Re. Revert Battle[edit]

Thank you for contacting me. I made a bried analysis of the situation here. According to European American, "A European American, or a Euro-American, is a person who resides in the United States and is either the descendant of European immigrants or from Europe him or herself. They are classified as White in the United States Census, 2000". I must say that I found 23prootie's edits rather senseless. I can't see where's the E.U. bias there, as there's many European ethnicities mentioned there from countries that are not even part of the European Union. Adding entries such as "Canadian" or "Pennsylvania Dutch" is really out of line. I see that users have been discussing this on the talk page, so the revert war is likely to cease. Tell me if it persists. Regards, Húsönd 04:10, 14 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Basque banner[edit]

Hi, Joebengo! Looks like I'll probably finish up with tthe WikiProject Spain banners tonight. If you're still up for it, I can then run your Basque articles tomorrow.

I took a look at Joebengo/categories and (to my untrained eye) the list looks like they're all at least 80% Basque, so we shouldn't have a problem with over-tagging. Do you know approximately how many articles are in those categories? If it's less than 1,000, I can run them all in one go. If there are more than that, I should split it into two runs.

Let me know when you want to proceed! -- SatyrTN (talk | contribs) 14:50, 3 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Somehow I missed your reply until now - I'll get it ready, but it won't start until tomorrow. Since we don't know how many articles there are, I'm going to break it into two runs. Thanks, and let me know if you have any questions or anything crops up. -- SatyrTN (talk | contribs) 06:31, 5 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, Joebengo! I've completed the two runs to add the banner to your category list. Let me know if I can help with anything else! -- SatyrTN (talk | contribs) 14:46, 7 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Tamil CFD[edit]

Over at Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2007 March 9#Category:Tamil Americans, you'll probably want to elaborate on your reasoning for your !vote. What you've said is fairly similar to WP:PERNOM and probably won't be weighed very heavily by the closing admin. Elaborating on what you feel is important there will help, though. =) coelacan — 02:36, 15 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Iepa, Joe.

I have been through a loooong wikibreak. I was thinking in leaving Wikipedia totally but fineally some justice has been made in one major issue behind my wiki-attrition (certain very disruptive and wearing neonazi element has finally been banned, not without much struggle) and I'm considering to return now.

My dear Basque brother. Please do not be discouraged by the Rfa negative votes, nobody had only positive vote din their Rfa’s. Please go on, and if you will not be successful this time, wait a while and apply again. It takes time and will. Don’t pay attention to negative comments; in every Rfa I have seen them for all candidates. Give it another try later. Don’t worry about the Basque language, I already contacted some users from Basque Wikipedia. Can you please tell me, why there is no article about History of the Basque Land? There is only article about History of Basque people. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Euskera (talkcontribs) 22:21, 10 April 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Image:Brannon.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Brannon.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Jkelly 22:00, 11 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

United States Naval Academy[edit]

Hello User Joebengo,

I have been working closely with Rear Admiral DeLoach and the Pentagon in a project about Hispanic-American naval officers.

I have some infromation which I believe that may be of interest to you and which if you like you can add to the article.

The article mentions the first African-American and female graduates, but fails to mention the first Hispanic_American.

The first Hispanic-American to graduate from the academy was Commodore Robert F. Lopez, USN * USNA Class of 1879. Born March 31, 1857 in Davenport, Iowa. Admitted to USNA September 29,1874. Appointed from Tennessee, 9th Congressional District. Retired June 30, 1911 with the rank of commodore. Fought at the Battle of Manila Bay with Admiral Dewey. Retired in 1911 but recalled to service during WWI and acted as commandant of Mare Island for a time.Died September 20, 1936 in Alameda, California.

Sources of information: Jennifer Bryan <bryan@usna.edu> 04/11/07; Obituary in NY Times, October 1, 1936 (page 25); NY Times article "Navy Board Retires Fourteen Officers," July 4, 1911 (page 13).

By the way, you have a great article, take care and have a nice day. Tony the Marine 19:51, 14 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hispanics in the Navy[edit]

Joebengo,

I'll let you know when I post my "Hispanic Admirals in the US Navy". I'm waiting for Adm. DeLoach to take a look at it. I'm glad that you applied for the academy, I'm sure that you'll be hearing from them. Tony the Marine 17:39, 15 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:6373_lg.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:6373_lg.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MER-C 10:22, 7 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:Statesivebeento.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI 21:15, 17 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
