Speedy deletion declined: Erebus haunted house

Hello Jim1138, and thanks for patrolling new pages! I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Erebus haunted house, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Not unambiguously promotional. You may wish to review the Criteria for Speedy Deletion before tagging further pages. Thank you. (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 14:21, 24 May 2012 (UTC)

Speedy too old?

I think you misunderstand deletion policy. (And don't let me being a "mere" IP editor fool you. I'm not a newbie, so please don't treat me like one.) Nothing in the policy pages says anything about speedy deletes having an expiration based on article age. The only standards are whether or not they meet certain content criteria. Though I've been around the block, I made sure to double-check that I was using the right process before doing it. Take a look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Criteria_for_speedy_deletion and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Deletion_process and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Deletion_policy#Speedy_deletion You'll find that none of them say a thing about pages being too old to speedy delete. I'm not going to put the tag back until you get back to me, because I'm not looking to start an edit war over something so silly. --76.180.172.75 (talk) 04:47, 28 May 2012 (UTC)

Hi Jim, thanks for your message... I decided to reply nonetheless. My decision to remove that reference at Nutmeg was based on the fact that I recently cleaned up behind someone leaving a number of similar reference, only to notice that someone else had removed them afterwards... describing them as random spammish additions. The removal summaries made perfect sense to me, so it was the logic I went with upon detecting ongoing activities of similar appearance. I'll be on the lookout for more of these as I surf about. Citing diffs in user warnings

Hi Jim1138, I noticed your intervention with the IP user editing at Lance Armstrong. I was curious, what parameters do you use to cite diffs in the user warning template? Rinkle gorge (talk) 05:02, 4 June 2012 (UTC)

I use wp:huggle which does it automatically. However, you need wp:rollback rights to use it. You can copy / paste the diff from the address bar. Slow going that way. If you want rollback rights, you need to do a certain amount of vandalism patrolling first. Cheers Jim1138 (talk) 05:06, 4 June 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for the advice. You might not know the answer to this question, but I'll ask anyways: if I were to paste the diff URL into the warning template, do you know if it would look something like this: {{subst:uw-vandalism1|Page|diff URL}} ? Rinkle gorge (talk) 05:11, 4 June 2012 (UTC)
I don't think it will add anything. See: Template:Uw-vand1 You can always test things out by using the "Show preview" button instead of "Save page". Cheers Jim1138 (talk) 05:41, 4 June 2012 (UTC)

For a comparison, look at Penn State University including (probably) [[talk:Penn State University. I am sure that many would like for that to disappear. Badshah Munir Bukhari

Dear Jim1138, I hope you are well. I see that you very helpfully edited the Badshah Munir Bukhari page today. I have since had to highlight issues with this page on the WP:BLPNB. I am unsure about the assertion made by another editor on the Talk Page that the unhelpful and inaccurate edits are being made by the subject himself, or whether that is even relevant. But it does seem that someone wants continuously to create an inaccurate bio. Any chance you could please have another look? Thank you very much.George Custer's Sabre (talk) 11:04, 14 June 2012 (UTC)

Yes the UofP website lists him as Mr. His book review lists him as Dr. though it does not translate well via [url=http://translate.google.com google]. Perhaps UofP should be notified? If you want to recommend the article for deletion, I believe that you need to post here: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. I don't think that it will be deleted from WP:BLPNB Probably should mention on WP:BLPNB about the deletion request as well. I warned the IP about his error. Thanks for taking care of that! Dear Jim1138, thank you kindly for having a look at this. When I started editing the page recently it really did read like a fan page. It has become a lot better. But, as you say, the issue of notability still needs to be looked at. Thanks again. You are a star. Regards,George Custer's Sabre (talk) 17:42, 14 June 2012 (UTC)
