cmh[edit]

Well, I just finished adding comments to both your pages and another user has deleted them. I happen to have the edit pages in my cache, so I'm reproducing the comments here in the hopes they will help you. I'm bringing across your comments too for context. Feel free to delete all this crap from here later if you like. Of course, I just realized that I misspell Abel throughout... oh well you get the point.

brutus[edit]

i fail to see how this is not neutral , i will not remove the tag but the floor is open to discussion also this is a small article and my time is limited so i try to add to it each day at a small trickle rate... i would of appreciated if you contacted me first Kingpomba 07:52, 28 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. Sorry, I should have contacted you first. I was going through newbie pages with no accounts and didn't check thoroughly. cmh 14:44, 28 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding the article, when I first approached it I suspected it was written by the author of Brutus due to the emphasis on popularity and download counts. I removed the download counts, but the reference to popularity remains. I put the POV tag on it because I was hoping someone would come along with a second opinion about the article as a whole. Thing is, the article does read like an ad to me. It's exuberant about what Brutus can do, but not so hot on the side of why we should care. In retrospect a tag for context might have been a bit more appropriate than the NPOV one. I think in order to escape from POV, the article needs to establish why it is a notable system in terms of what it has been useful for, its history, etc. More than just a list of great (or not so great) features. cmh 14:44, 28 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Cain[edit]

i just created the page , i hope it grows in size and in information , cheers, Kingpomba 11:37, 27 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I hope the same. Thanks for asking for my review. My comments are similar to the Brutus (software) page in that I think the article lacks context. In other words, why should we care. Wikipedia is not a collection of internet directory pages, so this tool's simple existence, IMHO, is not enough to justify the article. cmh 14:44, 28 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Regarding style in this article, I'd put commas right after the term with a single space after. (So foo, bar, baz. Not foo , bar ,baz.) The first sentence is much too long and has several main ideas... consider breaking it up so there is one main idea per sentence. (I recommend reading the article aloud when there is no one around, you'll immediately spot problems like that.) Able is not capitalized at the end of the first sentence. I wonder whether there is a need to identify every kind of hash in the world that it supports. This is an encyclopedia which means that we should be complete, but it also means, IMO, that we should present the important facts, not just all facts which are true. Lastly, this article should be linked to appropriate categories. Good luck in improving the article! cmh 14:44, 28 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey. Saw you deleted the brutus page. May be for the best, but hope you keep contributing elsewhere! cmh 05:55, 1 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism reversion[edit]

Although test templates do not have to be used in order, giving an anon user an "only warning" template is often over the top unless it's something like deeply racist vandalism on high-view talk pages. Try {{test-n|Article Name}}, or {{test2-n|Article Name}}. There are an amazing amount of templates suitable for lots of different situations at Template:TestTemplates if you'd care to take a look. Thanks for fighting vandalism, I hope you can find the time to carry on! --Lord Deskana Dark Lord of the Sith 10:07, 9 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your VandalProof Application[edit]

Dear Kingpomba,

Thank you for applying for VandalProof! (VP). As you may know, VP is a very powerful program, and in fact with the new 1.1 version release it has even more power. As such we must uphold strict protocols before approving a new applicant. Regretfully, I have chosen to decline your application at this time. The reason for this is that not enough mainspace edits. Please note it is nothing personal by any means, and we certainly welcome you to apply again in the not too distant future. Thank you for your interest in VandalProof. Finnish Civil War[edit]

Hi. You've left a note on the talk page for my IP (I've now created an account) a note on my "censorship" of the Finnish Civil War Article. I did not censor anything. I removed a mention of the German Reich financing the Bolsheviks because this is far from being established. The article on the Russian Revolution states correctly :

Critics on the Right have long argued that the financial and logistical assistance of German intelligence via their key agent, Alexander Parvus was a key component as well, though historians are divided, for the evidence is sparse.

As, in addition, the question is peripheral to the Finnish Civil War, I think it would be best to simply remove the sentence. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ilestre (talkcontribs) 13:04, 15 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi[edit]

The first edit I made to Stip was changing the format to dot-points so it could be read better. I then removed the section after I saw a "notable people" section further down the page. You'll see I added the names I deleted to that section. And this is a static IP. Alex 202.10.89.28 (talk) 06:40, 19 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Decadence Title (Screenshot).jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Decadence Title (Screenshot).jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 18:38, 22 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed that my edit to an article regarding a television program hosted by Penn and Teller was reverted and marked vandalism. Appologies for the trouble, was not sure of wikipedia's policy - simply saw this and figured it could offend some and would be a quick fix. Where should i go to confirm my edits are good in the future before posting them? Is there a listing of policy somewhere? Sorry for the trouble, and thanks in advance for the info ^_^ —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.197.3.231 (talk) 13:34, 27 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Logocain.png[edit]

Thank you for uploading Image:Logocain.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 13:26, 8 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image (File:CainSoftwareLogo.png)[edit]

You've uploaded File:CainSoftwareLogo.png, and indicated that it's used under Wikipedia's rules for non-free images. However, it's not presently used in any articles. Wikipedia policy requires that non-free images be either used or deleted, so if this image isn't used in an article in the next week, it will be deleted.

This is an automated notice by FairuseBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 02:24, 11 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Non-Free rationale for File:Justin Pitt.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Justin Pitt.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under Non-Free content criteria but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a Non-Free rationale.

If you have uploaded other Non-Free media, consider checking that you have specified the Non-Free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 20:51, 26 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
