This is your Talk page where you can receive messages from other Wikipedians and discuss things with them. At the end of your messages you should always enter your signature by signing with four ~~~~ or by pressing the button in the editor shown here in the picture. By the way, it is not necessary to sign edits that you make in the articles themselves as those messages will be deleted. My name is Brendon. If you have any questions or face any initial hurdles, post {{helpme|your question}} on your talk page (this page), someone will quickly come up and attend to your query. And also, feel free to contact me on my talk page and I will do what I can to assist. Good Luck Editing!

May 2012[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Fairground Attraction has been reverted.
Your edit here to Fairground Attraction was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline. The external link(s) you added or changed (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Mark-Nevin/144900402238056) is/are on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia.
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Thanks! --XLinkBot (talk) 21:03, 21 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there; are you Sukey Parnell? J Milburn (talk) 10:52, 28 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Possibly unfree File:Smallcolourpickpic.jpg[edit]

A file that you uploaded or altered, File:Smallcolourpickpic.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Possibly unfree files because its copyright status is unclear or disputed. If the file's copyright status cannot be verified, it may be deleted. You may find more information on the file description page. You are welcome to add comments to its entry at the discussion if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. Muhandes (talk) 11:01, 28 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on File:Smallcolourpickpic.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Mark E. Nevin. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Please be particularly aware, Wikipedia's policy on edit warring states:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made; that is to say, editors are not automatically "entitled" to three reverts.
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. Please stop edit warring and discuss the matter raised on the band's talk page. Per WP:MUSBIO "members of notable bands are redirected to the band's article, not given individual articles, unless they have demonstrated individual notability for activity independent of the band, such as solo releases". In the article you created, you have not demonstrated notability. Muhandes (talk) 11:11, 28 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I am very confused as to how to do this... I am a former member of Fairground Attraction. I have tried to create a page that links from the Fairground Attraction page to mine (as does other former member Eddi Reader) and every time I try to - I am blocked from doing so. I have also had a photograph that was taken by Sukey Parnell and commissioned by me) taken off - why? - I paid for it to be taken on the understanding that I am allowed to use it as I wish .

Thank you for your help,

Best,

Mark

Please do not write an article about yourself, as you apparently did at Mark E. Nevin. Creating an autobiography is strongly discouraged – see our guideline on writing autobiographies. If you create such an article, it may be deleted. If what you have done in life is genuinely notable and can be verified according to our policy for articles about living people, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later (see Wikipedians with articles). Please understand that this is an encyclopedia and not a personal web space or social networking site. If your article has already been deleted, please see: Why was my page deleted?, and if you feel the deletion was an error, please discuss it with the deleting administrator. Thank you. • Regarding the image, it was not clear that you are the owner and are releasing it to the pubic, and the image metadata stated the image copyright is owned by Sukey Parnell. If indeed you own the image and wish to donate it to the public, I think you will need to send your consent, see WP:CONSENT and WP:DCM.
  • Regarding the article, I linked above our boilerplate text explaining why writing an autobiography is strongly discouraged.
  • I am going to leave your query for help open, in case someone at the help channel wishes to add anything. --Muhandes (talk) 11:30, 28 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I'm afraid I can't add much to what Muhandes has said. Wikipedia articles have to be written neutrally, and writing about yourself in a neutral way can be difficult. As for the image, did you and the photographer explicitly agree that copyright was passing to you, or was the agreement only that you could use the image as you wished? J Milburn (talk) 15:46, 28 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I've nulled the help template since there are two users helping out here. If additional input is needed please feel free to reactivate it. Robert Skyhawk (T C) 22:15, 28 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
