Concern regarding Diamond chess and Chess variants[edit]

Hi. I note that you previously tried to create an article called Diamond chess, which was deleted. You have subsequently deleted mention of Diamond chess from Chess variants, which has drawn some attention. I would comment that while a subject may not be suitable for an article (yet) it can be included as a reference elsewhere. Under the circumstances, I suggest that you do not edit to remove mention of Diamond chess from the encyclopedia. If you can find good reliable third party sources for the popularity for the game of Diamond chess then perhaps you may consider recreating the stub article, initially in your userspace. If you disrupt the encyclopedia by editing inappropriately, however, then you may be blocked from being able to contribute. LessHeard vanU (talk) 19:18, 16 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Creation and deletion[edit]

As a reply to your message you left me, I see you are fairly new to WP, so in good faith I removed my two templates.

Your main problem was trying to delete the page - only admins can delete pages - you cannot remove the article yourself. Once you have created a page then if it is just mainly your own edits, and you don't really want it then you may apply a WP:CSD G7 template to the top of the page (no need to delete the content) to have it removed, however if several other editors have made some changes then you can't do that any more as you would be deleting their input, therefore you then have to use either a different WP:CSD template (i.e not author requests deletion) OR WP:PROD to propose a deletion OR WP:AFD for more complex pages.

Just blanking a page is very likely to get a swift revert (more often than not from an automated bot) with a warning. As LessHeard vanU says above, it is much easier to create new pages in ones users space - even creating one's own sandbox for the purpose (e.g. User talk:Jimguyer/Sandbox ). Once the page is complete then you can just do a cut and paste into a proper page.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 19:35, 16 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
