I'm afraid few things are guaranteed to upset non-North Americans as quickly as Americanising spelling or grammar (incidentally the "h" in herb is sounded in Brit/Oz English, which is why it's "A herb"). Huh? Nobody outside Bangladesh and West Bengal speaks Bangla as their native. So, *Where* on earth do you get those 50 million Bengali speakers? Bangladesh's total population is 150 million, West Bengal has a similarly large population. I'm not here to "Win" or "fight". There is no problem with me if you provide a ranking of languages based on native speakers, from a reliable source. But rather than doing so, you just removed the existing citation, and replaced it with nothing. That is NOT the way to modify a referenced piece of information. which version of the ethnologue?[edit]

I am puzzled why you reverted my change to the head of the column. The reference given refers to the 1996 (13th) edition of the ethnologue (it was 'updated' 1999, but still uses 1996 data). www.ethnologue.com gives data from the 15th edition (2005). Yes, many of the figures in it are from previous years, but it's still the latest data. And try having a look at some of the figures. You can compare with the ethnologue list of most spoken languages. All the figures in there are from the 2005 edition. Drmaik 05:13, 21 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
