Title Speaks For Self K.O.K Kev (talk) 04:31, 6 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

January 2011

Hi there. It seems you archived your user talk page to 2010/Archive 1 in the main article namespace instead of User talk:K.O.K Kev/2010/Archive 1. I've gone ahead and moved it and tagged the old page/redirect for speedy deletion. Let me know if you have any questions. Cheers. Zachlipton (talk) 04:37, 6 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Page moves

Please don't move pages to odd titles that don't quite follow the naming conventions. Thanks. MikeWazowski (talk) 04:32, 6 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Without any references or better reasons than you posted on my talk page that support your changes, any odd moves like you did earlier will be reverted. FYI. MikeWazowski (talk) 04:38, 6 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Reliably sourced info

When there's something from a reliable source (a source that is indeed trustworthy), it should not be undone. Anything to do with info that does not appear from a reliable source should not be included in an article. They must be from reliable sources. Like that Pokémon: Zoroark: Master of Illusions article for instance. But hey, I learned from that too. -Platinum Lucario (talk) 01:36, 7 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Image tagging for File:Thumb 550 droid-pro.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Thumb 550 droid-pro.jpg. You don't seem to have said where the image came from or who created it. We require this information to verify that the image is legally usable on Wikipedia, and because most image licenses require giving credit to the image's creator.

Fair use rationale for File:Motorola-Droid-2-Global-cell-phone-2.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Motorola-Droid-2-Global-cell-phone-2.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Courcelles 07:27, 8 January 2011 (UTC) [reply]

Block

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 5 days for uploading images without providing proper documentation yet again. Fair warning: this block is the prelude to an indef if you do this again.. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions. If you would like to be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. I didn't know what the fair rationale is or on what images they have to be on. I request to be unblocked so I can fix the errors i commited on those images. I was asked to show an example of how I would fix this, and I provided one K.O.K Kev (talk) 19:25, 8 January 2011 (UTC)

Decline reason:

You still do not understand our image use policy. The image File:Motorola-Droid-2-Global-cell-phone-2.jpg cannot be used under fair use because it is replaceable: a person who owns the device could make a freely licensed photo (WP:FUC#1). Your proposed summary below does not address this problem, and also does not address the matter of minimal resolution (WP:FUC#3).  Sandstein  09:38, 9 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Please convince us that you know now what to do. Post, below, the content that should be at File:Motorola-Droid-2-Global-cell-phone-2.jpg as per our image use policy.  Sandstein  21:06, 8 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Oh.. so basically all the images uploaded can be replaceable. As For low resolution I understand how it's supposed to be done. i modified the example to prove my point. My unblock reason is the same. it is fair use because its a promotional image released by verizon.

K.O.K Kev (talk) 21:46, 9 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It is not fair use...because it's replaceable. It doesn't matter who produced the image ("official verizon" vs some guy on the internet) or why ("promotional image" vs "my own device"). DMacks (talk) 08:19, 10 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

'It's fair use because its a promotional image released by Verizon' does not address the problem. You are taking this as a wide-open permission to use these images in our mobile phone articles, even when you haven't written a Fair Use Rationale. Even I can see that our mobile phone articles contain hardly any promotional photos. I.e. the type of image you want to use is almost never used in mobile phone articles. If you look through Category:Mobile phones you will lots of private photos taken by individual editors. As a practical matter, such images are better than press photos because they can be uploaded to Commons. They can be used in other language Wikipedias to illustrate the phone articles, which Fair Use photos often cannot. You have not shown us yet that you can write a Fair Use Rationale anyway. If you would agree to stop uploading any non-free images (including promotional photos) to Wikipedia for a period of time, say three months, I can imagine this block might be lifted. EdJohnston (talk) 17:21, 10 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I would lift it myself under such an agreement, in fact. Courcelles 17:38, 10 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

I corrected some of my previous statements above. Editor remains indefinitely blocked for abuse of multiple accounts, and should write to unblock-en-l@lists.wikimedia.org for any appeals. The sockmaster now appears to be User:Hunterkok, who is indefinitely blocked as a vandalism-only account. Admins can email me if needed. EdJohnston (talk) 04:44, 12 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image File:VictiniHero.png

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:VictiniHero.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Courcelles 03:59, 16 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
