July 2007[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although we invite everyone to contribute constructively to our encyclopedia, at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to KiaraFan13's Biography, was not constructive and has been reverted or removed. Please use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. This sort of info. is kept on "user pages" . Maybe you would like to create a page with a name like User:KiaraFan13/Biography. If that's the page you want you can do that clicking the name of the page User:Barlinerchat 23:28, 20 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on User:KiaraFan13/Biography, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. TomStar81 (Talk) 23:47, 20 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Apology[edit]

I owe you an apology; I spotted the other page you had created and without thinking about it tagged User:KiaraFan13/Biography as a page to be deleted on the assumption that it was a page created for the purpose of storing deleted material. Having looked over the page I see now that this is in fact a User page, and information of this nature is permitted on User Pages. As this is technically a User subpage (a spin off from the main user page), I would suggest that you place the material on you userpage for other editers here to see. You may do this either by copying and pasting the material to the page User:KiaraFan13, or by transcluding your subpage to your userpage by adding {{User:KiaraFan13/Biography}} to the page User:KiaraFan13. Again, I apologize for my hasty tagging of your page (I am kind of new to deletion tagging). In the future I will take better care in reading the page names beofre tagging articles for deletion. Userboxes[edit]

You can find a basic guide to userboxes at the page Wikipedia:Userboxes, and you can always ask questions at the refernce desk should you need help. TomStar81 (Talk) 22:05, 21 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You can find userboxes and there display codes at User:Disavian/Userboxes, there is a template at the bottom with addition pages containing userboxes. To place these any userbox on you userpage copy the source code in its entirety and paste it in your usersapce. For example, copying and pasting {{User:Disavian/Userboxes/Earthling2}} will produce the following userbox. TomStar81 (Talk) 22:34, 21 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
This user's homeworld is mostly harmless.
A content table will occur automatically when you have four or more section headers (==These things (including the equal signs)==). As for name and birth date, try {{User (your name here)}} and either {{User current age|day=birthday|month=birth month|year=birth year}} or {{user age|your age here}}. TomStar81 (Talk) 22:54, 21 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Your welcome. TomStar81 (Talk) 00:01, 22 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Help[edit]

Which table do you need help with? TomStar81 (Talk) 20:17, 23 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Here is the basic syntax for the infobox. More information on the fields for this particular box can be found at infobox actor. TomStar81 (Talk) 22:59, 23 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Website(your homepage, if you have one)

Infoboxes like this are considered apropriet for use on userpages. You can learn more about your user page and what can/can not have on it at WP:USERPAGE, if youl like. Otherwise, it looks good. Keep up the good work! TomStar81 (Talk) 23:15, 23 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Contents[edit]

Do mean something like the content box at the top of this page? TomStar81 (Talk) 04:24, 26 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Those appear automatically when you have four or more section headers. You can create section headers by typing two equal signs, then adding text, then closing with another two equal signs. You can use your talk page as an example of how to create a contents box: every section here has a descriptive header, and each header apears in you contents box. TomStar81 (Talk) 19:33, 26 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I went ahead and editid you User page to get the box up. Apperently, User boxs effect the placement of the box, so the section headers had to come before those. You may change the layout if you wish. Hope that helps. TomStar81 (Talk) 04:26, 27 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I played a little with your usepage to get things organized. You need to leave the line with the sections headers blank to create the big the line and the content box. Otherwise, feel free to reconfigue the layout as you see fit :) TomStar81 (Talk) 19:56, 27 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Page Creation[edit]

You can create any page you want, provided it doesn't already exist. Exercise caution when creating new articles though; many new articles come across as "unencylopedic" at first glance and as a result end up with speedy deletion tags. If you do create a new article make sure you include some reference to back up what you have written. If you would like to try your hand at creating new articles you can visit one of the various wikiprojects here in the encyclopedia, they usually have a list of articles they need created. TomStar81 (Talk) 20:27, 27 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • You can do that, provided the article has some outside sourcing. If the article is short though there is a chance that it will end up getting merged into the Brandy & Mr. Whiskers article as a subsection. TomStar81 (Talk) 20:34, 27 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Question[edit]

WHO EDITED MY PAGE?! KiaraFan13 18:33, 5 August 2007 (UTC)KiaraFan13[reply]

The article Mary (video) has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done because the article seemed to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it did not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert notability may be deleted at any time. If you can indicate why the subject is really notable, you are free to re-create the article, making sure to cite any verifiable sources.

Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and for specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for musicians, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. MastCell Talk 22:28, 6 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Notability[edit]

I'm sorry, but things generally have to pass a notability test to be written about on Wikipedia. Generally, this means that they've been WP:BIO covered in a meaningful manner by reliable outside sources (e.g. newspaper articles and the like). Wikipedia is not MySpace, and articles that don't meet the notability criteria usually get deleted. MastCell Talk 22:31, 6 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey ![edit]

Hello !

I've reverted your last edit on May_7#Births. The reason of this was written in commentary of the section you edited :

<!-- Please do not add yourself, non-notable people, fictional characters, or people without Wikipedia articles to this list. No red links, please. Do not link multiple occurrences of the same year, just link the first occurrence. If there are multiple people in the same birth year, put them in alphabetical order. Do not trust "this year in history" websites for accurate date information. -->

I see you're pretty new here, please ask if you have questions :)

NicDumZ ~ 18:09, 7 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, sorry, but same goes for 1994 (your edit); I hope you understand. Thanks ;) NicDumZ ~ 18:10, 7 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Also, I just saw this : [1] . If you have sources that she was not born in Butler, please, do not hesitate, change it in the article ! NicDumZ ~ 18:12, 7 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What kind of article ?[edit]

Well, I'd suggest you (but it's only what I think) not to create an article now. Why ? Well, you need to get used to wikipedia, to our policies, wiki syntax, the tone in use here, etc, etc... I'd suggest you first to search for an article about a subject you're interested in. Edit it to learn about the syntax in use here, read it carefully to find any errors to correct /impurities to get rid of. If the subject is well known, the article is likely to be complex and/or complete, and unlikely to have errors in it, but you will still learn from the syntax and our policies.

Then, navigating from an article to another, you'll eventually find a stub, a new article that'll need improvements.

If you want me to, I can take a particular look at your contribs, and help you at the beginning, watch for your possible errors, suggest you what you do, etc... What do you think ? NicDumZ ~ 18:40, 7 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hiya![edit]

Sorry to have not dropped a message here sooner; I have, as you surmised, been busy. Your retooled userpage looks nice. I would stay to talk more, but they are closing the library and throwing me out as I speak :) TomStar81 (Talk) 04:56, 19 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello[edit]

Please do not tell people where you live. I have removed that information from your user page, and deleted the history. This is for your own protection. If you have any questions about being safe on the internet, you should check with your parents. Thank you. --Jeffrey O. Gustafson - Shazaam! - <*> 04:28, 13 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Your Message[edit]

Sorry to hear that you are not in a good mood. I, too, am in a lousy mood; I am failing almost all my class and will be cut back on my time even more till my grades improve. TomStar81 (Talk) 20:28, 15 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Hello[edit]

Hiya. I am glad to here you are getting set to graduate. I am in the process of doing the hustle in preperation for collage finals, so I can not talk long, but I wish you luck and hope to see you back on here soon. TomStar81 (Talk) 04:57, 30 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:MirandaMelnick.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:MirandaMelnick.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 18:05, 29 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
