May 2010[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, you may not know that Wikipedia has a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Using different styles throughout the encyclopedia, as you did in John Thompson House, Highland, NY, makes it harder to read. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. TeapotgeorgeTalk 12:50, 28 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you. TeapotgeorgeTalk 13:12, 28 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Also, how do I include an external link that explains the Victorian Italianate style? See http://architecture.about.com/od/periodsstyles/ig/House-Styles/Italianate.htm Jenifergamber (talk) 13:18, 28 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. When you make a change to an article, please provide an edit summary for your edits. Doing so helps everyone to understand the intention of your edit. It is also helpful to users reading the edit history of the page. Thank you. and you are insisting on including details about the Thompson family that have no relation to the articles subject which is the house? TeapotgeorgeTalk 16:09, 28 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have removed extraneous information about the family. The importance of the house to the Hudson Valley, however, is related to who originally built and lived in the house as well as their contributions to the Hudson Valley. I believe this is within proper guidelines.Jenifergamber (talk) 01:51, 29 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
