This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of James Gustafson, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.pitts.emory.edu/Archives/text/mss256.html. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. (If you own the copyright to the previously published content and wish to donate it, see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for the procedure.)

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. bio[edit]

As one of the people here most experienced in academic articles, I've accepted the bio of Northcott. I made some changes to fit our style:

First, and most important, I've removed the section on his students, which is not really appropriate and was in any case copied from his web site--which is of course not permitted. If any of his students are notable enough for an article, then they should be listed and articles written on them.

Second, I revised the reviews listing into one of our usual styles, which is more compact -- the other style is to add them as references -- somebody might change them, but it isn't necessary

Third, I changed the wording of bio paragraph not because there was anything intrinsically wrong there, but as a precaution in case it has also been copied somewhere.

Fourth, I made various copyedits. We normally for academics do not include minor publications in the bio; I've left the book chapters, which we do not always do because some seem really important, and I left most of the others listed there because I'm not sure that they might not be peer-reviewed articles, & I didn't want to check. The external links to his online works belong on his website, not here; I left what I thought was a key one.

If you should be interested in adding similar articles, all the publications really necessary are the books and the major reviews of them. For someone whose work is mainly articles, we often list the 5 most important , as shown by citations to them. DGG ( talk ) 23:30, 9 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
