You are invited to participate in Wiki Loves Pride, a global campaign to create and improve LGBT-related content at Wikipedia during the month of June, culminating with a multinational edit-a-thon on June 21. The project is being spearheaded by two organizers with roots in the Pacific Northwest. Meetups are being organized in some cities, or you can participate remotely. Wikimedia Commons will also be hosting an LGBT-related photo challenge. In Portland, there are two ways to contribute. One is a photography campaign called "Pride PDX", for pictures related to LGBT culture and history. The Wiki Loves Pride edit-a-thon will be held on Saturday, June 21 from noon–4pm at Smith Memorial Student Union, Room 236 at Portland State University. Prior Wikipedia editing is not required; assistance will be available the day of the event. Attendees should bring their own laptops and cords. Feel free to showcase your work here!

Hi Josh! I notice that you renamed a few of these recently. If you check out List of inactive United States Navy aircraft squadrons and List of United States Navy aircraft squadrons, you'll see that the vast majority of the articles about squadrons are titled with the designation of the squadron, e.g., VA-1L, rather than their names spelled out in some other fashion, e.g., Attack Squadron One L.
If you check out the official publications about the squadrons, you'll also find that they are oriented around the "VA-1L"-type squadron designation system. See, for example, THIS ONE There are other considerations involved, and they were discussed at length six months or so ago. It might be best to stick with what is here already. - @Lou Sander:: No problem, there are a variety named different ways, though you are right, VA-1L is the generally dominant style. You can rename them to the results of the discussion, and I will see if I can get to the ones I have touched. It would be a good idea actually if we can to do it for as many as possible because there are still a lot of articles out there that don't match any one convention. I can help with that too if you would like. I'm not partial to one name or another, but it should be consistent, and also, appropriate redirects should be added as well so they can be found regardless of format. - The discussions I mentioned took place in early 2014, and as I remember it were for the most part were on my UserPage and in Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Aviation and another one, maybe Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Military History. There was a LOT of back and forth, but no huge disputes or universal consensus. I was deeply involved in squadron articles at the time, and as I recall it, people were basically willing to go along with my ideas, and to stick with the terminology in DANAS. Some of the stuff was HERE and HERE. One of the things I recall was that, for the VA squadrons, there were many similarly-titled articles about Virginia Highways. After much thought and discussion, that was solved by putting (U.S. Navy) on the end of VA squadron articles, even though it wasn't the generally preferred way of adding stuff in parentheses. That was just the best and easiest solution we could think of. Lou Sander (talk) 14:15, 24 November 2014 (UTC)
