An exciting opportunity to get involved!

As a member of the Aviation WikiProject or one of its subprojects, you may be interested in testing your skills in the Aviation Contest! I created this contest, not to pit editor against editor, but to promote article improvement and project participation and camraderie. Hopefully you will agree with its usefulness. Sign up here, read up on the rules here, and discuss the contest here. The first round of the contest may not start until September 1st-unless a large number of editors signup and are ready to compete immediately! Since this contest is just beginning, please give feedback here, or let me know what you think on my talkpage. - Trevor MacInnis contribs 04:44, 22 August 2009 (UTC)

Thank you for uploading File:JharkhandSimdega.png. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. [midnight comet] [talk] 13:35, 28 August 2009 (UTC)

NowCommons: File:HaryanaAmbala.png

File:HaryanaAmbala.png is now available on Wikimedia Commons as Commons:File:HaryanaAmbala.png. This is a repository of free media that can be used on all Wikimedia wikis. The image will be deleted from Wikipedia, but this doesn't mean it can't be used anymore. You can embed an image uploaded to Commons like you would an image uploaded to Wikipedia, in this case: [[File:HaryanaAmbala.png]]. Note that this is an automated message to inform you about the move. This bot did not copy the image itself. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 20:30, 23 September 2009 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Ila (Hinduism) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. The references like Ṛgveda and Śatapatha Brāhmaṇa added by you in the article are WP:PRIMARY references, can you find secondary references to support the content? --Redtigerxyz Talk 16:35, 2 November 2009 (UTC)

Does Misra, V.S. (2007) give the Rigveda hymn nos.? Formatted reference per this meaning. Ila is spelt as इल only as male and इला as female. Please do not change. --Redtigerxyz Talk 17:56, 2 November 2009 (UTC)
Standard IAST for Ila and Ilā is used in the article but how many people would understand the scholarly IAST?, thus Devanagari - the primary script of Sanskrit - can be used for spelling Ila and Ilā. Moreover, the primary names of Puranic deities in Devanagari Sanskrit are included in all related articles including FA Ganesha.--Redtigerxyz Talk 18:23, 2 November 2009 (UTC)
There are 3 reasons for using Sanskrit rather than script Devanagari: 1. Devanagari is the primary script of Sanskrit 2. Sanskrit as a language is better known than Devanagari the script. 3. Devanagari is used for Marathi and Hindi as the primary scripts besides Sanskrit. If a word in a Devanagri, than which of these 3 it corresponds to? बालि and बळी (Bali) are both in Devanagari but but the former is Sanskrit, the latter Marathi. If one want a wider discussion of the issue, I suggest you approach Wikipedia talk:Noticeboard for India-related topics --Redtigerxyz Talk 15:04, 3 November 2009 (UTC)

Unreferenced BLPs

Hello Joy1963! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 941 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

  1. Gamal Nkrumah - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL

undid revisions

hi,

You undid my revisions on mauryan dynasty rulers despite the references provided by me by labelling them irrelevant. Please elaborate how and why ??? plus plz. provide proofs and citations to support your views.

Maurya surname is still found in Jats of haryana in India,

,,,plus i have provided other references too which are widely accepted by everyone than why are you labelling them irrelevant??? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Royal Jat Warrior (talkcontribs) 11:49, 23 February 2010 (UTC)

I also undid some of the revisions by the above user; I've dropped a note on his talk page. The edits reminded me of the Uncyclopedia article on the Jats: "despite this, every great person who has ever lived has turned out to be a Jat. Unbelievable as such a claim as this seems, you only need to ask any Jat, or read any book written by a Jat to see that this is true.". utcursch | talk 11:58, 23 February 2010 (UTC)

heres another book by non-jat claiming Jat origin of mauryas---

An Imperial History Of India (c.700 BC - c.770 AD) By K.P. Jayaswal - the Sanskrit Text, Revised by Rahul Sankrityayana

Publisher - Motilal Banarasi Dass, The Punjab Sanskrit Book Depot, Sasdmrha, Lahore, 1934

plus why iranians are supporting Jat origin theory ????
