Speedy deletion nomination of The Ride (bus tour)

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice that The Ride (bus tour), a page that you created, has been tagged for deletion. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which articles can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. In response to your feedback

Quite the contrary, User:Basalisk never stated you were a target. Your article was deleted because it was written like an advertisement and was non-notable. Articles must be supported by reliable sources, especially third-party. Consider visiting Wikipedia:Writing better articles.

• Thank you, User:SwisterTwister - I totally agree & am fine with the conduct of User:Basalisk. I had asked assistance & he provided it. I was disappointed to receive the rough treatment of User:RHaworth when I wanted to cover all the bases of trying to create a better article. I dropped a note on the talk page as a courtesy: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:RHaworth/2012_Jul_06#The_RIDE_Page_Deletion. I thought it would be good to keep him in the loop as to my efforts to improve and get the article posted (it's not intended to be a frivolous ad, rather the actual item the article is about is a notable item, and warrants addition to wiki) -- so that that user would not thoughtlessly delete the page again without review or collaboration with other editors who are interested in having a good article posted here. --Jilliance (talk) 23:22, 12 July 2012 (UTC)

So far - it's all friction

I'm an extremely accommodating person. The combative nature of Wikipedia needs to actually be meaningfully addressed.

In response to your feedback

Most of the edits are test edits anyway, used for improving templates and wiki markup. These are often used for other articles, and besides, no one reverts their edits on the Sandbox. Something has to clean the page up, so bots do. If you are talking about a personal sandbox, then yeah, they really shouldn't be doing that.

Thank you Swordman97 but I'm still unclear - given that the sandbox is mine to edit or not edit (as a subpage of my own personal wiki account userpage)...why would a "bot" delete a user's personal sandbox page? what benefit is that to the general Wikipedia audience? or even fellow editors? no one has a reason to visit that page ever, unless i'm asking for collaboration....correct? Perhaps if I knew the frequency of these bots I can help make my activities indicate to the bots that the information i'm editing on my sandbox is currently in use....? Your sandbox

The person who was looking through your userspace was RHaworth. He marked the page to put it into the speedy deletion category, and I was going through that category to see which pages needed to be deleted.

In general, it's not a good idea to take content from an about-to-be-deleted article and put it into your userspace. However, since you did this so that you could clean up the article text and make it suitable, I've undeleted the page; you can find it at User:Jilliance/sandbox, just like before. There is (or was) a problem with your sandbox – it contains category links so that it puts your sandbox into publicly visible categories. It's probably because of this that Alan Liefting blanked it. You need to remove the category links before you restore it. Peter coxhead (talk) 21:57, 12 September 2012 (UTC)

Hello Jilliance. I've restored your sandbox and commented out the the categories and wikibanners which was causing it to be categorised alongside mainspace pages. I hope that helps, sorry your introduction to Wikipedia has been troubled by this inconsiderate edit. Let me know if I can be of assistance to you. Welcome again. A discussion about what happened to your sandbox has been started at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Archive239#Alan Liefting, categories in userspace, and bite. While the focus of the discussion is not about your edits, such discussions have a tendency to expand, so they may start discussing your edits or your andbox article as well. If you would get some negative comments there, please remember that most of it will be well meaning, and that there are quite a number of people around here who do try to help new users instead of attacking them or their efforts. Thank you all Peter coxhead, Fram, The Rambling Man, & Alan Liefting for your replies. I was not aware using a tag on a sandbox page would add that private page to a public page or listing. In reading the pages where the tags were found, it did not mention use in sandboxes, so it's news to me, which I welcome. As you can see in the descriptions of various edits to my sandbox page history, nothing I do here is an attempt at anything more than improving the article I hope will be published, which includes categorizing it properly and including appropriate photos, headings and content...

As I'm sure you're aware, reading all of the rules, guidelines and regulations present on Wikiepedia can be a 40-hour/week job in itself, which I absolutely cannot afford to do. I try my very best to read and apply all pertinent guidelines and am nothing if not eager to comply with everything possible, including sobriety tests. I will not offer negative comments. If I need to defend myself or cooperate with any editors who have questions or extra guidance to offer, I'm more than open to that. Jilliance (talk) 17:58, 13 September 2012 (UTC)
