I submitted an article about the 1712 Fox Indian Massacre in Grosse Pointe Park, MI. It came directly from the Michigan historical marker that is on the site, and I am sure they would be happy to have that information available and not at all concerned about this use. I seriously doubt that it is copyrighted. An alternative approach would be for me to take a photo of the historical marker for you to post on Wikipedia. My posting was removed because of concerns over copyright infringement.
On another subject, I'm looking at the Animal phyla section of this article Phylum and many of the links associated with it. For each group, Wikipedia gives the temporal range, such as Cambrian to Recent. In geology, when we speak of part of a part of a period we use early, middle, or late, but when we are talking about the strata we use lower, middle, or upper. Since these articles are giving TEMPORAL range, they should never use lower or upper.
One other thing, I'm a retired geology professor, and am working on a book about Michigan geology. In conducting my research, I discovered that your article on Grypania had a commonly-used out-of-date date, and submitted a more recent age of 1874 Ma, but that was rejected. The discovery site of Grypania was in the Negaunee Iron Formation. Schneider, et al, 2002, Age of volcanic rocks and syndepositional iron formations, Marquette Range Supergroup: implications for the tectonic setting of Paleoproterozoic iron formations of the Lake Superior region. Can. J. Earth Sci.39: 999–1012, states "Our age of 1874±9 Ma for the Hemlock Formation is analytically indistinguishable from the Gunflint age, and shows that ironbearing sequences at opposite ends of the Penokean foreland are essentially coeval within analytical uncertainty.
"The stratigraphic position of the Hemlock Formation is central to our interpretation that the 1874 Ma age dates the deposition of the major iron formations in northern Michigan."
I've made numerous small corrections on various articles, but don't know how to do some of the necessary things to enter certain things correctly. I'm sorry.

In the matatu article is this statement: "As of 1999 they were the only form of public transport available in Nairobi, Kenya, although in 2006 and 2008 this was no longer the case." I spent four months in Nairobi at the end of 2000, and they had a fine city bus system operating in August, 2000, well before 2006. Kenvandellen (talk)

The "KETTLE (LANDFORM) article states, "...outwash plain formed by retreating glaciers..." It would be better to say, "outwash plain formed by a retreating (or receding) ice front...." Glaciers do not retreat; they flow forward and melt back. There is no reverse gear.
- I'm going to attempt to address the "how to edit" issues as best I can and for much of the rest direct you discuss content issues on the talk pages of the corresponding articles.
- First, there is no sign that your account is blocked. You may have gotten the impression of a block if you tried to edit while logged out and your IP is marked for a block, but an unblock request on your account won't help with that.
- Second, several of the issues you bring up are content issues. To address them, you can either be BOLD and make the changes or you can start a discussion on the associated talk page(s) of the article (or, in some cases, on the talk page of the associated WikiProject) to see if other editors agree with your changes. In your discussions, you should always try to provide a published source that supports your position on the changes. I'm afraid that your own authority will not be accepted. There's an essay about this at expert editors that you may want to look at. We are not trying to disrespect your authority, simple to keep all edits on the level playing field of being based on published sources.
- The copyright status of roadside (and other) historical markers is complicated and I would not assume anything about the status without checking things out. There is at least one discussion about this topic: WT:Copyrights/Archive 13#Copyright status: historical marker text.
- I'm sure there is a lot you can bring to Wikipedia and I hope you'll deal with some of the initial frustrations that you encounter. It's probably different from other sorts of writing you've done before and you will be asked to adjust to the conventions the community has come up with, even when some things don't seem entirely logical or consistent at first. Some of these things may make more sense with experience; some of them are just the way they are because the community consensus process has not gone on long enough yet. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 02:26, 25 August 2021 (UTC)
