KJ Felicitas (talk) 04:48, 1 March 2013 (UTC)Hi Jeff G., I am currently studying at Polytechnic University of the Philippines Santa Maria and it bothers me a lot to see that the information of my school here in Wikipedia is not yet updated that's why i tried to update it. Sorry if I didn't put a reliable source.

Thanks for the explanation.   — Jeff G. ツ (talk) 05:51, 1 March 2013 (UTC)

Hello. I deleted that because I'm trying to figure out how to remove the original upload, which was uploaded incorrectly. I've not uploaded much to Wikipedia before so that's why it is somewhat messy. If you can inform me how to remove the logo and photo completely I will re-upload the loto with proper formatting etc. Thanks! Nicolas (talk) 05:46, 1 March 2013 (UTC)

You could reupload again (delete the g7 tag to then keep it) or wait for an admin to come along and delete it.   — Jeff G. ツ (talk) 05:49, 1 March 2013 (UTC)

Hey Jeff

After speaking to Dougs family I have been given permission to include them on the page. Please let me know the proper citations I need to take are. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Joelfan21 (talkcontribs) 19:51, 2 March 2013 (UTC)

Do you have any verifiable references from reliable sources to back up the names of the relatives who survived Doug Stegmeyer (or to back up anything else that isn't in the sole reference)? Some of the ones at Billy Joel Band might help.   — Jeff G. ツ (talk) 00:05, 3 March 2013 (UTC)

References

I have no idea how add references. It's not easy to figure out and there are no examples to follow. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sistertwisted (talkcontribs) 22:50, 3 March 2013 (UTC)

Cung Le's Wikipedia

I just wanted to bring to your attention that the User with the IP Address: 187.113.197.150 has also been vandalizing another wikipedia page, which is for mix martial arts fighter Cung Le. I have provided numerous sources that he in fact currently an American. However, that user has continued to revert and change the wording to strictly show that Cung Le is only Vietnamese, which is inaccurate. I have reported this issue to other editors, but I wanted to also let you know as well since I've seen you have done so previously.

This is the page in question and if you look at the history, the user has constantly vandalized the Wikipedia page. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cung_Le

Thank you for your time PinoyFilAmPride (talk) 01:24, 6 March 2013 (UTC)

Thank you for bringing this to my attention. The vast majority of the contributions from this IP Address have either removed content without explanation or added content without verifiable reliable sources. The rest have been marginal. If this pattern continues soon, this IP Address will surely be blocked after a report to WP:AIV.   — Jeff G. ツ (talk) 03:00, 6 March 2013 (UTC)

Is your tampering of the information I provided in the Balafon article motivated by malice or hubris?

It seems highly suspicious of you to delete information from an African tradition that is hardly referenced by Westerners. I thought Wikipedia was supposed to be a place where world knowledge is accumulated, not a place where Euro-centric articles are left untouched, while those detailing traditions and cultures outside of that cultural sphere are heavily messed around with or deleted via what seems pure indifference. If the article demands a reference; leave a public note detailing what needs to be provided in the article and a user can find that information if it is available. We see it in numerous other articles (something to the tune to "this section is unreferenced as of Month, Year"); do not delete it outright unless you believe it to be gross misinformation. There is no malice or desire for misinformation intended on part of someone detailing a tradition that little know about outside West Africa, let alone one that has sufficient books/articles/journals written or interest on the matter. What then is your motivation?

I'll leave the page be. The highly fragmented and over-generalised information in there should speak for itself to those of us who know what these things are; with or without a reference to a possibly highly skewed and biased article written by some old European ethno-musicologist in a tweed jacket. It is a shame that this is what Wikipedia has come to. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 175.132.214.78 (talk) 09:47, 6 March 2013 (UTC)

My motivation is to make the world a better place by giving good information to its readers through English Wikipedia and other projects so as to better educate those readers and people they may contact. Each of my edits here is designed to leave this project better for its readers than I found it, but I admit I am human and I have made mistakes. What is your motivation for editing this project? How do you know that the information you are adding is good and that the information you are removing is not good? Where did you find the information you are adding? What is your involvement with the YouTube videos to which you posted links and the music or musicians they depict or the posters of the videos, and why did you post those links? To use your words, how do you "know what these things are" and know so much about "a tradition that little know about outside West Africa" if you are posting from Japan? I would appreciate it if you would sign your posts, use Edit Summaries, and create an account; why haven't you? I was writing to you specifically about this edit, but my questions apply to all of your edits. If, as I suspect, you have an involvement with the music, musicians, or posters, you are more likely to be taken seriously if you reveal any conflict of interest. Also, I do not appreciate your accusatory tone.   — Jeff G. ツ (talk) 13:38, 6 March 2013 (UTC)

Your recent vandalism patrol at Sunnyvale, California

Hi, Jeff. Hey, I really have no idea what happened, but if you look at this diff, you left Ugliest Dog a warning about unreferenced content. It never got reverted. On a similar note, if you look under "single issue notices" on the Twinkle warning box, you will find the warning I used, which IMHO is a much better text for the situation at hand. No worries, my friend. Just wanting to give you a heads up. Happy editing! Gtwfan52 (talk) 02:47, 7 March 2013 (UTC)

Sorry, I missed the revert (now corrected). Huggle doesn't have the warning you used.   — Jeff G. ツ (talk) 03:01, 7 March 2013 (UTC)
The portion about being reverted in the warning was added in this edit, which I just noticed. I did not intend it. I replaced the warning with a substed User:Jeff G./Uw-unsourced1old (which matches my intent) in this new edit. I also added the warning you used to my huggle config at User:Jeff G./huggle.css. Thanks for the notification.   — Jeff G. ツ (talk) 04:37, 7 March 2013 (UTC)

MiszaBot --> MiszaBot III

Is this really necessary? Has something changed? MB III has been happily archiving my page for years. If it ain't broke, why fix it? More importantly, I assume you're positive that if you put MiszaBot III in there instead it will still archive? --Floquenbeam (talk) 00:50, 7 March 2013 (UTC)

In particular, the instructions at User:MiszaBot/Archive HowTo say to use "MiszaBot". Just checking to make sure you're positive this will still work. --Floquenbeam (talk) 00:53, 7 March 2013 (UTC)
Yes, I think it's necessary; please see #MiszaBot above for more info.   — Jeff G. ツ (talk) 00:59, 7 March 2013 (UTC)
Have you seen MiszaBot III archive a page that has a "bot=MiszaBot III" in it? --Floquenbeam (talk) 01:05, 7 March 2013 (UTC)
Wait, I think I see now. You're not changing anything at all to do with archiving, you're just changing the display in the archiving box. Is that right? --Floquenbeam (talk) 01:19, 7 March 2013 (UTC)
Yes, indeed. Sorry for any confusion.   — Jeff G. ツ (talk) 01:39, 7 March 2013 (UTC)

Southern Nights

You would see it's listed at Pop Rock at allmusic, if you'd bothered to check. Notice the other listing doesn't have a ref next to it either. I'm removing your pointless comment from my page, next time stop to think before you throw around your so called "last warning", bro. BigPimpinBrah (talk) 04:18, 9 March 2013 (UTC)

I don't see where Southern Nights (song) is listed "at Pop Rock" at allmusic (which says it went number one adult contemporary as well as pop and country). You would see you are advised to use Edit Summaries, if you'd bothered to check. Notice the other listing (Country) has been supported by consensus from the very first edit over five years ago. Thanks!   — Jeff G. ツ (talk) 04:55, 9 March 2013 (UTC)

Right there, my man. I'm sure you already know that how long something has been there is irrelevant, and there has no been no discussion therefore no consensus, but might as well point it out anyway. Please stop trolling, thanks :) - BigPimpinBrah (talk) 05:25, 9 March 2013 (UTC)

That's the album, not necessarily every song it contains.   — Jeff G. ツ (talk) 05:32, 9 March 2013 (UTC)

MiszaBot's been blocked since late 2011, but the template has continued to work because I believe the appropriate bot (I, II, III) scans for all of those headers/categories anyway. And because even a blocked bot can change the templates within their userspace, it shouldn't be a problem. I don't think your changing the templates is a problem either, but it seems unnecessary. Shadowjams (talk) 23:00, 1 March 2013 (UTC)

Hi, thanks for your comments. I'm not changing how the actual archiving works. In the interest of transparency I'm changing the templated notification to users about archiving in the Talk namespace only from (the assignment to MiszaBot (now false)) to (the assignment to MiszaBot I (true)). I am also stopping to clean up any messes I make. Frankly, I am surprised no one took the time to do this when MiszaBot was blocked indefinitely. I hope I haven't been going too fast; at the maximum six edits per minute rate I was able to make the changes half a day ago, I estimate it would take me almost four hours of solid work to finish the 1327 pages that are left. I could finish them as JeffGBot, but would that require another BRFA for AWB?   — Jeff G. ツ (talk) 02:40, 2 March 2013 (UTC)
I think if you're doing them with plain-old AWB everything's fine. If I had a recent database dump I'd help you with some of that, although I don't think I'll be able to for at least a day or two. If you wanted to put up a list of what's left in a subpage though that'd work too. I guess there's not much typo fixing to be done on talk pages, just basic template maintenance. I guess I was concerned that pointing to MiszaBot was preferable because if Misza wanted to swap around what bots did, it wouldn't change things, but thinking about it, I'm sure he/she can do that regardless, because I think it's a simple matter of looking at a category. It is odd nobody noticed back then; I certainly didn't. Anyway, as long as you spread out the edits, I don't think anyone will have a massive problem. If you wanted to plow through it you could probably get bot approval, but that's probably not worth the trouble. The most efficient would be for the MiszaBot to do it as it archived pages... perhaps you could ask him/her about that if you were inclined. Good luck! Shadowjams (talk) 03:24, 2 March 2013 (UTC)

Dr. Robert C. Ankony

Dear Jeff G,

Please do not delete the military history pages I created: Battle of Signal Hill Vietnam; Dong Re Lao Mountain; and Company E, 52nd Infantry (LRP) from WikipediA as they provide detailed knowledge of real battles, locations, and military units. Everything presented is my work, research and words. It is not copyrighted.

Thanks again,

No Citations on Bring Me The Horizon's album "Sempiternal"?

I don't understand why my change to the article was denied. Why do I need a citation/reference for correcting the post when all I did was change the info to say that the album "will be" released instead of what was originally posted, which was the album "was" released. The album doesn't come out til April 1st & April 2nd of 2013. It's not out yet. So denying my change seems pretty stupid. I guess that's why people always say Wikipedia is a joke. I get denied for trying to make a simple correction that is 100% accurate, yet the person who originally put the wrong information in the article gets to have his incorrect information stick. Seems pretty dumb to me...but if that's how you guys run this site, so be it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.148.153.70 (talk) 14:07, 16 March 2013 (UTC)

I asked that person at User talk:Jonjonjohny#Sempiternal_.28album.29.   — Jeff G. ツ (talk) 23:01, 16 March 2013 (UTC)
My apologies for removing something at the time that was considered true but unverified (i.e. The release date change) I may have undone it once as their was no source but in my own research found it to be true. However, now the article won't display the release date in the info box so I don't know what to do about that. As for the grammar of release, when it's close to the release I usually just write from past tense to avoid tedious future edits post-album release. I also should apologies to IP edits about any undo, as usually Anon editors who have edited Bring me the Horizon articles usually fight over specific things (Genre Warring, adding unsourced or intentionally wrong information) and it does make me get quite strict on additions whilst I work on the article. But none the less, I never meant to take full control of the article's content. Jonjonjohny (talk) 15:46, 17 March 2013 (UTC)
Thanks for the explanation. Please do us all a favor and wait until something has happened before you refer to it in the past tense.   — Jeff G. ツ (talk) 16:35, 17 March 2013 (UTC)

adults cannot develop "congenital syphilis"

Hi Jeff,

I deleted the word "congenital" on the page about A Doll's House because it is not medically possible for an adult to develop "congenital syphilis." Dr. Rank would have developed syphilis. If you click on the reference cited at the end of the sentence, it substantiates this. For accuracy, I hope you will consider removing the word "congenital" from the sentence. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.105.236.38 (talk) 22:44, 24 March 2013 (UTC)

The introduction to "Far right in Croatia" as it currently stands errs when it states that "The most common venue for expressing these beliefs is graffiti." As detailed in the article, graffiti is only one of many expressions of the far right. These include numerous examples of fascist chants during football matches (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-21906463), clothing and signs containing Ustaše logos (see entry), and neo-Nazi websites produced by Croats. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.171.37.223 (talk) 23:29, 24 March 2013 (UTC)

- Hi "Jeff G." - I wanted to let you know that you put an error back in the field. The 1947 AAFC Championship game did not involve the Baltimore Colts, as the box in the article indicated. The Colts were 2-11-1 that year, finishing last in their division. The game was 14-3, Browns over Yankees - not the Colts. Why getting this piece of information correct didn't seem "constructive" to you is beyond me.

Please reference http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1947_New_York_Yankees_(AAFC)_season, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/All-America_Football_Conference#1947, http://www.pro-football-reference.com/years/1947_AAFC/.

Thank you for your explanation, you are right. I am sorry, but I had not realized that there was a New York Yankees pro football team in 1947, and your edit appeared to provide no explanation.
