Welcome![edit]

Hello, Jonlipski, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Ian and I work with the Wiki Education Foundation; I help support students who are editing as part of a class assignment.

I hope you enjoy editing here. If you haven't already done so, please check out the student training library, which introduces you to editing and Wikipedia's core principles. You may also want to check out the Teahouse, a community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to helping new users. Below are some resources to help you get started editing.

Welcome![edit]

Hello, Jonlipski, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few links to pages you might find helpful:

You may also want to take the Wikipedia Adventure, an interactive tour that will help you learn the basics of editing Wikipedia. You can visit The Teahouse to ask questions or seek help.

Please remember to sign your messages on talk pages by typing four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask for help on your talk page, and a volunteer should respond shortly. Again, welcome! Ground Zero | t 12:13, 13 April 2016 (UTC) Jon, I have added some more links above that will help you edit in Wikipedia better. I have edited your article on ICEX, and I see that you either reverted them or overwrote them. I have reinstated my edits, and will go back to do more edits. One of the first things you will learn about writing in Wikipedia is that you do not own articles that you have started. Wikipedia is "the encyclopedia that anyone can edit" as it says at the bottom of most pages.[reply]

If this is a "work in progress" and you prefer to work on your sandbox version, then let's take down the article until you are ready to post it. Do not copy and paste from your sandbox over the article, because then you will be overwriting all of the corrections that I have made. I won't make them again: I will restore my last version instead. Please work in the article only.

I made edits to fix grammatical and punctuation errors, and to reduce repetition, and I have made edits to bring this more in line with what an encyclopedia article should be: factual and neutral. Wikipedia is an international encyclopedia, not an American one, so phrases like "our country" don't belong: many Wikipedia readers do not share you nationality. Further, as an encyclopedia article, it should report on facts, and not advocate policies.

I hope that the above resources help, and that you enjoy contributing to Wikipedia. Ground Zero | t 12:13, 13 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
