Sangam[edit]

Regarding the factual validity for the existance of multiple Sangams: Here's the link for the page in the citation (http://books.google.com/books?hl=en&id=4eRx-d821rYC&dq=history+of+south+india+chopra&printsec=frontcover&source=web&ots=qJH6C0YNlf&sig=lchCsoinWUCQ4ATY9O5oxHKSE1k#PPA32,M1) The sentence in the article seems to selectively pick one side of the argument, while in the provided citation, we can see that the authors are more ambivalent about it. I'll think about and rephrase the wording to reflect both sides; let me know if you disagree. core (talk) 01:31, 22 April 2008 (UTC)corecirculator.[reply]

Kumble's Wickets[edit]

My bad, I did not have access to the cricinfo site when I changed that to 604, but Anil Kumble on wiki was and even now is showing 603 wickets, so I changed it here. I will fix the cricketer's page. and I think even on Indian Cricket Team Records page also.DesiStrider (talk) 15:51, 30 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sachin Tendulkar ODI Runs[edit]

I saw that template you have created. It is quite useful, but is there some way we can include Matches and Averages in templates? Because that will make it much easier to update that as well. I have seen time when the matches are not updated, and only runs are. Once everyone gets used to this single point update for runs, the match and average stat will rarely get updated as people anyways forget to update them.DesiStrider (talk) 17:17, 4 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Looks good, I guess you are right about the average. Other than his personal stats, the average (only test) shows up only for the best test average for India and that keeps changing with every match with him and Dravid exchanging ranks. Thanks for creating it.DesiStrider (talk) 16:29, 5 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Kann lit[edit]

It would be nice to add an image caption that includes a famous quote from the modern poets. Gokak's famous statement was "Mother tongue is the language of the state". I dont remember where I read it though.Dineshkannambadi (talk) 18:40, 4 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A question about usage of upper or lower case in English disambiguiation of titles of local literature. Sangoli Rayana dange is "The Revolt of Sangoli Raya", but how about a title which does not contain a proper noun, such as Mudramanjusha (is it "Seal Casket" ot "Seal casket"). My take is I just need to be consistant.Dineshkannambadi (talk) 13:01, 5 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Gandhi Behind the Mask of Divinity[edit]

Hello, you have seen the behavior of anti-Indian users Roadahead and Princhest. I added some well-sourced criticism to Gandhi Behind the Mask of Divinity, but they removed it saying that reviewers need to be credible. My references were respected journals and newspapers.

They're trying to remove one of my sources calling it uncredible, but their own source (Baldev Singh) is uncredible. I've added more sources. I don't visit Wikipedia often, so please keep a watch on Gandhi Behind the Mask of Divinity. --SecularForces (talk) 14:05, 10 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Bollywood images[edit]

Did you make the agreement?. No. Did you have knowledge of the contractor that licences images to Bollywood websites. No. The images were deleted because we couldn't get a reply from the discosed media corporation to 100% confirm that the images can be used freely and to confirm that Bollywood blog were telling the truth that we can use them. The agreement should have been made with the contractor ratyher than the blog which owns many of the TV and film images also but as we unfortunately didn't get a reply from them we had to assume that the Bollywood blog images were not free to use to be on the safe side as the existing agreement had some valid questions about ownership. It will only be a matter of time until another agremeent is made anyway. ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 18:56, 13 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi sorry we always get tied with that ordeal. It doesn't exactly show the best in any of us. Hopefully a new deal can be sorted which doesn't have any of the doubts that the old one had. I can see how Sarvagnya and yourself were suspicious of it and I shouldn't have gone on at you for making what you believed to be th right course of action. Its just I spent a lot of time trying to help wikipedia find something that was legal and valid and it didn't work out which isn't my fault -the Bollywood blog should have been clearer with us from the start.

Anyway I came across the article Dasara which is a bit of a state. (well in condition not an actual State lol). Could you be so kind as to find some references and polish it up a bit. Regards ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 22:04, 17 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sahitya Akademi[edit]

KNM, The fifty Sahitya akademi awards for Kannada is from 1954-2005. I need to know how many were awarded in 2006, 2007 and 2008. I know one was awarded in 2006.I need to update that statement. Also, that citation link is broken.Dineshkannambadi (talk) 15:50, 16 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Do you think this para in the "medieval" section (before Classical period) is needed? I initially though it did, now I get the feel it may not be. Though literature generally refers to writings on conventional material such as palm leaf manuscripts and paper, inscriptions on stone (shilashasana) and copper plates (tamarashasana) and to a lesser extent on gold, silver and even pottery are an important source of history, giving researchers clues about the lifestyle and literary developments. The poetic Atkur inscription of 950 has a sentimental touch while describing the bravery of a Ganga King Butuga and his soldier Manelera, [22] the Kurikyala inscription of 945 immortalizes the achievements of the great Kannada poet Adikavi Pampa, and the Jura (Jabalpur) inscription of King Krishna III (964).............Dineshkannambadi (talk) 18:46, 17 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Did you actually read what I wrote?[edit]

You've now reverted it to a ref that is a "story does not exist" page rather than the actual Roebuck story and the cricinfo commentary says nothing about not shaking hands. Youtube in this case is much more reliable than the two refs given now. And now it jumps aroind from celebrating to interviews to not shaking - it doesn't read at all well, regardless of the content. I dropped out the undo edit summary as the one I put it was clearer as to what I did. So please fix it back up (and as I tried hard to keep it NPOV from my Aussie side - see if you can do likewise from your side), I've already done it once. Request to remove 'REDIRECT'[edit]

Hi KNM. I guess you placed forward for 'Bharatanatya' to 'Bharatanatyam'. The current article on 'Bharatanatyam' is written specific to a state and is not aligned with facts on South Indian Classical Dance, 'Bharatanatya'. Looking at the current format in detail it is not feasible to modify the 'Bharatanatyam' article due to many embedded information specific to a state. Also current photos are repetitive and do not show 'Bhava' an important aspect of 'Bharatanataya'. Therefore a new article on 'Bharatanatya' is needed in the interest of Wikipedia readers. Please remove the 'Forward'. We need to work on a draft for 'Bharatanatya'.ThanksNaadapriya (talk) 06:32, 20 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello KNM, I used a different word 'forward'. I meant '#REDIRECT Bharatanatyam' on Bharatanatya article. Please let me know if it is feasible to remove it.Naadapriya (talk) 15:21, 20 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sachin Tendulkar[edit]

May I know what 'nonsense' that I added to the Sachin Tendulkar page? The most blasphemical and disgusting page on Wikipdia is the one up there. There is a claim made there that he was ranked the 'Best ODI batsman' by Wisden without any citation. In 2002 Wisden ranked the King as the best ODI batsman which he was, is and shall remain; Tendulkar is not worthy of even licking the King's boots. He averages around 26 to 28 against Australia, South Africa, England, etc playing in much easier conditions as in the 90s compared to the 70s and 80s, and against inferior attacks. His centuries in the WC except for the 1996 one against Sri Lanka (made on a very good batting track at home, and one in which Sanath Jayasuriya totally overshadowed him), have come against the 'mighty' attacks of Zimbabwe, Kenya, Namibia etc. I WANT to either see the citation for his being ranked first in ODIs or the claim removed, Period. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Anup Ramakrishnan (talkcontribs) 03:25, 30 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ref. formatting[edit]

KNM, In case you know the isbn's of the references you added to Halmidi inscription, you can use this page to easily generate the wikipedia citation. It doesn't work for all isbns, but when it does, it save a lot of effort. Cheers. Abecedare (talk) 02:02, 17 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The tool produces an entry as follow:
{{cite book |author=Sheldon Pollock |title=The Language of the Gods in the World of Men: Sanskrit, Culture, and Power in Premodern India (Philip E. Lilienthal Books) |publisher=University of California Press |location=Berkeley |year=2006 |pages= |isbn=0-520-24500-8 |oclc= |doi=}}
Adding a quote will just mean adding a "|quote= ..." field to the pre-formatted citation.

Hi!KNM There was a short article on Halegannda, posted in Feb 2008 by another user, which was suggested to be deleted or adequately enlarged and referenced.

Since Halegnnada has a crucial bearing on the issue of declaring Kannada as a Classsical Language (there are extensive debates on this issue on web sites (some debates are quite offensive in the use of langauage), I thought of spending some time on this Article.I have totally changed the text, referenced it with wikipages on Karnataka history and archelogy and illustrated it with pictures from wikimedia. Recent changes to articles and abuse by Special:Contributions/218.248.1.194[edit]

Please consider this note a head's-up on a recent spate of articles changes and abusive talk page remarks by an apparent single-purpose IP account Special:Contributions/218.248.1.194 to Kannada-related articles. Those abused in the remarks include User:Dineshkannambadi, User:Sarvagnya, User:KNM, and User:Amarrg, per [1]. Additional abusive remarks and edit summaries directed to Dineshkannambadi are to be found in the IP's history log.

While I can revert the abusive talk page remarks, the IP's contribution history also shows a string of changes to multiple Indian history articles. Given the circumstances, it appears that these changes are of questionable merit. Unfortunately, I am not qualified on the topic content to determine if any of the other changes are correct. Accordingly, I am posting to the talk pages of the editors referenced by the IP so that you can collectively or individually take any actions on the changed articles, talk pages, or the IP account that you think appropriate. -- Michael Devore (talk) 03:18, 20 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
