Hey. Great job thus far on those lists; the NFL lists take a lot of effort to pull off since they're so many players that have to be added. May I suggest putting them into columns though? It makes it look a lot neater that way {e.g. Houston Astros all-time roster). Creating a template of each list as shown at that bottom of the page will help as well. Keep up the good work! Citations, wherever possible, should appear directly following punctuation, so move those which are to the left of punctuation (full stop/period) to the other side, the right hand side of the punctuation (full stop/period)! I've modified the page on Washington Redskins player Cris Crissy, as it was labeled as a stub. You seem to have modified it after I did, to its original format, which contained little information about him. You can find confirmation of some of the information I placed on it on Wikipedia pages, and other information confirmed on other web sources. Other information cannot be confirmed on the web, as it is over 25 years old and can only be confirmed in print sources not available on the internet. All information is correct. Well the way I do it and some other users do it, is in this order: birth year, living person, birthplace, there position, college, the teams they played for in order of tenure, and if they were a Pro Bowler that usually goes last. You should find a consensus on this before you go through changing them. This is not common practice so if you want that to change it should be on your to find a consensus before you go around changing it.

Pittsburgh Steelers template

It is usually customary to only put Team templates on pages are included in the template itself. Are you planning to put this template on every single Pittsburgh Steelers player page? American (American) football players...

Regarding revisions at Marko Mitchell: American is both his nationality and a qualifier for the sport of American gridiron football. Saying "X is a (nationality) (description)..." is a standard opening line for an encyclopedia entry and immediately lays out a clear description for the individual, and that's how I usually write opening lines for biographical entries. Saying "American American football" would be redundant. But qualifying football with "American" is unnecessary in this case as (1) "football wide receiver..." clearly means an American football player, (2) association football players from the United States would be referred to not as "American football players" but as either "American association football" or "American soccer players", (3) association football players are often referred to as "footballers" instead of "football players", and (4) the word "football" is linked to the article on the American variety. I appreciate you have a valid point, but I think including nationality (and linking the way that I did) makes it clear to readers. Strikehold (talk) 20:39, 5 June 2009 (UTC)

Including the nationality is pointless, a HUGE majority of NFL players are American anyway. It makes sense for baseball players because there are tons of players from the Dominican Republic, Canada, Mexico, etc, but not for NFL players.--Yankees10 18:40, 6 June 2009 (UTC)

I really don't care that much about it either way, but saying it "is pointless" isn't an argument. I'm not sure you actually know what we were discussing, but it was how to link the lead sentence not its syntax. Making nationality clearer would create uniformity across the project and it is at the least informative. Yes, of course, most American football players are from the U.S. but there are plenty that are not. To name a few off the top of my head: Knute Rockne, the Gramaticas, Domonique Foxworth, Pete Gogolak, Ndamukong Suh, Sebastian Vollmer, Mike Vanderjagt, Harald Hasselbach, Jehuu Caulcrick, Amobi Okoye, Madieu Williams, Moise Fokou, Gary Anderson... The Persondata template has been deprecated and is no longer supported, but many of the templates still contain accurate and usable information that has not been transferred to Persondata's replacement, Wikidata. Jwalte, I'm always looking for new recruits to help with the Persondata transfer to Wikidata. Here's a start: (1) pick an NFL player article that still has the Persondata template. (2) Look at the "Tools" menu on the left-hand side of the page, and click on the "Wikidata item" underneath. That takes you to the Wikidata profile for the Wikipedia article. (3) Look at a few more Wikidata profiles, and compare the Wikidata information to the Persondata information in the Wikipedia articles. Virginia Tech

Thank you for your recent contributions to Virginia Tech football; I try to research college football in the south prior to 1933. I am especially grateful for the inclusion of rosters. How do you think one should treat the names of those teams? Virginia A&M, VPI, and Virginia Tech all seem to have their times as the most common. Then there is whether they are Hokies or Gobblers. You're welcome! And thank you for all your help! I have decided to do a lot of work on Virginia Tech Football history, and completing the seasons seemed to be the best place to start. And I was having difficulty with the exact same questions regarding the name and mascot. It seems VAMC was used until 1896, then "Polytechnic Institute" was added and people just kept calling it VPI until they changed their name officially to that in 1944. In 1970 the name changed again to Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. But since then, they have been called for the most part Virginia Tech (even though is wasnt authorized until the early 90s). So its kinda tough regarding the name. The mascot, however, is even more difficult. I have been trying to find out when their specific names officially changed, but havent had much luck. They have been referred to by so many names. Caddies or Techmen in the early years, then Gobblers, then Fighting Gobblers, then eventually hokies. I will have to do much more research. The story goes that in 1909, Princeton returned a fumble and missed the point after to go up 5 to 0. Hoss Hodgson returned a fumble of his own; made the extra point to go up 6 to 5. Princeton then hits a field goal in the waning moments, 8 to 6. I cannot find a too reliable source for this account yet, though. Such is why 1909 is lauded in Tech's lore. Leading Princeton is a big deal, and had they beaten the Tigers probably only national champion Yale's season would have been considered better by the Eastern writers. Question - when adding cities to this list... I see that in the edit summary, you are stating that you are adding planned marches. At this point, only confirmed marches with sources should be added to the list... we are now after-the-fact. Hello. I am adding lists of planned marches so that folks can then look for information on each of those specific marches. I think its easier to find sources on marches when you know what cities to look for. Having a specific town or city to look for will probably yield better results than just aimlessly searching for small towns in Idaho that had marches. However, if this doesn't help the cause, I will stop doing it. I just think that knowing the planned marches will allow this list to be completed quicker since sources should be easier to find. American football stubs

Wikipedia guidelines were changed early last year to require all sports biographies to have at least one piece of WP:SIGCOV (not counting database entries). In recent months, there have been efforts to draftify en masse sport substubs that do not comply with this requirement. Accordingly, we have begun a campaign to improve American football biographies that could be targeted in a similar RfC. This list identifies some of the articles that are vulnerable based on the new guidelines. Approximately 78 of the listed articles are ones that you created back in 2007 and 2008. E.g., Nick Adduci, Jim Avery, Joe Bartos, Ronnie Blye, etc.

The list includes articles I created as well, and it is not intended as criticism of you or anyone else, as such stubs were permitted prior to the change in policy. Instead, the purpose is to encourage each of us to clean up these stubs so as to avoid draftification or deletion. I am hoping that you will revisit these articles to add the required SIGCOV.
