I have now changed my account signature name from 'john c mcglinchey' to 'alpha 123456' Can we -C.Fred, please change the article with my signature from 'john c mcglinchey' to 'alpha 123456' please. The Articles comments will still be maintained, just the signature will change maintaining my security measures and data protection act of 1988.

Many thanks for your time.

Actually, that might have made things worse, unless you have a link to your user and user talk pages in the signature. WP:SIGNATURE states the following: "A customised signature should make it easy to identify the username, to visit the user's talk-page, and preferably user page." If there's not at least a link back, you may start getting the {{unsigned}} template added to your signatures, which will still show your account name visibly. —C.Fred (talk) 13:10, 16 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Yes the signature is linked to the account. If this is correct, are we able to make the amendment to the signature name which will still link to my account?
It would help if you signed your messages here so I could see the new sig. :) But you can only change the signatures. You should not change the name of any person appearing in the discussion. —C.Fred (talk) 13:39, 16 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent edits[edit]

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 23:26, 21 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, talk pages are meant to be a record of a discussion; deleting or editing legitimate comments, as you did at Talk:Nethy Bridge, is considered bad practice, even if you meant well. Even making spelling and grammatical corrections in others' comments is generally frowned upon, as it tends to irritate the users whose comments you are correcting. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. —C.Fred (talk) 17:03, 8 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • If you are unhappy with the name of your account, you need to change the name of your account. It is disruptive to conceal comments you made behind a username that is either unregistered or belongs to another user. —C.Fred (talk) 18:57, 15 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
