your comments on my username edit

I do not see what problem you might have with me changing my logon name (especially when I even explain my reason for it.

are you a wikipedia moderator?

@Solos-be: Hi, and welcome. I am a duly elected global renamer following global rename policy, global renamers policy, and Wikipedia:Changing username/Guidelines. Specifically relevant to you, the third note at Wikipedia:Changing username/Usurpations says "Please do not request usurpation of another account if your own user account is less than several months old, or barely used. In order to ensure that usurped usernames be put to good use, we prefer only to grant requests from reasonably well-established users." Also, the sixth bullet at Wikipedia:Changing username/Guidelines#When usurping is probably inappropriate says "Account requesting usurpation is not established. To ensure that good use is made of popular usernames, usurpation is reserved for established users. It is expected that an account requesting usurpation will have existed for several months and made non-trivial contributions to the encyclopedia." Please request again once your account existed for several months and made non-trivial contributions to the encyclopedia. Logging in will ensure that any non-trivial contributions you make are allocated to your named account.   — Jeff G. ツ 12:10, 5 December 2021 (UTC)

your welcome msg

as a did explain I did create a new user, because I was not aware ( after for a long time not having edited wiki pages) that the editing policy had changed. as you can probably verify , I did make frequent edits (corrections or dead link replacements) under my previous username solos. So maybe you could not entirely consider me en "new" editor and grant me the rename.

thanks in advance , bart koens

@Solos-be: Solos has no edits anywhere that I can find, exactly where are those edits?   — Jeff G. ツ 20:32, 5 December 2021 (UTC)

Solos has no edits anywhere that I can find, exactly where are those edits?

" Solos has no edits anywhere that I can find, exactly where are those edits? " I never saved or kept track of my edits one they got published

Just asked for a simple rename , but apparently Wikipedia lost all its freedom and became a censored closed shop :(

You gave me a welcome and hoped I'd stay , but that seems very unlikely after getting the impression I am talking to a government or other civil servant.

I guess maintenance of Wikipedia ,by just correcting simple (mostly spelling , grammar or reference errors is not welcome any longer.

Some advice before I go ahead

Hello,

I am looking to usurp one of two accounts, and would like some advice before I go ahead. I would like to usurp either:

User:Mako, (who has made no contributions in the last 12 years, and only 1 in the last 15). I understand that this is probably a "no", as they have made edits, but the policy doesn't really make it clear what the exceptions are, so I'll have a go anyway.

or

User:Mako001, an account I created about four years ago, but ended up unable to access, and so have been editing as an IP user until recently.

Can you advise if I am likely to succeed with either?

User:The Alternate Mako (talk) 05:06, 25 December 2021 (UTC)

@The Alternate Mako: I requested a password reset for Mako001, let's see how that goes.   — Jeff G. ツ 05:24, 25 December 2021 (UTC)
That probably won't work, the linked email doesn't exist anymore if I remember rightly. Are you able to confirm if the domain name ends in .wa.edu.au? If so the email is gone.User:The Alternate Mako (talk) 05:31, 25 December 2021 (UTC)
@The Alternate Mako: I can't, but the postmaster there may be able to help you.   — Jeff G. ツ 05:40, 25 December 2021 (UTC)
Just checked to make sure, and it hasn't come through, I'd say that it was linked to the deleted email. User:The Alternate Mako (talk)06:01, 25 December 2021 (UTC)
@The Alternate Mako: There is a chance that Mako might allow usurpation. Please request at WP:CHUU if you want to try that.   — Jeff G. ツ 07:19, 25 December 2021 (UTC)
