Dear Professor Appiah,

In the course of doing some general Wikipedia editing (a project to add categories to uncategorized articles), I came across your biography of your mother. I wanted to send my condolences on her passing, and my compliments on the article. I haven't touched it much -- I just reorganized the first two paragraphs to conform to WP style and added a few details from news articles.

I doubt you remember me, but my fiancee (now wife of 21 years) and I were your subtenants in 1983-84 in New Haven. We loved that apartment! It was also there that I first saw, and read, one of your mother's books. We later read those stories to our girls when they were little.
