I am Jonathan Hansler and I am editing my own bioogrsphy which was piblished without my knowledge Jonhans (talk) 06:47, 23 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop editing any article about yourself[edit]

@Jonhans:, I know this may seem strange but please cease editing the article about yourself. Please read our policy on conflicts of interest. You'll see what you should do next and how to manage this situation. Please ask questions here if you have any. I know full well this may seem weird to you but if you keep editing the article on you, you will be blocked. And no one wants that. --AdamF in MO (talk) 06:59, 23 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Notice of Conflict of interest noticeboard discussion[edit]

Information icon There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Conflict of interest/Noticeboard regarding a possible conflict of interest incident with which you may be involved. Thank you. Please don't view this as something threatening or anything like that. There are ways that you can have any of your concerns about the biography addressed and any policies explained to you. AdamF in MO (talk) 07:12, 23 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I never authorised my page.Someone did this and it is costing me work. Jonhans (talk) 07:28, 23 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I know you didn't authorize the article. I know it may be frustrating but all of our articles are written from a neutral point of view. We don't allow people to edit their articles about themselves so that we can preserve the integrity of our content. --AdamF in MO (talk) 07:49, 23 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Jonhans: Jon, we also have reality strict policies toward biographies of living persons you can read about them here. I did some looking around and it appears that the source we had for that information is no longer available. So I have removed it. You should be aware that any information that we have a reliable source for is available for inclusion. So the information may be added again at some later day. If you have any other problems or questions, or if you see information that is inaccurate or doesn't reflect reliable sources then please leave a note on the talk page of that article or tag me here and I'll try to help. Cheers. AdamF in MO (talk) 08:10, 23 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict of interest[edit]

Information icon Hello, Jonhans. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you.) Henry20090 (talk) 08:19, 23 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I would not edit anything of my own if it did not have dates on which set my age in stone and therefore cost me work . Jonhans (talk) 08:35, 23 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I understand. But, try to make edit requests instead of directly editing your own page, okay? Henry20090 (talk) 08:40, 23 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

How to request an edit to an article that you have a conflict of interest on.[edit]

@Jonhans: I have quoted a section from our policies on conflicts of interest here for you. You can find the specific section here.

"...if you propose significant or potentially controversial changes to an affected article, you can use the {{request edit}} template. Place this at the bottom of the talk page and state your suggestion beneath it (be sure to sign it with four tildes, ~~~~). If the proposal is verifiable and appropriate, it will usually be accepted. If it is declined, the editor declining the request will usually add an explanation below your entry."

I hope this will help you. Jon, I know this can be difficult, frustrating, and annoying. I assure you we have good reasons for these policies and if you have any questions we are here for you. --AdamF in MO (talk) 08:24, 23 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

June 2020[edit]

This account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because the username, Jonhans, matches the name of a well-known, living person.

If you are the person represented by this username, please note that the practice of blocking such usernames is to protect you from being impersonated, not to discourage you from editing Wikipedia. You may choose to edit under a new username (see information below), but keep in mind that you are welcome to continue to edit under this username. If you choose to do so, we ask the following:

  1. Please be willing and able to prove your identity to Wikipedia.
  2. Please send an email to info-en@wikimedia.org. Be aware that the volunteer response team that handles email is indeed operated entirely by volunteers, and the reply may not be immediate.

If you are not the person represented by this username, you are welcome to choose a new username (see below).

A username should not be promotional, related to a "real-world" group or organization, misleading, offensive, or disruptive. Also, usernames may not end in the word "bot" unless the account is an approved bot account.

You are encouraged to choose a new account name that meets our policy guidelines and create the account yourself. Alternatively, if you wish for your existing contributions to carry over under a new name, then you may request a change in username by:

  1. Adding {{unblock-un|your new username here}} below. You should be able to do this even though you are blocked. If not, you may wish to contact the blocking administrator by clicking on "Email this user" from their talk page.
  2. At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a change of name request.
  3. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use. Therefore, please check the list here to see if a name is taken prior to requesting a change of name.
Appeals: If, after reading the guide to appealing blocks you believe you were blocked in error, then you may appeal this block by adding {{unblock|Your reason here}} below this notice,. — Newslinger talk 11:46, 23 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
