The article Palmerton community band has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No indication of notability per WP:BAND.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. ... discospinster talk 22:42, 26 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Criterion 7 of WP:BAND refers to musicians that have brought widespread attention ("most prominent") to the city's musical scene (e.g. Nirvana representing the grunge scene of Seattle, or Stevie Wonder and Detroit Motown). It doesn't mean that it's very prominent only within the city itself. There would have to be significant coverage in sources showing that this band is known outside of the Palmerton community. ... discospinster talk 01:09, 27 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I feel like that should be clearer on the criteria page -- I wish I knew this before I made the article. I've remarked the band article for deletion. Joe Seemiller (talk) 01:18, 27 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You are invited to the National Archives ExtravaSCANza, taking place every day next week from January 4–7, Wednesday to Saturday, in College Park, Maryland (Washington, DC metro area). Come help me cap off my stint as Wikipedian in Residence at the National Archives with one last success!

This will be a casual working event in which Wikipedians are getting together to scan interesting documents at the National Archives related to a different theme each day—currently: spaceflight, women's suffrage, Chile, and battleships—for use on Wikipedia/Wikimedia Commons. The event is being held on multiple days, and in the evenings and weekend, so that as many locals and out-of-towners from nearby regions1 as possible can come. Please join us! 1 Wikipedians from DC, Baltimore, Philadelphia, Newark, New York City, and Pittsburgh have been invited.
