Song Lyrics[edit]

Hello Teke,

I was not aware that song lyrics could not be tagged to articles. Thanks for the info! Rangermike 14:06, 4 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Isaac Bear[edit]

Hey I was blocked from editing this page due to "vandilism". While I do admit I asked people too refrain from editing the page (asked, and nicely), I have vandalized the page. I'm a student at the school, every word I put on the has been helpful and true. Not to be mean or anything, but I would greatly appreciate a reason for IP blocking me. Maybe you have something I didn't see, but, as far as I can tell, I have not done anything to deserve this. Dinjaga 16:18, 4 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Why was Earth Point deleted?[edit]

Hello,

Could you help me fix the Earth Point article? I worked very hard to make sure it followed the guidelines.

According to #11 for rapid deletion,

Pages which exclusively promote a company, product, group or service and which would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Note that simply having a company, product, group or service as its subject does not qualify an article for this criterion.

I think the Earth Point article fairly described the web site and its features without fanfare or self-promotion. However, please let me know what changes would need to be made.

Thanks, Bill Clark www.earthpoint.us

DoD TechMatch deleted[edit]

I am curious why DoD TechMatch was deleted. DoD TechMatch is a government funded web portal that provides knowledge for industry and academia. It has appeared in journals and magazines and has one awards from federal consortiums. Mpizzuto 19:34, 4 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Earth Point again[edit]

Hello,

I saw your message, but I do not know the mechanism for replying to it.

So I hope this method is ok.

I think Earth Point meets the basic criteria because several articles have been independently published in

  1. The Idaho Statesman - a metropolitan newspaper,
  2. Inman News - a leading trade journal,
  3. Google Earth Blog - the definitive blog for Google Earth, and
  4. Google Maps Mania - the definitive blog for Google Maps.

These are listed in the references section of the article.

Thanks,

Earth Point on deletion review[edit]

An editor has asked for a deletion review of Earth Point. Since you closed the deletion discussion for (or speedy-deleted) this article, you might want to participate in the deletion review. Owyheerover 21:28, 4 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Uknewthat[edit]

Hi. I just noticed that you deleted the User:Uknewthat page. That user was involved in a lengthy revert war back in September/October on the Global Positioning System and Hafele-Keating experiment articles. His actions resulted in him getting blocked several times for disruption, 3RR, OR, Sockpuppetry, and POV reverting. There was an RfC started regarding his behavior. Eventually, he went off on an anti-semitic rant on his talk page and he was indefinitely blocked. I believe his talk page was deleted in order to remove the offensive material.

He hasn't resurfaced yet, but I suspect he may try to come back under a different name. It may be useful to preserve the edit history of User:Uknewthat in case sockpuppets show up again anywhere else. I'm not entirely familiar with this sort of policy, but I wanted to bring it to your attention. That particular user is not welcome back here under any name. Thanks. - Justin (Authalic) 04:48, 5 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi again. Here is the final AN/I discussion on this user's indefinite block:
Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard/IncidentArchive145#Uknewthat_again.
I was concerned that his contribs were deleted when his user page was removed, but I see now that they are still available for future reference. If there is any way to prevent this name from being used again, by this user or someone else, it would be helpful. I'm not an Admin, and I don't know if I can add the banned template. I will if I can. The relevant diffs which led to the indefinite block are all listed in that AN/I discussion. Thanks again. - Justin (Authalic) 05:13, 5 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Greek Life Template 2.0[edit]

OK, I've added ratings and ranking to the proposed template for Fraternities and Sororities, with the requirements to be found on the appropriate page. We're waiting on a transparent picture; is there anything else to be done to this template? I'd like to give it another week or so before making it an official template. Just leave some comments on the template talk page for the template. —ScouterSig 02:05, 10 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello from Earth Point[edit]

Hi,

I am not sure where things stand. If I understand correctly, the article was originally deleted for reasons of notability. See User_talk:Owyheerover However, once the deletion review started Wikipedia:Deletion_review#Earth_Point, several participants stated that the topic would be notable if the blog references are removed.

There were several comments about ensuring NPOV, however, I was unable to learn if the article actually has POV issues or not. The conversation died away, and was archived without further discussion or comment.

What do you think? Are there POV issues with the article? I am going all over the Hewlett-Packard and the Sketchup articles for guidance, and I think the Earth Point article is balanced in comparison.

Would it be possible to repost the article, perhaps in abbreviated form, in order to shape it through some sort of discussion on the talk pages?

What do you think?

Thanks, Bill Clark

Hi, I'm not sure what happened but your last edit to the main page FA did not seem to remove any vandalism. In fact it deleted considerable content including the House of lancaster and Awards sections. I hope I was right to go back to the last version by AntiVandalBot. If not, my apologies. David Richard John Ward[edit]

Firstly thank you for your message I'm guessing your pretty busy, so the time taken to write that message is appreciated. There appears to be a misunderstanding, I am not David Ward as your message suggests - although I can understand why you might believe so as my username is 'Darklightdave'. I can't remember if I entered any personal information when I registered, but if you check it will confirm my name is David Read. The identical first name is coincidental, and in this case a nuisance! I respect your choice to delete the entry however. I will take some time to write in more detail about his Linux campaign and then resubmit the entry.

Canadian folklorist block[edit]

Teke: Thanks very much for your support and help on ANI last night. I was concerned I had made a serious mistake, but it looks like everything turned out okay, though I'm still not 100% sure what was going on. I guess it's not often that in the middle of a discussion right now, the person under review admits that you rightly called them out, as happened here, though I would have been spared some stress had it happened an hour earlier. Thanks Teke[edit]

Thanks for your comment. Wikipedia is an incredible place. I previously, as 65.102.74.229, added to the list of dams on the Snake River, Idaho. While this is a small thing, it is amazing when you consider how each small contribution can add up to something great. I will try to make the best contributions where I can. Thanks again. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Owyheerover (talkcontribs)

Elgg Page Deletion[edit]

I think that you incorrectly deleted the Elgg (software) page. I'm not the writer of the deleted page, but an academic using it in my research. I am in no way affiliated with Curverider (company supporting Elgg). Elgg is being used in a variety of universities, such as http://claremontconversation.org (Claremont Graduate University), http://elgg.leeds.ac.uk/ (Leeds), and community.brighton.ac.uk/ (Brighton). Elgg has been reported in a number of different periodicals (http://education.guardian.co.uk/elearning/story/0,,1724614,00.html, and http://blogs.zdnet.com/social/?p=17) as a cutting-edge open-source social networking software. Anyway, I really think that the page should be put back. Profgarrett 18:47, 22 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Teke, thanks for following up on my userpage. I'll go ahead and rewrite the article to conform to the software standards you were kind enough to put on my page. Profgarrett 23:27, 22 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Deleting copyvio revisions from Salvatore Quasimodo[edit]

I think you might want to lop off a little more from the history of Salvatore Quasimodo. The way it looks now suggests that innocent User:Goudzovski added the copyvio (with the weird summary of "disambig"). [1] For completeness' sake, just delete the versions from after User:BraneJ's, right up to the one before your revert? :-) Flyingtoaster1337 09:38, 25 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Page moves[edit]

Don't worry about the Chinese comments, Teke. I know you're doing the right thing. However, someone also deleted my userpage after you, and I think it was Niohe. Pearl Harbor vandalism[edit]

Teke, you reverted the Pearl Harbor article to an earlier vandalized version thereby reintroducing a foul word into the text. The article was hit by multiple pranksters today and I believe it's back to a "clean" version now. Cheers, HJ 22:05, 29 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

wikilobbyist[edit]

Out of curiousity, why was the wikilobbyist page speedy deleted? I did not see the page so I suppose it could have been patent nonsense, but if an attempt to seriously describe the term was made, shouldn't the normal deletion process be used? I understand that there would be issues anyways regarding it being a neologism, but that is not a criterion for speed deletes. Countmippipopolous 05:34, 30 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Notability and Speedy Deletion[edit]

I see you've speedily-deleted the Matt and Kim page when I went there looking for information on them (which wikipedia is usually reliable for until people got sticks up their arses about what deserves to be on here or not) and your reasoning linked to a page that said "Failing to satisfy the notability guidelines is not a criterion for speedy deletion." Now, maybe, it didn't meet the guideline of needing "to claim that the subject of the article is notable," so in that case, would it be fine by you if I started the article again with these things or are you just going to toss it aside?

Remember, "the failure to meet any of these criteria does not mean an article must be deleted." --Nathew 02:04, 31 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
