Tim De Groot[edit]

A tag has been placed on Tim De Groot, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

Vanity

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add hangon on the top of the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Sydney Know It Alltalk 05:33, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Although Tim De Groot is not a Nationally know person, in the Grand Rapids area, he is quite well known. Personal friends of at least three others who are also listed under the same heading. Anyone searching from the Grand Rapids area would immediately recognize him. He attended the Kendall School of Art and Design with Maynard James Keenan and yet, Maynard still refuses to acknowledge that he ever came from Grand Rapids, still he's listed. This is by no means a vanity article. He belongs on the list.—Preceding unsigned comment added by {} (talk • contribs) 05:19, 30 December 2007 KingSethos

The band names are provided in essence to help explain the significance of why Tim De Groot is listed, not for vanity purposes. —Preceding unsigned comment added by KingSethos (talkcontribs) 05:22, 30 December 2007

Tim De Groot[edit]

Hi KingSethos. Please read Wikipedia's guidelines on notability generally and on people specifically. In particular, note that relationships do not transfer notability. If Mr. De Groot is as notable as you say, you should be able to find significant published converage of him by independent, reliable sources. If so, please recreate the article with references to those sources. Thanks! Jfire (talk) 18:47, 31 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You may want to look at Wikipedia's biography guidelines and Wikipedia's music notability guidelines. The article did not assert the subject's notability. Thanks. Keilanatalk(recall) 15:27, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Repeated addition of Tim De Groot to the Grand Rapids article[edit]

Tim De Groot is not notable. Therefore he should not be listed in the notable persons section of the Grand Rapids article. You have repeatedly reverted the removal of him: [1], [2], and [3]. Please stop doing this, and engage in discussion on the talk page before reverting this removal again, or you may find your editing privs rescinded. Also, we use bottom posting here, when you comment on something in a particular thread, it should be posted at the bottom of that section, not the top. Your comment to Jfire [4] was placed in the wrong place... it helps to keep things threaded if you reply at the bottom of pages. Thanks. ++Lar: t/c 14:35, 16 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

PS, please also remember to sign your talk page postings with ~~~~... thanks. I have fixed up your ordering and signed for you on the two posts you did here. ++Lar: t/c 14:47, 16 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
