely involve adolescent youths and young men. If they were crimes at the time it is because all same-sex relations were, and people who did engage in these relations construed them as the desire of an older male for an adolescent. It has nothing to do with the criminal behavior of today in which adults make sexual use of children, often violently. And as you will see, the people involved in these relationships are the very same who are being claimed as the forefathers of the lgbt movement (such as Leonardo, Michelangelo, etc). I will post this at Talk:Pederasty in the Renaissance, kindly answer there. Haiduc 02:18, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I understand, but to add that banner to include adults having sex with children as OK is not a good message to send. The LGBT community has it tough as it is. This makes others think of the whole lot as a perversion. Which it is not. But the line should be drawn with adults having sex with children is OK. History, yes. But don't add the project to include NAMBLA, pederasty or pedophilia. It sends the LGBT community back in time to when it was a "sin" and crime. Adults having sex with children is a crime. - Jeeny Talk 02:35, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Treating it based upon "criminality" is not only muddled by the location under discussion, but also by time. Consider - if we are to remove the tag based upon the criminality of the act/way under discussion, then we will have to remove it from many articles, as many LGBT 'ways' are illegal in some countries - to quote you on pedophilia/pederasty, they consider the whole lot "perversion." As for time, I believe Haiduc's explanation to be sufficient. One crime yesterday, not today. Another crime today, perhaps not tomorrow.
Hence, we shouldn't treat the tagging based upon our personal POVs of "perversion" or non-worldwide (and POV) notions of "criminality," but rather the tag should be applied based upon the nature of the act. Pederasty is a same-sex sexual relationship, and so it is part of LGBT.
On a more speculative note (meaning I don't feel like digging up discussion about it from the internet), it may also be a goal of some parts of the LGBT community to legalize pederasty, arguing that 'consent makes it OK'. Perhaps their case will include something like, "It has nothing to do with the criminal behavior of today in which adults make sexual use of children, often violently," to use a fitting example readily available to me on this page. Let them fly their flag at their front until they are defeated. The Behnam 03:31, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I guess it's that "I don't like it". Anything to do with messing with adolescences, especially children by adults-- whether male, female, homosexual, heterosexual-- is wrong in my book. I don't like the fact that they are using the homosexuality of two consenting adults, both of age of consent to be the same as an adult having sex with a child. Such as NAMBLA is trying to do. Will men who have sex with pre-pubescent girls be next? Will that be accepted one day too? Where does one draw the line? Ahh. Well, I draw the line at children. Two adults can do as they please. Do not mess with children in adult ways. :/ Children experimenting with one another is different and normal. Also a statement made by the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) "adopted a "Position Statement Regarding NAMBLA" saying GLAAD "deplores the North American Man Boy Love Association's (NAMBLA) goals, which include advocacy for sex between adult men and boys and the removal of legal protections for children. These goals constitute a form of child abuse and are repugnant to GLAAD." Also in 1994 the Board of Directors of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force (NGLTF) adopted a resolution on NAMBLA that said: "NGLTF condemns all abuse of minors, both sexual and any other kind, perpetrated by adults. Accordingly, NGLTF condemns the organizational goals of NAMBLA and any other such organization." BTW, Hi Behnam. :) - Jeeny Talk 03:47, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Jeeny! I completely agree with you about drawing the line, personally. As far as the banner, I think that the fact that you've found an example of discussion relating pederasty to the modern LGBT movement is itself a point in support for keeping the LGBT tag, as within their own community they are debating the legitimacy of pederasty. Hah, the debate sort of reminds of theology, which is strange, though they lack an equivalent to the Bible (might make moral judgments more difficult/arbitrary). So, to set out some rough criteria for the tagging, we have (1)relation between LGBT movement and the 'act' as seen from reliable sources, and (2)the nature of the 'act' as related to LGBT itself (related to L,G,B, or T by RS).
Anyway, if someone else hasn't already done it, you may need to go back to some articles and reconsider your removal of the banner. Regards, The Behnam 04:20, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Let them put it back, I'm not. Pfft. I agree with your theology analogy, and hate that if it looks as I'm participating in that way. I commented on the Project page. We'll see. I personally know gay people who deplore this. I know that's not RS. I've been fighting enough, now to get in on this subject may be going a little too far. HAH! lol. :) Children and animals cannot give consent, even if they happen to like it, dammit! LOL. - Jeeny Talk 04:34, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ah yes, "Pfft." Another lasting treasure given to us by those white nationalists, right? Also, I wasn't referring to you with the "theology" but rather to the debate within the LGBT itself - it seems like they are attempting to formulate "orthodox" LGBT-ism and refute heretical doctrines :-p. BTW I've sent you an email as well. Cheers, The Behnam 04:41, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
LOL, yes about the Pfft. It's so funny. I did get your email, and there was a bunch I wanted to say and got sidetracked. You helped prove to me that older is not always wiser. ;) I'll answer tomorrow, as it's bedtime for me. You take care. :) - Jeeny Talk 04:57, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I am glad that tempers have simmered down. And I do want to point out a common fallacy in the comments above: pederasty IS legal in most countries, but it is regulated in that teenagers are subject to an age of consent, and they are protected from having people in authority over them exercise that power to sexual advantage. But other than that, a sixteen year old in many American states and European countries can enter into a relationship with a man in his twenties or thirties, say, and it is perfectly legal. Whether it is also ethical I think depends on the individual situation. There was once an editor here, a teenager, who related to me he was in such a relationship, legal in all respects, and was being pressed by his adult lover to consent to anal sex. He refused, and found out later that his "lover" was HIV poz. Anyway, I think I am overstepping the bounds of what we are supposed to be doing here. Regards, Haiduc 13:17, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Jeeny, your reply above seems to indicate that you are editing Wikipedia based on politics and ideology, rather than on a basis of facts. Surely you can see the inherent danger to the project of editing in that way. It is a matter of complete indifference to me what people think if they see the LGBT tag on any number of articles. Having the tag on an article does not mean that the LGBT community at large, or even the LGBT community on Wikipedia endorses the content or ideas espoused in an article. It simply means that the article--for whatever the reason--falls within the scope of our project. I note that you are not a member of our project, so would ask that you not remove our tags without first seeing if we are agreeable to that action. Cheers, Jeffpw 06:43, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Of interest to you[edit]

I've warned Jeffpw [19] for his attacks upon you [20][21]. He promptly removed the warning as "trash" [22], which IMO does not show good faith.

Hopefully the message got across anyway (despite the attitude), and we won't see any further conduct violations from this user. Just giving you a heads up. Regards, The Behnam 14:37, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Behnam, I am under no obligation here to either assume good faith or show it. As an experienced user, I would think you would know that AGF is not a core policy, but merely a guideline (and one which I consider asinine).

Further, I quite clearly stated that I found Jeeny´s edits in removing so many project tags to be borderline vandalism. I know of no policy which requires me to bend over backwards to someone I think is violating policies regarding either vandalism or WP:Point. It seems to me that a bit more clear headed thinking and a bit less knee jerk reacting on both your parts is what is called for. Have a nice day and happy editing! Jeffpw 14:43, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've been blocked before for comments considered personal attacks so it is policy, part of AGF. I was reported by a self proclaimed racist, for ironically and correctly calling him a racist. Anyway, you are correct, it may have been a "knee jerk" reaction but I call it being bold. It was not my attempt at vandalism at all, nor was it in bad faith. In fact, I don't agree with the NPA policy because there are nincompoops, idiots, and bigots in this community. I don't mind being called names, for which I know are not true, especially. lol. All's well on my end. Also just because I don't belong to a project does not mean I'm not allowed to edit pages belonging to a so-called project. But, I will stop removing the project tags. nincompoop 18:34, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your comments, Jeeny. I realize now I over-reacted in my comments. It's just that we have had many people (obvious vandals) either add tags (to Pedophile, for instance) or remove them out of malice. I'm also under a great deal of stress at the moment, with my partner in the hospital fighting AIDS related lymphoma. This has obviously had a detrimental impact on my editing style. I don't offer that as an excuse, but rather as an explanation for my out of character behavior towards you. Please accept my apology. Jeffpw 06:42, 14 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You're welcome, and I'm very sorry for what you are going through with your partner. :( I'm sorry, and will send good vibes your and his way. I understand how it can affect one's behavior/comments and do very much relate. I understand about the vandals also. I accept your apology, and I offer one to you. I'm sorry for my knee jerk reactions. Please take care of yourself and your partner. Best wishes. - Jeeny Talk 06:55, 14 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Quick question[edit]

Hi Jeeny,

I don't consider myself to be so much of a newbie to Wikipedia, but on the same token there are quite a few areas I am fairly unfamilar with in this strange, fresh territory. I did notice that you seem like an intelligent person that doesn't take life too seriously, so I was hoping you might be able to offer your assistance. I'm currently debating with someone whom I feel is only continuing to do so just for the sake of the fight; it's my intent to end this quickly and move on. Would you be able to direct me to a good moderator who is likely capable of observing both sides and thus bringing the debate to a quick resolution? Please let me know, if you have the time.

Thanks. --ArmsHeldOut 23:29, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, aww, thank you for the compliments, but....ummm...I have the same problem and have yet to figure out a way. Perhaps WP:RfC? I do sympathize with you. I find it ironic, not about you, but that you come to me for advice about such things, as I am considered emotional and not very good at suppressing my feelings about certain issues, and editors. :( Or, maybe you should ask User:The Behnam, as he is very knowledgable re: policy and is good at remaining cool when the situation gets heated. He's helped me many times. Good luck! :) - Jeeny Talk 01:24, 14 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the advice. Nothing wrong with conveying a little emotion once in a while I think. It shows that you actually care how any particular subject matter you edit is perceived, which is admirable, to me at least. I can't say that I've gone through dozens of user profiles, but a good few of the ones I've come across so far don't paint such nice people portraits. Personally, I don't think there is a need for arrogance, name calling (gotta love the nerdy terminology people come up with these days), indifference or denial (when it's clear you're dead wrong). You seem to lack all of the above characteristics, are competent in what you try to do and seem to maintain a good sense of humor. Coming to you for help was a no-brainer really. Does that make any sense? BTW, I'll look into the reference you made pertaining to RfC. Thanks again. --ArmsHeldOut 03:58, 14 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Awww, you are welcome. I'm sorry I couldn't help you more. I so hope you find what you need to help your situation. Thank you again for your compliments, you make me blush. ;} I'm glad you appreciate humor, I think it is helpful, but some don't like it, as if this is a corporation where one gets paid and you have to dress up. This is my hobby, where I wear T-shirts and jeans, and hobbies should be fun! LOL. :) Although, even hobbies can be frustrating at times. I already have paid employment (with many rules as I work for the state, yikes.) in that I have to keep up appearances, and convey a certain demeaner of professionalism. I've also finished schooling. :) But that doesn't mean that I know everything, of course. I meant that I'm not in school and shouldn't have to report to the principal or dean. Learning is for life. I enjoy it!- Jeeny Talk 04:19, 14 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think even in a large corporation, you have to relax and find the humor in things. Never forget the time I came into work wearing a pair of shorts one summer in 2002. My direct manager didn't know what to make of me. He thought I was gonna go postal or something like [a character] Michael Douglas [portayed] in .. some film I can't recall at this very moment (sorry). =) And don't get me started on the wonderful "merits" of outsourcing. Such a nice feeling when you're dealing with people in the workplace from overseas who have absolutely no clue whatsoever as to what the heck you're talking about or anything about the whole infrastructure of your company in general. Seriously, you've gotta laugh at the "good times". lol Makes the day go by that much quicker. On a side note, I hate to break this to you, but ... your old principal .. actually runs Wikipedia from the inside out. In January, all registered users have to report to him on a weekly basis for assignment and evaluation. Just a heads up. lol --ArmsHeldOut 06:21, 14 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

LOL, I work for a small corporation, but it is overseen by the state. We laugh all the time, we have to, to stay sane. And I sometimes am able to work my humor with the clients. Most appreciate it. :) I know the film your speaking of with Micheal Douglas, I think it's called Falling Down. Right? Anyway, I laugh every day, mostly at myself. :) LOL. Hey, whachu takin' bout, Willis? Where is this information that we have to report in January? Whaaa! Say it's not true. - Jeeny Talk 06:33, 14 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If I say it's not true you won't hear me anyhow. =)~ Don't feel bad. I'm sure your old principal wasn't as bad as the one I had to contend with as a youngin. Picture a very stern Nun draped in dark navy blue with no hair, which she concealed by wearing a horrible tighly curled, greyish-blonde wig. Pretty isn't it? So sexy. And yeah .. that was it! Good find. I'll see if I can have your routine visits with the principal reduced to once every other week. --ArmsHeldOut 06:57, 14 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

LOL, thanks. But can you reduce it to once a year? - Jeeny Talk 08:51, 14 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair enough. Congrats on your award. =)

I live in Pittsburgh. I am old (60+). I have used other user names. I have made at least 5,000 entries in Wikipedia. I am never "angry" anymore, because old people do not become angry. I infuriated someone by placing an image of Adolf Hitler on THE talk page of Velocicaptor. Someone placed a permanent block on poor old Velocicaptor so I became EmperorVelocicaptor. Thank goodness that I was able to continue as EmperorVelocicaptor. I had created Portec Rail Products, Inc. and was taking photographs associated with that article. I first tuned in to Wikipedia in 2004. One of my earliest transmissions to Wikipedia was on the article Gag rule. Also One-drop rule. I avoid the political articles because editors change them enormously. When I placed the word mulatto into African American, I thought that it might evoke a response from someone. I am a Navy veteran who served aboard the USS Hissem (DE-400) and the USS Forrestal (CV-59) between 1959 and 1966. EmperorVelocicaptor 10:10, 14 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
