To all of you who link here after finding my delete tag on your pages

Please leave your comments here. Also, if you have a problem with my delete tag policy, email me at amikekia_87 at yahoo.com. Thanks! User:Keilana 22:56, 4 May 2007 (UTC)

Have you thought about using the Special:Emailuser/Keilana link instead of giving out your email address? Just wondering... --Martian.knight 23:51, 4 May 2007 (UTC)

Just wondering why you removed the Template:Tv-stub from The Book Group? I am a fairly new editor, so am not entirely sure about things, but the page still looks like a stub to me. Thanks! --Martian.knight 23:49, 4 May 2007 (UTC)

I am not entirely sure about the stub policy, although maybe you might like a read if you are in that line of work and haven't already. I agree with both your points, but I have been in a habit of leaving tags in place if the article is fairly small. Don't take my word on these things though, and if you do find things out, please let me know. BTW, I was jsut wondering how you signed your signature so as not to have it link? Have you told it to input raw without any code? If you have any other questions feel free to ask. --Martian.knight 23:57, 4 May 2007 (UTC)
  • I can help you with your Signature, and you can either have it do the default link or you can make it colourful and all sorts of things. However it would be easier to use a IM program if you have one. Seeing as you have a yahoo email address, if you have yahoo messenger my addy is martian.knight at yahoo.com, and if you use MSN i am martian.knight at gmail.com. What you may want to do for now is check in your preferences that you have not checked the "dispay raw signature button."
  • About the stubs and things, I have not done much Mainspace article editing besides reverting vandalism, so I can't help you with the tag for now.
  • I am happy to help however I can.
  • No I am not a part of stubsensor, although now you have brought it to my attention I may consider looking into it further.

Hello, and about stuff

Hello Keilana, Thank you for contributing to the stubsensor project. I have some advice for you.

I noticed you are not using edit summaries when destubbing articles. You should try to use edit summaries for all edits in articlespace. It can just be something simple like 'destubbed'. Edit summaries show up in people's watchlists, so it makes it easier for interested people to see what you did, and they also show in the aricle history, so it makes the article history easier to understand. Using edit summaries is especially important if you want to be an admin, because people will vote against you in an WP:RFA if you don't use them almost all the time.

Another thing: I notice you have written your e-mail adress on this page. You really should not do that, there are automated programs (bots) who go through the internet looking for email-adresses to add to spam lists. You are making your e-mail adress a big target for spam by posting it like that. By using http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Emailuser/Keilana people can still email you, without actually knowing your email adress (unless you reply), so that protects you from spam, because spammers won't be using that kind of form.

I notice you're looking for 'adoption'. I'm not sure what you're looking for exactly, but if you have questions you can always ask me. I've been around here for a few years and I have a decent understanding of how things work. S Sepp 11:32, 5 May 2007 (UTC)

One more thing, leave messages to other users on their talk page, not their user page :). I only found out you had replied through my watchlist, as there is no 'new message' indicator for the user page. S Sepp 20:57, 5 May 2007 (UTC)

Hello Nerani, please DO NOT make any changes on the article of Grijalva Elementary School. Thank You. --Jorge 21:23, 28 May 2007 (UTC)

Please note that Jorge here has no authority to prohibited you from editing anything, you just go right ahead. (H) 14:53, 2 June 2007 (UTC)

destubbing articles

Hi, I'm Keilana, and I just joined stubsensor a few days ago; I have finished 3 sections so far. I just have 1 question. If there is an article, say, about a train station closed in the 1950s, and there is one long-ish paragraph, and a ton of charts, is that considered a stub? Also, if there is an article about an obscure football/soccer team that has 1 medium paragraph and a ton of charts, is that a stub? What should I do in those situations? Please leave a not on my talk page, and thanks for helping Wikipedia, aka the greatest repository for humand knowledge and graffitti. Thanks! Keilana 22:27, 6 May 2007 (UTC)

Hi Keilana, thanks for helping. :-) In the two articles you have described, I leave them as stubs. When evaluating the stubness of an article, I personally disregard everything but the article text. Charts, tables, and the like are ignored by me and I focus solely on the article prose. If the article is not at least a few solid paragraphs, I leave the article alone. I hope that has helped you. Please feel free to let me know if you have any other questions. Triddle 16:22, 7 May 2007 (UTC)

Talk Page

You shouldn't remove content from your talk page. However, if it gets too long, you can archive it. - BANG! 01:34, 8 May 2007 (UTC)

I was wondering

about the {{npov}} tag that you placed on J. Massey Rhind which suggests that there is an issue and refered me to the talk page where I expected to discover what the deal was. So . . . . . . . . ...... what's the deal? Carptrash 15:53, 9 May 2007 (UTC)

Actually, I was sort of hoping that there WAS some controversy or something involving JMR - it might liven the article up a bit. Carptrash 22:06, 10 May 2007 (UTC)

Welcome to Wikipedia! I noticed you recently tagged this article with a speedy delete tag, unsure of whether it met the speedy delete criteria. To clarify, the article did not actually meet any of the speedy delete criteria. (I did, however, delete it per WP:SNOW as it would have unquestionably not survived an AfD debate.) However I invite you to take a look at some of our other deletion processes: proposed deletion (PROD) and articles for deletion (AfD). PROD in particular is the proper outlet for cases like this: relatively uncontroversial unencyclopedic content that does not fall under CSD criteria. Thanks and good luck! Geo-Coordinates

{{helpme}}

This is a question I posted at the help desk, and I thought I might have a better chance at an answer if I posted here too. I'm working on the Wikiproject to add geo-coordinates to articles lacking them, and I can't figure out for the life of me how to get that little thing in the upper right hand corner that says "Coordinates: _____" Can you help? Thanks,Keilana 14:06, 12 May 2007 (UTC)

See Template:Coord for instructions. --ais523 14:11, 12 May 2007 (UTC)

Next stubsensor

I was wondering if you know when there will be another batch of articles for Stubsensor. Thanks! Keilana 15:46, 13 May 2007 (UTC)

Hello again, the next stubsensor will be after the next database dump, which should be in a few weeks time. I'm glad you enjoy the project and I sincerely appreciate all the time and energy you have spent. Thank you! Triddle 15:32, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for you welcome message

Vandalism to your userpage

You know, it's OK to wipe out vandalism to your userpage or talk page yourself. On the other hand, an official warning from somebody else can stop a small-time vandal in their tracks, which seems to have happened here (I hope). Rmasbury 01:58, 3 June 2007 (UTC)

Sorry

I was going to revert that edit to your userpage, but I didn't take it as vandalism. Sorry. ): Cheers, JetLover -- Talk to me! 02:07, 3 June 2007 (UTC)

Editor review questions

Hello, thank you for doing my editor review. I really apreciate your feedback; I hope you don't mind a couple of questions... First of all, why would people oppose an RfA if the person simply wanted to be an admin? That would be the whole reason for going to RfA in my opinion. Would it be a problem later on down the road for me to have an un-neutral userpage, or would people judge by number/quality of edits? Thank you so much for your time and help. I really appreciate the advice/comments. Peace, Keilana 09:02, 20 June 2007 (UTC)

Your welcome! I would be glad to answer your questions as best as I can. See oppose 16, Oppose 4.5 (removed) and oppose 10 and this. For some odd reason (I don't agree with it) many editors do not trust, or weigh people who "want" to become admins with the same weight as those who are simply nominated by chance. If that explains it, it's hard to get a grasp on it, (spending time at RfA and learning about the process might help). Many editors look at edit count, however, many editors feel that editcountitis should be avoided at all cost. While many will look at the quality of your edits, but many will be uncomfortable with an editor who shows their beliefs in their editing (not saying you do). I would remove some particularly "controversial" userboxes, particularly the one with the flag burning. It's not to say that I don't agree with it (I won't say if I do or don't) but rather that some users feel that an editor that shows neutrality in their userpage will automatically put POV in their edits, regardless of if they remotely show any trace of POV. If you do plan on becoming an admin, please dive into the experience at RfA. Moreover, here is your reading homework for tonight: advice. I hope this has helped you, and if you have any more questions, please do not hesitate to continue this conversation. Wishes, wpktsfs 15:58, 20 June 2007 (UTC)

Thanks so much for answering all of my questions; I have one more. You don't have to answer unless you want to, I hope I'm not taking too much of your time. When do you think I could enter RfA? (Either in terms of time or achievements.) Oh yes, and how did you get that little Editr Review box at the top of your talk page? By the way, I did read the discussion you marked as advice. People made some very interesting points... I probably should take down the particularly controversial userboxes. Again, thank you for your time, and very helpful advice. Cheers, Keilana 13:04, 22 June 2007 (UTC)

I am always open for questions. There is no set time or magic number to enter an RfA, however, for whatever reason, many newcomer RfAs get beat down. If you are interested in becoming an admin, I would suggest you keep making edits in the mainspace and check this out. Currently, I do not advise you to put yourself up for RfA, just my opinion, however, the future does look bright, and I think you should continue your work here. Also, {{Editor review|user name}} is the code for the template.--wpktsfs 22:07, 22 June 2007 (UTC)

Stubsensor

Hi Keilana,

To be honest, I don't know when the next stubsensor is going to be. The only way I can do a stubsensor run is to get the full machine readable copies of the english wikipedia - I just checked the website that should have them (they are generated every few weeks) and instead of the dumps being available, there is some terse error message saying they are not available. It's been like that for a while now. In addition, if I don't catch the dump soon enough after it is done, the text in some articles changes too much to make the output of my program really useful. So I try to remember to check the dump website every few days (I really need to re-write the program that sent me an email every time a new dump became available) and hopefully I'll be able to do another stubsensor cleanup project in the next few weeks. I'll leave a note on your talk page when it's up. Thanks for the interest, I'm glad people enjoy stubsensor as much as I enjoyed creating it. :-) Triddle 10:36, 29 June 2007 (UTC)

Cookie & San Jose request

Thanks for the cookie, and good wishes. Would you consider helping out in adding specific, detailed references for either San Jose or Martha_Nussbaum? While the good wishes are nice, specific actual work is even better. :-) JesseW, the juggling janitor 18:11, 29 June 2007 (UTC)

Just going through the San Jose article (or a section of it), and making sure that each factual statement (e.g. dates, numbers, awards won, etc.) has a footnote linking it to a specific source that verifies it. And putting the sources in full template form would also be nice. Let me know if you need more specific instructions. JesseW, the juggling janitor 22:30, 29 June 2007 (UTC)

Hello

"Demographical"

Greetings!

I noticed you replaced "demographical" with "demographic" in Brazil's page.

"...population density is low and the inner continental land has large demographic empty spaces".

I'm fine with the change, but you claim it's a grammatical error. Why?

Sparks1979 15:51, 30 June 2007 (UTC)

By the way, I like your userboxes!

Sparks1979 15:57, 30 June 2007 (UTC)

I checked the word in Webster’s New Twentieth Century Dictionary (Second Edition, 1970), which is the only large English dictionary I have at home at the moment. It doesn’t register “demographical”.
In the other hand, I went on to "Dictionary.com" to see if I could find the word in online sources. Apparently at least two dictionaries accept the existence of “demographical”:
  • The American Heritage® Dictionary of the English Language, Fourth Edition. Copyright © 2006 by Houghton Mifflin Company. Published by Houghton Mifflin Company. All rights reserved.
  • Random House Unabridged Dictionary, © Random House, Inc. 2006.
Perhaps “demographical” is an obscure form of the more common adjective “demographic”? This seems like an interesting case. When you have the time, try to look it up at a local library. Unfortunately I currently live in a non-English speaking country and my access to English dictionaries is limited.
