Indic script[edit]

Hi Regarding Indic script can you point me through were it was discussed about including indic scritps ? --Shrikanthv (talk) 12:13, 4 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Shrikanthv: Hi, WP:INDICSCRIPT says that this policy applies to articles that are under WikiProject India only, however, many editors are getting confused and are removing scripts from religious articles and articles related to other countries like Bangladesh. Sanskrit is the langauge in which the Vedas, Puranas and Upanishads, the primary texts of Hinduism, are written. Hence it was a general consensus without discussion to use Devanagari script in Hinduism articles which was agreed upon. I thought it would be a good idea to put this note near Indic scripts where it doesn't break the policy to remind editors since most of the editors who edit Hinduism topics often edit India topics and are likely to get confused. Thanks. King Prithviraj II (talk) 12:51, 4 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Your edit to The Dark Prophecy[edit]

Just a heads up, King Prithviraj II. It is usually frowned upon to leave future edits hidden in article text, as you did here. I don't personally care, so I'll let it by, but many other editors dislike this practice and would prefer that you use your sandbox for this purpose instead. I think the reasoning is that non-editors can possibly see your edits. The more you know. -- 2ReinreB2 (talk) 20:23, 6 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I do know how to upload posters, but like you, I don't read Telugu. King Prithviraj II (talk) 18:18, 3 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Oh I see; seeing how you expanded Baahubali 1 and 2, I thought you knew the language since (obviously) you needed to watch the film to write the plot, and Telugu is the main language of the series. Which language did you watch it in? --Kailash29792 (talk) 18:29, 3 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Telugu itself, but with English subtitles, so I had a pretty good understanding of the plot and was able to enjoy the film. Then there was this television airing of the film dubbed in Hindi, which I also watched. King Prithviraj II (talk) 18:52, 3 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

List of accolades received by Jab Tak Hai Jaan[edit]

I see you removed the AfD banner template from List of accolades received by Jab Tak Hai Jaan. Please don't do that. The result of the AfD was pretty clear. Thanks. -- RoySmith (talk) 15:19, 6 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@RoySmith: The nominator claimed that the film has received only 7 awards, while the article demonstrates it has received 33 awards from 69 nominations, all notable. Clearly, thats more accolades than many other Indian award lists on films that have featured list status. Go ahead and go through some of them (films) and look at the sizes of their parent articles. This is indeed a reasonable fork. I feel the nominator's first remark about the number of awards has affected the discussion in a negative manner. I removed the notice as I was initially confused as to why the article was still existing while it has a redirect notice on top of it, apologize for that. So, how can I contest this merger? King Prithviraj II (talk) 16:13, 6 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Well, as it says on the notice, To discuss the merger, please use the destination article's talk page. Start a discussion there. For best results, ping all the people who participated in the AfD. If you can obtain consensus that the articles shouldn't be merged, then you can act on that. Alternatively, you could open a discussion at deletion review. That's a more formal and more heavyweight process. You're welcome to go the DRV route if you want, but for this type of thing, I think a discussion on the article talk page would make more sense. -- RoySmith (talk) 22:00, 6 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Book Articles[edit]

Hey! I saw that you are on quite a few wikiprojects that have to do with books. I'm mainly a horse-article creator, but I'd like to do some articles on this series I love that I believe is notable. Do you think you could give me a few pointers on book articles? Thanks for any response you give :) Horsegeek(talk) 01:13, 17 April 2018 (UTC)Horsegeek[reply]

Hey there! Yeah, while I do work on book articles, I am more of an Indian film person and can relate with you on not being experienced.
To create a detailed book article, I would recommend arranging it into four sections: the Plot, Development/Inspirations/Origins, Release, and Reception along with the lead. Other sections are also included depending on the book's importance, a legacy section if its impact on the world is highly profound like Harry Potter; for novel series', a Sequel section is necessary; if there is enough coverage in reliable sources, a themes section can also be appropriate.
Now, breaking those sections,
    • Plot: This section is supposed to be concise, typically 3-4 paragraphs and 400-700 words. If the plot is too complicated to introduce characters properly, a character's section would also see fit. Sources are not necessary.
    • Development, etcetera: A major portion of the article, the important thing here is that primary sources are accepted.
    • Release: Editions, languages translated, copies sold, bestseller lists, etc. Goodreads often contains edition information.
    • Reception: Now, this part is the trickiest and requires multiple sources to assert notability. For older books, I usually search on Gbooks or Scholar while I tend to stick to Gweb results for newer books. The reviews must be written by a notable organization or a notable author. Sites like Kcls often display reviews that otherwise require subscriptions to view.

Other than that, general Wikipedia policies like common sense and neutrality be applied. Hope that helps, King Prithviraj II (talk) 14:18, 17 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! It did help a lot, actually, thanks again! Horsegeek(talk) 00:00, 18 April 2018 (UTC)Horsegeek[reply]

MfD nomination of Portal:Malayalam cinema[edit]

Portal:Malayalam cinema, a page which you created or substantially contributed to, has been nominated for deletion. Your opinions on the matter are welcome; you may participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Portal:Malayalam cinema and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of Portal:Malayalam cinema during the discussion but should not remove the miscellany for deletion template from the top of the page; such a removal will not end the deletion discussion. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on The Tyrant's Tomb requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://www.penguin.co.uk/books/288076/the-tyrant_s-tomb--the-trials-of-apollo-book-4-/9780141364063.html. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Notice

The file File:Khasi-language.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unused, superseded by File:Khasi-language.svg.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. --Minorax«¦talk¦» 05:02, 15 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
