Hi, yes, I understood. Am I allowed to disagree? :-) I think it is a difficult one, as the sources are explanations of what we see in the film. ie, we actually see the lead guitar and chugging rhythm guitar in the film - it is there for our eyes so doesn't need a source to say there is a lead guitar and rhythm guitar. What the source explains is the significance of that in real-world musical history. Very much as we see the book title, and then its real world history is given (unsourced), and the symbolism explained is just someones interpretation. (I very very much appreciate your help on this and no longer think you're angry! and yes, I'm already feeling myself getting hooked into this. Thanks for this welcome page - I read the info on sources though its like a rabbits warren once you start reading the information and guidance isn't it!)

A labyrinth is an understatement. I understand your point about seeing the band in the film, but you're asserting far more than just what you can see - you're making many, many connections, to the film and to the people playing. The sources you cited would be helpful as background, but you have to find something else that makes that initial connection (as well as supporting anything else you say about people).--Bbb23 (talk) 00:23, 11 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I don't believe I am asserting more than we can see? I'm stating that there is a lead guitar and a chugging rhythm guitar - you can physically see the rhythm guitar hand going up and down, and you can hear a rhythm and lead on the audio of the film, so its not an assertion, it is what it is and our eyes and ears are evidence of it. You don't need to be a musician to recognise it is clearly what we know as rhythm and lead. We are told through the credits that it is Django, and therefore if it is Django with a fiddle player and a chugging rhythm guitarist in early 1930s paris. the it can only be Quintette De Cafe De France. The link is the fact that Django is credited. The sources then give the background to what we are seeing.
