Wow, there's a lot to know! I think I'll need to work on getting a Masters in Wikipedia. Ok, I'll start reading up. Jelly Beanie 01:54, 11 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sandbox[edit]

The Sandbox is a good place to try out experiments in formatting and creating sections. If you do it at Wikipedia talk:Image copyright tags, someone might send you a rude note! :-) ElinorD (talk) 02:09, 11 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Oh my. Thank you again for telling me about this! I'm still reading now. Jelly Beanie

helpme[edit]

I just made my first article. Adolf Jülicher. Does it look right? What do I need to do before it's accepted? Jelly Beanie

Firstly, its already accepted, as soon as you create the article, it is "accepted" into wikipedia database, secondly the article could do with a category and also I believe that there is an article on the german wikipedia about the same scholar, which you can add a link to by adding :de: to the page, and for more general tips on how an article should look, check the Manual of style.--KerotanLeave Me a Message Have a nice day :) 18:40, 11 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I guess I didn't mean accepted. I mean before it's approved as a good enough article, so it's official. Is there a way to do that? And what kind of a category should I add? Jelly Beanie

Helpme[edit]

And I think I messed up Kuapa Kokoo. I just wanted to put in a magazine article reference, but I can't get it to look like the Economist reference. Help! Jelly Beanie

I believe I fixed it. Do put the helpme template back on if that's not what you wanted. - TwoOars (Rev) 18:55, 11 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you so much! That is exactly what I wanted. Cool! I am going to figure this out if it kills me. Jelly Beanie
It's a small thing actually. :) Here is how you have to use the tag...
 • ----> most basic form
 • ----> When you want to use the "something" reference multiple times
 • ----> when you use the "something" reference from the second time onwards

You used your reference for the first time; so you should have used the format in the second example. your mistake was adding an extra / and not putting the reference name in quotes. - TwoOars (Rev) 19:09, 11 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ohhh. I was so close. You are the awsomest! Jelly Beanie
I think I'm getting this! This is addictive. I'm just procrastinating. But it is very cool. Jelly Beanie

Helpme[edit]

helpme Did I do the category thing correctly? Adolf Jülicher. (Jelly Beanie)

Please be more specific. Anyway is the way to do it. TheBlazikenMaster 15:27, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I mean in the Adolf Jülicher article. Sorry, I guess that looked like I was signing my name as that. Jelly Beanie

Hi, Jelly Beanie. I don't normally help out at the Category:Wikipedians looking for help page, but I left your talk page on my watchlist after I welcomed you. The category in Adolf Jülicher looks fine. Regarding your addition of :de: to the article, which didn't work, take a look at Striped grass mouse. Depending on how you have your preferences set, you'll probably see on the left hand side "In other languages", where Deutch, Français, etc. link to the article about the Striped Grass Mouse on another language Wikipedia. Now click on the edit box in that Striped grass mouse article, and you'll see at the bottom of the page that it says de:Streifengrasmäuse, fr:Lemniscomys, etc. In other words, you put two square brackets, followed by the two-letter language code, followed by the name of the article in the other language, and you close the two square brackets. It will then become invisible in the article itself, when you save the page, but the article will have a link at the left hand side to the same article in a different language. Cheers. Thanks so much! Jelly Beanie

Gospel of Luke[edit]

Thanks for adding the reference for the Q document part of the Gospel of Luke article. However, I was wondering, while it was fresh in your head, if you could add a page number so it is easier for users doing research to find that part of the book in question (I have the book at home myself, and it's pretty darn big). Thanks for your consideration.-Andrew c [talk] 21:59, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sure, I just found it. The book is huge, over 1000 pages, and it's only volume 2! I had to laugh when I read in the intro to volume 2 that Meier had originally intended a 2 volume work (and volume 1 was only 500 pages), but he had to make it a 3-volume work after working more on part 2. And I know volume 3 is now supposed to be the 3rd of 4 volumes. Will volume 4 say its the 4th of 5? :) Its a great book though. I just wish it were published in smaller chunks, maybe 300 pages at a time, so it would be easier to read.
Okay, so Meier says Luke follows Q better than Matthew in several places, mostly in volume 1, but I've already returned volume 1 to the library. I found it in volume 2, and I think its in other places too. Let me know if I don't do the "ref" format right for this one, I'm still pretty new at this. Jelly Beanie
You are a real winner! Great work with the research and the formatting. I award you this hedgehog. I know it's a bit silly, but I want to encourage you. Keep up the good work. The reference looks formatted fine to me. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact me.-Andrew c [talk] 00:01, 22 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

He's so cute! I'm naming him Q in honor of the occasion. I'm sure I'll be here a lot, my ex warned me Wikipedia was addictive. :) Jelly Beanie 02:37, 22 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
